I would recommend Gibbs Gillespie Rickmansworth. Phillip kept us informed with regular phone calls all the way through the process. Despite a few difficult moments when it looked like we may not move into our new home, we persisted and it all went through in the end. As first time buyers you need someone to put your mind at rest!

Its been almost three weeks since I signed the contract and the house is yet to be advertise. The house is newly refurbished, vacant and Im just paying the mortgage! I have already given them the solicitors details and no one has even asked for the house keys!

Hello, Ayn. We’ve read through your review and believe there is some confusion, as we have no record of you on our system and our Harrow office is not marketing any "newly refurbished" properties. Maybe this review is for someone else (or, perhaps, another business)? Would you mind calling us at 020 8868 9966 so we can further discuss this experience?

The sale of my flat was a long and difficult one and I found George Callaghan and his team very supportive. George was excellent at keeping me informed and I couldn't be more pleased at the outcome. I could not have had a better service I am certain from any other agent. Best wishes.

I would like to thank Isaac for a professional attitude towards us during flat search. He was on point with understanding our needs and showed us few flats that we actually liked, not a common thing these days. Good communication via phone / email and flat up to our standards made us agree a let with him.

The two people that I have dealt with…

The two people that I have dealt with from the Stanmore branch, ie Aqib Islam and Paula Chapman have been exceptionally professional in every way. They have worked tirelessly and diligently; completely focused on making sure that everything went smoothly on the sale of my property. I thank them for all the advice and assistance they have afforded me.

Of Mice and Mould

The problems began on a cold Saturday morning on the 12th March 2022. The time was 12:30, I had been waiting over an hour already for the estate agent to show up, I called the office on multiple occasions, but to no avail. As I anxiously stood by, I was forced to make small talk with those also waiting for the flat but as time went on, I was the only one who remained.Hours later I received an email, the viewing was now to be virtual and I, foolishly, accepted. Eventually, I was ‘showed’ around the property and after my 120 second-long ‘tour’ with as much shake and camera blur as The Blair Witch Project; I was asked “Will you take it?”. And I made the biggest mistake of my life, I said yes. But I was desperate and on the verge of having nowhere to stay. When I first arrived at the flat in person, it was clear that I had been had. It had all the amenities of a trap house. The flat contained a single electric ‘radiator’ which, when turned on, smelt like you were transported back in time to a pre-2007 town centre pub. Apparently this was sufficient to heat the entire floor. The flat also contained no boiler, instead there was a giant immersion heater, but I quickly discovered it was cheaper and quicker to boil the kettle every time I wanted hot water. I was glad I made that decision as when I went to investigate why the hot water smelt so rancid, I peered inside the heater to find inches thick of solidified swamp juice ‘filtering’ the water inside. Probably the source of the 1854 cholera outbreak. The flat had several other unusual smells as well. One of these was the stench of sewer gas that often filled the room, coming up from every plug hole due to the Neolithic plumbing the building had. Nothing was ever done about this and sewer gas is noxious at best and deadly at worst. The other issue also smelt like faeces. This was from behind the fridge, and when it was pulled out there were droppings piled higher than at Lowestoft seafront. Then, to top it off, a mouse came running out; which would haunt me till I left, making several holes in the fragile, rubble-packed walls and even made its way out of the ceiling on one occasion. After the hottest summer ever, it eventually did rain. And when it did, it came pouring through the house, dripping every single night. It took weeks for this to get fixed. When I left the property, I was originally given a £240 cleaning bill. I did not have enough money for a deposit initially so I chose the Zero Deposit option (AVOID THIS), I was threatened with debt collection when I disputed the costs, included in this was mould that was behind some furniture, undoubtedly caused by the gaping crack in the ceiling that was not properly fixed. Gibbs Gillespie prey on the financially vulnerable and will fleece you for every penny you have.Avoid them but especially avoid buying or renting Flat B, 484 Chiswick High Road, W4 5TT.

My daughter recently bought a flat through Gibbs Gillespie and we found them to be very polite and efficient. Our agent, George, moved things along when they slowed down and he always did what he said he was going to do! What can be a stressful process was made easy and stress free. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Fantastic Customer Service

It has been a pleasure coordinating with Gibbs during our recent house purchase. Unlike other estate agents, they are always available and communicate frequently, clearly and provide detailed guidance where required. In particular, it was a pleasure working with Lucy and Danielle. For future house purchases and sales, I will be contacting Gibbs first. Thank you for everything so far.

I rented out a flat through Gibbs Gillespie Rickmansworth. To guide and advise me through the whole process was the Lettings Manager Ashley Stevens. Ashley was very professional from our first meeting to keeping us informed of viewings and advice on the rental value. Having found our perfect tenants I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gibbs Gillespie.

Worst experience ever - avoid GG!!

Worst experience ever. Gibbs in Amersham, very pushy to book viewings- always overbooking - and always cancelling last minute, as if buyers are sitting around ready to waste weekends and afternoons for their games. Happened few times already. Avoid at all cost if you are a serious buyer, and I assume their rush to close deals fast also means sellers lose out on better offers.

Bad at selling

I have dealt with quite a few estate agents over the years, but it was my first time working with Gibbs Gillespie. Unfortunately, Gibbs Gillespie does not get a good rating. Some red flags.Dealing with Rahul from the Stanmore branch and his bleached blonde colleague who didn't introduce herself. Rahul initially flat out refused to book us in for a viewing. We had to ask several times to view the property concerned. At one point it started to seem like the property they advertised was actually a fake advertisement, but as it turns out the house they were advertising did at least exist. However, once we finally did the viewing, the agent that turned up (not Rahul) claimed we only had 15 minutes to conduct the appointment and they did not know anything whatsoever about the property, and it was clear they really didn't, as they did not even know the house number. We had to point the property out to them when they arrived. It was quite odd. Their salesmanship does leave something to be desired. No wonder the property is still on the market. The agents are doing their very best (or worst) to not sell it.I have given 2 stars just because they have not been the worst I've encountered. At least the property they advertised actually existed and they had the key to the front door for it.

Bad experience, terrible service and money loss

I had a very bad experience, terrible service and money lost due to their incompetence. Went for a viewing to buy a new build property. I asked about parking was told there was going to be residents parking outside. Asked again on the phone to confirm and was told the same. I then put an offer and started the process. I started spending money for the checks and all the procedures required. 15mins after receiving all the paper work from the solicitor I get a phone call from the agency telling me that I will never be able to get residents parking as it is a parking free development which they would have known about in the beginning when building permission was given. I was told to try and find parking at the Asda near by which was absolutely ridiculous. This issue was kept from me until months later when it was time to sign the paperwork. Also after I explicitly asked whether I can park outside the property and was told on multiple occasions YES. I no longer want to proceed with the purchase of the property as this was a very clear misrepresentation. All information regarding the property should have been made clear to me from the beginning in order for me to make an informed decision to buy. As parking is a requirement for me if I had been told from the beginning, I would not have put an offer down on the property. After speaking to the salesman (Alex Robinson) that was dealing with this he hasn’t been helpful in trying to resolve this situation and has been dragging it on for months now. I have to keep chasing him and he’s seems not bothered at all trying to help. It has got to the stage where he is telling me to sort it out my self with the solicitor if I want to get my money back. I’m very disappointed in their very unprofessional service and do not recommend them at all.

Spam emails that never end

Back in December, I saw a nice property that was marketed by them. They asked for my contact info to arrange a viewing, and then spam started. Unfortunately, they don't have a proper unsubscribe button (this should have been A HUGE RED FLAG), but a button that sends an email with some prefilled info asking the sender to unsubscribe you. Well, this means that they pass your details to the next salesperson, and you're stuck with their spam.
