FacebookI recently sold my house and moved to rented accommodation and Home and Mortgages - (especially Sammie Button) were amazing at helping me find my new place and answer the many questions I had along the way! The whole process is a stressful one, but I felt at ease with H&M and Sammie was there the whole way to make sure it went as smoothly as possible. Would definitely recommend using them!!

FacebookThis agent is great until you pay the deposit and start paying rent, after that you are just a cash cow. At the very start they forgot to tell me I have a shed available for my use, then gave me wrong key and did not believe me when I said it does not fit. When someone has thrown old paint in front of my shed couple of days later I got checked upon and blamed even though I was not doing any redecoration and even though I said clearly the rubbish is not mine. My cooker broke down and I was asked to move it and to attempt to repair it (?!) and waited a month for a replacement, I chased several times. You will also get checked every 3 months like a naughty kid if you decide to rent with them. Unprofessional, shows how they don’t really trust their tenants. I would understand this at the beginning but this was going on through the whole tenancy. When the washing machine broke down we have been promised to get repaid for our launderette costs, we never got fully reimbursed, the washing machine took nearly 2 months to get repaired, again initially I had to chase a lot to at least start the process. To conclude my experience £200 was taken out of my deposit for ‘’cleaning’’. Sadly paying rent on time for 3 years without any complaints does not mean anything. Not to mention that the property we lived in had poor insulation and water was coming in through the walls, but fear not it was well explained to me that the mould is there because we are ‘’breathing’’…sure… So clearly when buying my house I automatically took my business elsewhere. I’m glad I don’t have to deal with H&M anymore. Just to think of my experience increases my blood pressure.

We are sorry to hear you are not happy. We pride ourselves on our service and duty of care to tenants and we are genuinely surprised at your comments. We have received no complaints from you we just have our usual file notes. Inspections are standard practice I am afraid to protect our landlords asset and unfortunately paying your rent does not mitigate your obligation to clean when you leave. We hope that you contact us directly with any issues you have as we do care about your experience. Whilst writing just to let you know that as you did not forward your mail we have lots of post and a parcel that you are welcome to collect from our office by appointment. GoogleThe WORST team ever!! They do not care about the health and or safety of their tenants at all, just money driven, thus leaving tenants to sleep on broken beds or floors in their 'furnished' properties. They are quick to collect rent, but slow to fix issues. When you move out, they charge an extortionate amount for a 2 minute check and key collection- is that even legal really? It does not matter how long and well you have kept the property, they never want to treat their tenants well as a good gesture. Even friends of mine have complained about the horrible treatment they received from this rude and condescending team, especially when it comes to tenants complaints. Yolanta appeared more efficient and caring however and pushed for things to be done. WILL NOT RECOMMEND HOMES AND MORTGAGES!!!

Thank you for your comments. We are surprised and disappointed to hear that you are not happy particularly given that we have not had a formal complaint from you. While we accept that tenants would sometimes like a different outcome we do pride ourselves on our service standards and delivering on our duty of care. GoogleAvoid this agency at all costs! Absolutely dreadful agents with no compassion or care for tenants at all. We complained of unmanageable mould in one of the rooms in our house resulting in us being unable to eat in the dining room due to the unsanitary conditions - these complaints were ignored even after many, many attempts to get help from the agency over a period of ~6 months. Our deposit has also not been fully returned, with ‘damage’ cited that was already present (and recorded in writing in the inventory by the agency themselves) before we even moved in. Even with evidence that this was not inflicted by us, no action has been taken to provide us with compensation for the unfair deduction. Rude and condescending letting agents - do not rent from this agency.

GoogleThis is the second time we are buying a property and we were bit hesitant of picking a high street agent and going with online one. As I had a terrible first time home buying experience with high street agent. But H&M surpassed all my doubts. They explained to me all the pros and cons. In the end I was super happy choosing H&M. They have a good rapport with the solicitors and made my life easy. Always kept me upto date with any progress. Special mention goes to Sammie as she was friendly and explained every step of the process. I would highly recommend this local agents as they are up to date with Stevenage market scenario and very friendly to first time buyers like me.

GoogleVery disgusted on how they handled me, no respect for time and effort. Had set a viewing at 09 : 30, we were already at the site as we respect everyone's time and commitment, then agent told me tenant was not ready, had to be moved at 13:00, we agreed then we were back on the site again, rang the agency, only to be told that tenant won't allow, not until 14:30 , total no respect for time, effort and commitment. Agent told me he was trying to call but received no calls to at least have the decency to inform us.
