GoogleWe have purchased a few properties through Hunters now and are in the process of buying another. Jasmine in particular, and the winder team have been great from start to finish. Communication is always very good and I highly recommend them if you're considering selling through them.
Thanks again,

TrustpilotAvoid at all costs. The worst of the worst!
Couldn't have come across worse agents. Took two months to get the house on the market because of continuous delays with contracts, photos and communications. Extremely unresponsive overall, would sometimes have to call for weeks to get an answer or an update. The agents come to house viewings without knowing anything about the house and they lie more than any service provider I've ever dealt with. The absolute bottom of the barrel of estate agents. Avoid at all costs!

TrustpilotIf I could give zero stars or negative
If I could give zero stars or even negative stars, I would. From renting the property, collecting the keys, discussing the lease renewal, to the recent issue with rent payments, it has been a complete disaster. When I first viewed the property, I told the agent at Hunter that my current lease was ending soon and I needed to speed up the process of getting the keys. The agent assured me it would be fine and agreed to hand over the keys on Monday. However, I spent the entire Monday chasing them from morning to evening, even going to their office, but still didn’t get the keys. When I arrived at their office, they told me some documents weren’t signed. I couldn’t believe they only realized this after I had to show up in person. The next day, I contacted them again in the morning, and once again, they weren’t ready. It wasn't until late Tuesday, right before their office closed, that I finally got the keys.A year later, when it was time to renew, Hunter told me the landlord agreed not to raise the rent, and I immediately accepted. They sent over the renewal documents, but before I could sign and return them, they called the next day saying the landlord had changed their mind and wanted to increase the rent by £200. I was shocked. How could they go back on their word? Hunter even insisted that the landlord had the right to do so because there were still two weeks before the lease renewal, otherwise, the landlord could end the tenancy. This felt like bullying, but I had no choice but to agree.Yesterday, I received the payment invoice for the renewal, but the amount listed was still the old rent. Since they issued the invoice, I paid the amount stated. Today, they realized their mistake and sent me an email asking for the remaining balance, even rushing me to pay immediately. I was at work at the time, so I couldn’t make the payment right away. Later, Hunter's agency called me, and instead of being polite, they demanded I pay as soon as possible. I told them I was working and couldn’t pay immediately, and that it was their mistake, not mine. They insisted I pay after work, but I had other commitments. I can’t believe they made the mistake but still had such a rude attitude.I will never use this company again, and I hope they go out of business to avoid further damaging the reputation of service companies in the UK.

TrustpilotI had Terrible Experience, Avoid at All Costs
I had an extremely disappointing experience with this estate agent. I paid a deposit for a flat, expecting everything to go ahead as agreed. Not only did they fail to give me the flat, but they also refused to return my deposit. Completely unprofessional and dishonest behaviour. I would strongly advise others to stay away, this is not how business should be done.

TrustpilotPoor customer service
My partner and I are looking to relocate to an area around a 5 hour drive away, we found a property with Hunters and booked a viewing. We loved the property so we asked the agent what to do next and he said email so we can get sent an application form; because we liked the property so much we emailed and called the branch to try and get ahead with our application. No answer from the branch after numerous calls over the period of an hour so we decided to go to the branch instead. After speaking to someone in branch (not part of the lettings team so they couldn't help us) they sent an email over to someone from the lettings department with our profile so they could send us an application form via email. This seems great, two emails, one from us and one internally expressing our interest in the property. However fast forward one week, with nothing from them and more attempts to contact from us, we finally get through to be told that someone that viewed on the same day as us has already completed all the applications and is set to start renting the property. No apologies or anything after explaining the situation and that we'd been trying to get in contact for a week.

TrustpilotThey couldn’t care less
Would even put this into minus stars if I could. The most awful company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Very good in getting you in at first however soon as they have their commission from you they don’t care about you. To start we had to push back as we had agreed a move in date paid for moving van. Kye who was our wonderful (not) estate agent thought it was acceptable to give us a call at 16:00 the day before to say we can’t move in this date. Extractor fan was broke in the property was promised this will be fixed at the start of our tenancy. They decided to send someone to fix this in our last 2 weeks of our agreement. The state of the flat when we moved in was beyond a joke grime on the kitchen top bathroom smelt disgusting was dirty. Carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since the flat had been built. Marks all over the walls and blinds. We’re not trying to be overcharged for a cleaning service when the flat was left in 10 times better condition it was left in. Horrible company who don’t care about you after they have their commission. Also abysmal customer service constantly have to chase them for things

GoogleEverything was carried out promptly, efficiently and professionally.
My only regret was that care was not taken with making the apartment fit for viewing or advising me (seller) that the property would fetch a better price if some areas were cleaned up.

Hello Marianna,
Thank you for speaking with me just now, we are obviously always keen to gain feedback and look at ways we can improve our services especially for clients who haven’t seen the property in a number of years.
I am sorry that you feel the property could have been cleaned up a little, however I do not believe that the areas in question would have altered the selling price and believe it achieved a fair price given the current market conditions.

Very unprofessional and rude agents. They repeatedly called me while I was at work, and when I finally got back to them, they booked a viewing for the next day and told me to meet outside the property at the scheduled time.

TrustpilotDo not use this estate agent
Would not recommend renting through Hunters - no communication, follow up or empathy from anyone here. Day one moved in- Leak all over the living area from a disconnected pipe that hadn’t been checked. Raised floorboards and bloomed worktop- No broadband access- No bins- Vent not fitted correctly in the bathroom(All reported no follow up from Hunters)1 month later - Still no broadband, bins arrive. Had to purchase expensive WiFi dongle in 12 month contract and unable to use electric car charger. - Phone line attachment broken and reported via Opeanreach -Had to chase Hunters for any action to be taken for the wifi for the whole apartment block2 months later- (Some) flats connected to broadband still some flats without wifi - low speed if usable- Our apartment was flooded with sewage water into the bathroom. - £150 to replace damaged bathroom goods - Pipes overflowing and all toilet/shower/sinks/washing machine and dishwasher unusable for 3 days- 3 days OFF work to facilitate fixing issues- Front door lock unstable logged 23rd July no follow up- Vent still hanging down in bathroom3 months in- Storage room ripped up from last month and no follow up from blocked pipes. Waiting to be flooded out- Stinks of sewage- No communication in over 3 weeks Do not care about welfare/lack of customer service. Shocking. I never write negative reviews and genuinely give people a bit of slack but this has been the worst I have experienced.

GoogleFirst time selling a property - a daunting prospect. Hunters walked us through the process from beginning to end. Their level of communication, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile, especially during the later end of the process when it seemed to stall, for reasons outside of either theirs or my control, meant they kept the process moving to a successful conclusion. I would definitely (& have already) recommended them to others.

TrustpilotINCOMPETENT
Hunters listed a rental property two days ago and I had contacted them making an enquiry an hour after it was posted. No response. so I went online and found a book a viewing form and completed it. No response. The next day I emailed asking further about the property. No response. Today no call or no email, no response. So I call up and I am informed that they are fully booked for viewings and they probably wont do another one. Absolutely no communication. Zero customer service. An entirely incompetent estate agents. I had to drag the information out of them and at no stage was I contacted. The entirety of their reviews for 2024 details their utter incapability.

Amazing service from start to finish .A special mention to Della who went above and beyond what was expected, Della's communication was fantastic even on her days off she would chase information and update us. Della was instrumental in the completion date and kept the chain together. We'd of been lost without her. Thanks Della. Highly recommend.

GoogleDon't come here if you want to rent and an unmarried couple. They class you as a HMO.
I've got written evidence from Southampton Borough council HMO department that this is not the case. And I also don't currently rent with a hmo licence but they still think they are know better.
Also careful if you are a unmarried couple because they said that does not make me a family. U have to be married or blood related to be a family.
Old fashioned and discrimination much?NegativeProfessionalism
Dinah · 25 October 2021
Agent replied · 24 October 2024
Hello Dinah,
As we discussed on the phone, we have been dealing with HMO properties since 2002 and as such are very well versed in their legislation.
When we have previously asked the council for clarification on un-married couples, that have categorically confirmed that they deem them to be two households.
As such by their determination an un-married couple and a parent would be considered as three people forming two households which is the definition of an HMO.
Thank you for forwarding the email from the council which does contradict their previous guidance, as I discussed with you I will be going back to them to get further guidance as it seems the information being supplied by them is contradictory.
Kind Regards,

GoogleMy daughter has just been given the key and is starting to move into her new flat,
With the Covid government restrictions still in place
nearly every aspect 'apart from the viewing' has been done by telephone or computer.
All the team at Hunters are so kind and understanding, they have spent time explaining to my daughter and myself about each aspect of the legal and paperwork side (through a computer portal) and many telephone conversations.
Trying to read legal jargon is like trying to read a book in another language that you are not familiar with and because it is legal, it's daunting and so worrying you really want to get it right first time.
So all of the team have done their part patiently talking us through each stage so that it has not been daunting and scary.
I will follow up this review in a couple of weeks time I'm once my daughter is moved in totally.
Thank you Hunters.

GoogleOur relationship with Hunters (formerly JCL Homes) began in 2014 when we purchased a student let property. The help and support we received both for the purchase and as managing agents over 7 years and subsequent sale has been excellent. The friendly, prompt, and diligent service provided is second to none and it has been a most pleasant experience to work with Jonathan and everybody in his team.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
