A fabulous home

My new home is lovely. I got to meet the builders on a couple of occasions to keep me up to date with the progress before I moved in. I had an extensive home demo with Gemma on the day I moved in. She was always on hand to help with my queries. Very professional and nothing was ever a problem. Aftercare has been great.

This is a very bad company to deal with who turned a year of my life into a nightmare! Sales were pleasant and helpful, but the rest of my experience has been horrendous. Plot size reduced after reservation; a lounge window bricked up after exchange of contracts. For this I was given a small amount of compensation - with no negotiation - and told the house would be re-sold if I did not accept it. The interior finish of the house was very poor and snagging has taken a year which left me extremely unwell and depressed. Customer services are slow, and shambolic. Senior staff do not always reply to emails. A professional snagging survey found 215 faults and that was in desperation after five months when many faults had already been identified and, literally, patched up. To describe just a few issues, it took 8 months before I had 26 kitchen doors which weren't damaged and had the handles on straight! And much of the cabinetry was not perfect and had to be repaired. Eight sealed units in windows replaced. Terrible mastic work everywhere; filling holes in plaster around windows and hiding faults with flooring around skirting. Plastering, windows, carpentry and painting all of very poor standard. Faults with fencing which they are now refusing to rectify. After a year, they admitted my central heating had been incorrectly piped! Proceed with extreme caution and engage the services of a professional snagging surveyor! The company do not care - other than about their figures, profits and bonuses - and refuse to discuss any sort of compensation. They all get paid whilst this homebuyer lost a year of their life; became ill; and received nothing for all the lost time, intrusion and upset. Additionally, this is a building site and there is constant noise and the house has been vibrating and shaking due to piling rigs working. No-one cares or has ever asked if I am ok despite the constant stress they knew they were subjecting me to as an older person.

Nothing is too much trouble

Matt and Tim came out to fix a small issue with the walls in downstairs toilet,hall and stairs under cupboard. Both were very professional and explained everything to me they did a good job. Since moving in to a new St Modwen house I have had a few problems but found customer service very good in handling things quickly and all workmen have been very helpful and professional.

Everything was brilliant from the moment we reserved our dream home. Fiona and Anita in the sales office were great all the way through answering any questions and keeping us updated. Damion the customer service manager has resolved any small issues we have had since moving in really quickly along with Adrian and Nathan the site managers. The sales office have provided an amazing and very professional service throughout the whole experience of the purchase. From choosing the kitchen to the carpets. I even met the builders on an initial viewing of my property as well as extensive home demo with the builders before I moved in.
