SCAMMED OUT OF 750£Was about to rent a flat, they told me that I just had to get back home and pay a reservation fee of 750£ and they assured me that once that was done I would get the flat under the terms we had agreed on and that I had noting to worry about. I completed the payment as soon as I got home and right after they received it they called saying that that the terms had changed and if I wanted to rent it I now needed to pay a year upfront and also more importantly pay more then the original price we agreed on , these two things made the deal completely different then what it was originally meant to be and made it lose all of it's value so I told them that I couldn't go with these new terms and they refused to go back to the original ones. When I asked them to give me back the amount of reservation fee they refused and said that it was my fault if I didn't accept the new conditions and that they would keep the money. I kept asking them politely many times and pleading my case to get the money back but nothing. They kept saying that I was the one who pulled out when in reality they just came up with some new terms that were simply impossible to accept and they know it. Just a all around nightmare to work with from start to finish (hard to join/uncooperative ect...) and got scammed out of 750£

We’re aware that you had made an offer on the property in question and had signed the terms of offer, which included the price, payment structure and T&Cs regarding the handling of deposits. The landlord had also turned down another competitive offer to proceed with yours. After a few days, you notified us that you were no longer able to meet the agreed payment terms and decided to not go ahead with the tenancy. Our team tried to contact you on several occasions, as the landlord was willing to work out a suitable payment structure, however we did not hear back from you. Based on the terms and conditions and given the costs the landlord had incurred by rejecting another offer, your deposit was retained.

I am a long-term tenant via Chestertons and their service has been consistently outstanding, whether it is liaising with the landlord or with engineers, it is always a smooth experience. As a busy person, I am happy that they take care of most of the processes. TrustpilotPreya Nair helped us with a difficult landlord
Chestertons managed our property but unfortunately we had an extremely difficult landlord who would ask for multiple quotes before he fixed anything and not respond to requests for days or weeks. We were left without a fridge for a month (despite having young children), and other essential items took months to resolve. Preya took over our property management about 2 years ago and was very tenacious, she kept chasing the landlord and tried her best to resolve issues as soon as possible. She was very helpful and we appreciate what she did in this tricky situation. She also helped us recover our deposit when the landlord was unfairly trying to hold onto it. I would highly recommend her as a property manager and hope Chestertons are able to retain her.

Avoid the East Sheen office- we have had extremely poor communication from the beginning of our tenancy. They took zero initiative, and we had to wait days/weeks for any communication from the landlords.They have a new peak, they could not manage to contact the landlords to release our deposit.Once again they put us on hold- despite a very clear checkout report, we have to wait to hear back from them. Day 46 since the end of our tenancy and still Counting... 🤦🏻♀️My advice is just to avoid this office either they are super understaffed or do not care at all.

This is the 3rd time I have used Chestertons to find a rental property. They are absolutely wonderful and really listen to what you need and are looking for. Jessica Wilson in the Barnes office was a joy to deal with- she found the perfect property and made sure we secured it. The whole process was as stress free and easy as it could be. She even met us early one morning to pick up the keys before the office was open. She is a pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend this office.
