Ignored by letting agent Great Barr

The letting agent just ignored my call and emails. Put me on hold for the last 10 days. Took all my necessary documents and then stopped contacting me. The tenant is living in a hotel now. They advertised that they need tenet immediately. I don't know what is going on but shipways Great Barr letting agent is.....everyone understand now. Just tell me yes or no. Don't hang me in there. You are wasting my time and wasting my money. Putting me in trouble. Can't you give a straight answer?

Awful

We have been served a section 8 notice by our landlord , which could make me and my family homeless , after calling shipways harborne today we have been told our our rent payments have not been made , although our bank statements show a payment made to shipways , after speaking to another accounts department we have been told that this could be a payment allocation error , shocking , furthermore the lettings managers attitude is disgraceful

Landlord - 5 Star Service - Rugby Branch

Never used Shipways (Rugby) before, but boy were we glad that we made that phone call. Property published, quality tenant secured, signed, sealed and fully delivered in record breaking time! Euan Marshall set the absolute GOLD STANDARD on quality of service, professionalism, always proactive and sheer drive to make sure all parties were absolutely happy, set himself and met a very challenging target date. Fantastic work can’t recommend enough!

Totally Unprofessional

The majority of my e mails to Shipway's were completely ignored by Oliver Ganderton (Manager) . No one cares to resolve issues. I have to constantly call and email them to chase updates. Would score -5 if I could for poor service. Their Trust pilot score is 2.9 and 71% people have given them 1 star which makes perfect sense for their service.

Awful experience, terrible customer services

The level of service at the branch is diabolical phones are never answered and staff are apparently not available all week. Logged problems with the property and took several attempts to arrange to get this fixed. Been tenant for 12 month improved the property we was renting (from fixing broken fence panels which is a health and saftey factor to repainting walls the same colour to remove marks made by previous tenant's) and still are struggling to get the deposit back. Be careful using this agency as you will have to fight to get your deposit back even though they have rented the property out straight after you vacated so clearly there was no issue with the property. It is disgusting that we now have to write a letter of complaint to the deposit holders as apparently DEA (the company used for the inventory) have no policy in place if no communication is given to them in regards to the deposit. I would not ever recommend this agency.

Worst estate agent I ever came across

Worst estate agent I ever came across, don't even deserve 1 star. Very poor service. Will not update regarding property progress, even if you contact them number of times and pretend to be very busy and professional. Don't reply to e-mails either on time. Horrible experience I had. Wasted my precious time and bank mortgage offer because of them. They will hide all negative things about the property and later once you discover on survey, then will pretend to be innocent. Please don't waste your time. I don't recommend such cheaters/fraud.

Shipways GreatBarr - do not recommend

(I used Shipways Great Barr) My home purchase completed just under a month ago, however the process I went through was incredibly frustrating and unnecessarily long due to, it seems, incompetency from both shipways and the solicitors that the seller of the house used - this was a company called Talbots Law (I am under the impression that both of these companies are under the same umbrella organisation and work together). The process for buying the property started off normally and I didn’t have concerns in the beginning. However, as time went by, I was getting fewer responses from my estate agents and had to chase them up a number of times before getting emails back from them. I addressed this in one email where I stated I was disappointed in the level of service I was receiving and when they responded, neither of them apologised or acknowledged that part of my email. I was also constantly being given mixed messages as to what stage of the purchase I was at - I was told multiple times that documents which the other side needed had been received, only to then be told all of a sudden that this was not the case. It quickly became apparent that the estate agents either didn’t have a firm grasp of what was going on, or just didn’t care about good customer service. Not once throughout my purchasing process did I feel like I was being supported or that they were doing their job to the level that they should have been. Even in situations that were not in their control (which I completely understood) they still had terrible customer service. I am so glad that the purchase is finally completed and I no longer have to deal with their incompetence.

From start to finish Shipways were…

From start to finish Shipways were unprofessional in the sale of my property.Contacted via text messages with Terrible grammar, messages sent to me by mistake meant for other customers. But.... the best must be the kisses I received from the office staff at the end of their texts. They would phone whilst I was busy at work although they had been told to contact me at a certain time of the day. I only stayed with them as I was desperate to sell and vacate my property as the area has gone to the dogs. The solicitors they use are also as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Shipways sent a potential buyer around who turned up with her brother in law and proceeded to take photographs of anything and everything and I felt pressured as they were asking if I was leaving furniture, mirrors, I honestly thought she would want the contents of my wardrobe next, but to be fair she was way too fat for them.An offer was made which I accepted, and potential buyer wanted a second viewing. I explained I was busy over the next few weeks as I was having treatment at hospital but Shipways still contacted myself to arrange this. I did offer a second viewing at my convenience with the buyer then bringing another person with her, who proceeded to walk over my bedroom carpet and walked mud all over it without a care. Potential buyer contacted me to say she would “pop” around on bank holiday Monday to check boiler was working. I told her I was away and would be in touch with her on my return, which I did a few days later. I was not going to stand for a stranger to tell me when they would “pop” round, totally unacceptable behaviour and quite odd I thought. A very stressful time made worse by the constant annoyance of the buyer. I felt quite violated by the frequent visits from the buyer who behaved like it was her property before everything was completed.Glad the experience is now over and would honestly not recommend this company to anyone.I would avoid at all costs.

Shipways RugbyHaving a communication nightmare with this office. We are on a David Wilson buy back scheme and we have 4 weeks to sell this property, and Shipways have had our property for 3 weeks, no updates, false promises, no market strategy, no viewings and even an escalation to the branch manager who advised he would send me an email to confirm my complaint failed too, received nothing. Stay away from this office they are a joke!! We have been inundated with agents in the area saying this should have been sold and rightly so too because properties in this area when taken seriously sell within 1 x week. Go to an agent that takes your property seriously and has a real strategy going to market. STAY AWAY!!

Zero stars if I could

Zero stars if I could. Sam Pillinger the branch manager at shipways in shirley is a very dodgy character . He takes cash from buyers on the side and gets their offers accepted on properties that are for sale and does not put all genuine offers forward for vendors to consider. Him and the SEQUENCE mortgage brokers lender his firm have been doing this for ages. They did it to my house sale last year and I had to change them immediately. His firm should not be in business.

House Sale

Whilst registered with another agent (getting no where) for a sale I was approached by Shipways who said the property had been on the market for a long time and was surprised it still was in the current climate. I decided to take their advice and registered with them which was a good move (excuse the Pun!). Things really started to move, the communication, marketing and reliability were very good and the team were efficient as the house sold in just over three months. From my experience I would highly recommend them.

£600 for what exactly?!

Do NOT be fooled into Shipways Lifetime Membership fee. It costs a staggering £600 which is a once off and is sold in a “never pay anything for our services again” kind of way however as you learn when looking to renew mortgage providers when your rate is up, you still pay a £99 admin fee!! The lifetime fee is non refundable as well so it’s £600 down the drain. Very very misleading and unscrupulous. Shop around, there are other companies who are better.

Lost over £500 in solicitor and…

Lost over £500 in solicitor and mortgage fees because I was lied to by these for nearly 6 months about the progress on my purchase - until I took things into my own hands and called up to check and found out the seller is in a serious dispute and they’d never release docs - meaning he’d never sell the flat!!!!! Waste of time and money!!!!!!!!!! If I was rich I’d sue you even though it’s for £500 and not more. You ruin peoples lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful service, rude and there might be a racial discrimination practice going on there!!! Stay awayI wanted to view a property for rent, and i was a bit late. I tried to let them know and they did not pick up they never pick up the phone. The guy who was at the viewing called to ask where we are. I said stuck in traffic due to peak hour, coming quickly. He kept on poking in a negative way saying that “don’t you know your meeting is at this time, there is no peak hour now.” It was quite intimidating, he kept on saying not in a polite way “ i was there i reached here by 10 mins how come you are taking so long”. His tone was very intimidating and very rude and he spoke to me as if i was lying. I think that is very unprofessional. You can leave the property but there is no need to be rude. Why will i lie!!! No etiquette at all. Once i reached there he and the landlord didn’t seem interested much and mentioned that the property will be rented at a higher price now than was previously posted online. Either they just deceive people or illegally increase the rent or they just bluffed us with the higher rent so that we don’t come back. I have never seen a property agent increase the rent without posting and when we go for a viewing.Don’t know about the company but the agent should learn some manners.

Don’t waste your time

Don’t waste your time. The communication is non existent. Tried to sell my property with them and had no luck, which was fine, decided to take the property off the market for a while and then back on the market with another agent. They then proceeded to reduce the property and re advertise without permission and consent. Even though I had already taken it off the market with them for a few months. Do not recommend.

Shocking service from Hagley Branch , tried to book a viewing on an empty property for which they held a key and had to chase to view with no reply . Offered on an apartment in Hagley village , Haybridge Mews , offer only 5 K below asking price , no feedback on offer , unsure if vendor even received it and property still in market four months later after my offer , no offer acknowledged in writing. Appalling service , pity their vendors who have no idea it’s impossible to buy a property from them as a purchaser. Since bought and completed on other property in the area while still waiting for Shipways to confirm a viewing ! Now cold calling for custom as lockdown hits , how the tables turn !About to report to the ombudsman.

Awful! Avoid this company

Big mistake to fall for the excellent sales pitch! Started well with sale boards up in no time once the contract was signed but then the nightmare began! Took 3 weeks to get our property to market. The agent had our key but the photographer forgot to collect it and had to go back to the office to get it. The photos were rushed and very poor quality. The narrative on our sales particulars was so bland and didn’t make the most of the beautiful rural location of our property is in and the floor plans were a poor illustration and incorrect. The planned open day didn’t happen but they didn’t explain how it would work or that it wasn’t happening until we phoned to ask where the agent was when they didn’t show up. They held our key to enable any time viewing but office staff didn’t know they had the key and thought we were only accepting weekend viewings. They turned up 4 hours late for an appointment to retake photos and never returned our calls. We terminated our contract with them with the required 4 weeks notice and the for sale board was removed within 48 hours. When I phoned to ask whether they were still marketing our property they said the boards had been removed for decontamination reasons! They never returned our message asking about arrangements to return our key and we had to go into the office to demand it back. We made customer services aware of how unhappy we were and they didn’t return our calls either. If you want to avoid a similar experience then avoid this company.

Awful,don't sell your house with them!I had my house on the market with them for some months I had reduced it once And I got a phone call off them asking if I would like to reduce my house to be in the Boxing Day sale I said no and explicitly told them that I would Not!! reduce the price of my house again because I wouldn't be able to afford another house. So 2 weeks later you would imagine my surprise when on Christmas day I found my house had been reduced. When shipways where back open after Christmas I phoned up and asked them why my house was even in the sale when he had explicitly said no but they couldn't give me an answer so I complained and they said that she would pass my complaint on to the manager but they didn't get in contact with me for a whole month when I got a phone call of the manager and I said that I didn't want their services any more but up to this day 3 weeks later my house is still on the market

Awful company both from a rental and…

Awful company both from a rental and buyer. We had constant issues throughout our tenancy and were just told that they act on behalf of landlord not us! When it came to buying it was made very clear that if we wanted priority with the vendor we had to mortgage with them, which is completely illegal! Don't know how they aren't investigated by the ombudsman for there dodgy practices and shocking customer service!
