Thank you to Lewis and the team at Sale on my recent sale. A five star service from start to finish. The market and valuation advice was spot on. Also Lewis was able to provide helpful advice on our purchase property. Thank you to the team who all played their part and were well informed.

I recently used Gascoigne Halman to sell my apartment in Sale. Dan Mitchell went above and beyond in terms of dealing with both my own and my buyer’s solicitors and managed what was sometimes a tricky process with great skill, attention, calm and helpful advice. He also has a very good knowledge of the area and the properties in it. I highly recommend Dan and the entire Sale office to anyone selling a property in this area - you’ll be in very safe hands.

We recently sold our house in Sale and were very pleased that we chose Gascogne Halman, Sale, to market our property. From first to last the whole team: Andrew, Julie and Dan were very professional and helped us through what at times was a fraught process. One regret was the fact that we used the Gascoigne Halman conveyancing service. They are a national firm and we really struggled to get the conveyancing process really started. At least we had Julie and Andrew to progress chase for us, but it was stressful. Despite this I would recommend Gascoigne Halman to anyone. Thank you!

Fantastic service. Haven't moved for 10 years and this time we were towards the top of a chain. Stressful along the way (including losing a buyer and having to start over) but Tom @ Gascoigne Halman was a fantastic help - especially towards the end. I have never thought about the value that estate agents provide once they hand over the process to solicitors but Tom was on the phone every day around exchange - always available, professional, good communicator and a massive help during the process. Highly recommend

Poor service and disappointing behaviour after tenancy agreement
After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition. We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year. When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken.

Awful management and communication
As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.

Highly recomment Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield
After 3 aborted sales with Purple Bricks which consumed 14 stressful months due to lack of support, wrong price, no vetting of purchasers, etc., etc. I decided to use Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield to sell our house. Within 1 week Matthew Clark and his team had vetted a new purchaser who was right for our property, truly had the funds, and was highly likely to follow through to completion (which they did).I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman enough for their proactive advice and follow-up, aiding the purchaser and keeping me informed. I found them friendly and easy to communicate with. No waiting for someone to answer the phone for inquiries and prompt replies on email. When the exchange of contacts and completion time came, they helped pressure crucial solicitor communication so that we met the target dates keeping me (the seller) and the purchaser happy. I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield enough. Thanks, folks, you deserve the credit, and will be using you again for another property sale.

We had an extremely positive experience with Gascoigne Halman .Especially Julie ,She is extremely knowledgeable, always willing to help, and very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. Julie went above and beyond, acting as intermediary all along to help smooth out any issues during legals to transfer ownership.

Jodie and Deborah were most helpful throughout the entire process, always there to help and answer queries promptly. They really stand out amongst other estate agents I’ve found - Thank you for your help!

What can I say about this estate agent. Professional, friendly, polite, and more. Nothing was to much trouble and I mean we were always phoning about something. I wish we would have gone with them first, but you live and learn. A personal thank you to Dan who got everything set up for us. The whole team were excellent. Use them if you are buying or selling. Thank you all so much.

Positive review for the Sale branch
Julie Chapman at the Sale branch was extremely helpful on our sale and purchase. You could tell she really cares for her clients. Very thorough with her communication (more so than our conveyancers) which was so appreciated. Our transaction was quite a convoluted process with 5 parties in the chain, she kept us reassured throughout the year long wait!

I was so impressed by my experience with Gascoigne Halman, they exceeded all expectations. My purchase was a particularly long one and Julie was amazing at helping me work through it every step of the way, she was always available whenever I needed her, and her customer service was amazing. I would not hesitate to use Gascoigne Halman again whenever I next buy or sell a property, definitely the best estate agent experience I’ve had, thanks so much!

Negligent - Do not rent from them
My husband and I moved into a property managed by letting agents Gascoigne Halman in Chapel en le Frith in November 2022. From the start we had major issues with the property; it hadn't been cleaned, the water pressure was terrible, in fact prior to us moving in after pointing out some defects during a viewing the electricity board had to be brought in to make the electrics safe! There was rubbish left in the loft and cellar and an open manhole cover with standing water in the basement with a pump in it. We had been told this was a usable storage space by the agents. It was not. It flooded more than once ruining our property and was horrendously damp. The wetness in the cellar rose through the house making it constantly damp and mouldy. The window frames were so rotten you could push your finger through them. The front door lock was insecure and you could push the door open with a hard shove. The shower seal was leaky and caused staining downstairs. The shower barely worked then stopped altogether. I believe the property would have been below the required EPC rating for letting if it were tested last year. These are just a few of the catalogue of defects. (I have photographic evidence of all of this). It took months to get some these things rectified and over 200 emails. I have made clear that one of my emails be treated as an official complaint but nothing has come of it. Often we were simply told 'the landlord doesn't want to spend any more money on the property'.We requested a reduced rent rate from £900 to £500 expecting a negotiation with the landlord. He took over a month to respond and then offered £850 despite our explaining the extensive damage to our property and us having paid for a shed to move our things from the cellar. The agents then sent messages chasing arrears. After continuing to press for the landlord to fulfill his legal obligations we were eventually hand delivered a section 21 notice (our tenancy should have run until November and they delivered this in June which I think may be in breach of the rules). The landlord claimed to not be able to afford repairs and needed to sell the property. This all happened over an 8 month period and I have to believe there is some sort of recourse for us. The property should not have been let in that state and we should be able to claim damages for our ruined property and loss of income (I work from home as a contractor). Having rented for over 20 years I have never had such a terrible experience. We moved back to Chapel to be closer to my elderly parents to care for them and now because of the lack of affordable, appropriate property we have had to move further away ultimately making them suffer. We have contacted the property ombudsman who have advised we have a case against Gascoigne Halman we just need to to follow it up. We have managed to find a private let and now moved at great personal expense through no fault of our own. Our new property is clean, well cared for and seems heaven after 9 Cross Street.

I would give less stars if possible
I would give less stars if possible During the tenancy it started already. the garage door fell down TWICE. and it took them 10 months to fix. Only when i started to not pay the full rent they started acting fixing it 2 months before we needed to leave the premisis Altough they make a check in and check out report they dont look at it. Claiming ridiculous amounts of money for things that where already like that before we moved in as visible on the checkin report. We've been waiting for 2months now to get our deposit back and they keep answering once every 3weeks if we're lucky and if they read our 10emails every 3 weeks to remind them

Julie and the team at Gascoigne Halman were instrumental in making sure that our sale/purchase and the sales/purchases of the rest of the chain were all successful. Their communication was great and they helped coordinate all the solicitors involved in the chain - which required a lot of chasing by Julie and the team, as the solicitors were typically pretty hard to get a response from. Highly recommend.

If I could give them 0 stars I would.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. From the outset they seem great, but as soon as the agreement is signed they stop caring about anything except getting the rent in each month. They'll happily let themselves in without speaking to you, they say that they only have to send an email 24hrs in advance. They never return calls. They ignore maintenance requests and then try to say that you damaged things that never worked and were highlighted on the initial move in. As for returning your deposit, I am currently going through a claim against them through the dps as after 4 weeks of vacating at the end of tenancy, they have not done a thing woth regards to authorising the return of deposit. Once you aren't paying them rent anymore, they won't return calls, messages, emails. Go in in person and funnily enough, "oh sorry, they've left for the day and I work in a different dept. I'll leave them a message and get them to call you in the morning" AVOID AT ALL COSTS

One of the Worst Estate Agents in Sale!
All was fine until we received a quit notice. They harassed us with emails asking when are you leaving? have you found a house? They even threatened to charge us double rent if we overstayed our due leave date. Disorganised and disoriented, all they care about is money. They will quickly collect your rent and deposit but take forever to refund it when you leave. I would rather remain homeless than stay in house managed by Gascoigne!

I knew choosing Gascoigne Halman for the sale of my apartment was the right decision. With all the competition and offers like ‘£0 sale fees’ and other such companies my partner took more convincing. Well, I’m happy to say I was right and we were not disappointed! Everyone at the Sale office has been incredible, a big thank you to Tom, Dan, Julie and Annie. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of viewings booked over 2 specific days as requested due to having a baby, offers received from day 1, Dan talked me through each offer to ensure the right one was best for me, despite all my ‘what if’ questions Dan was patient, knowledgeable and talked me through different outcomes. Unfortunately, as we were buying a new build, stress from the builders sales office they couldn’t take off me (as they insisted on contacting me direct!) but thank you so much Annie and Julie for dealing with everything else. Delays with my management company meant we were dangerously close to the stamp duty cut off date for completion, I panicked more when my solicitors didn’t seem as concerned as me - we all know they work at their own pace! But Annie completely understood and contacted my buyer and his solicitors to get done what needed to be done, as quickly as if I had done it myself - and it was sorted the same day. I can’t thank you enough, I will honestly never use another company. I have bought a few times with other estate agents but the never gave the same level of customer service. Everyone at Gascoigne Halman goes above and beyond which is so refreshing, thank you for helping our move less stressful!

We recently sold our house with Gascoigne Halman and were more than happy with the service we received. Hannah Sanders handled our sale and I can honestly say that we couldn't have asked for more. She was always professional and polite, and we never had to wait or chase her, as she was always forthcoming with communication, keeping us in the loop and making what could be a very stressful experience incredibly smooth and easy to get through. Could not recommend Hannah or her colleagues more.
