I have almost finished my rental process with John shepherd and I have been very impressed and satisfied with the process from start to finish. Brendan Pearce in particular did my viewing and has assisted me throughout the whole process. I knew what was next and was completely at ease with what to expect and what I needed to do so I had a smooth process and minimal stress. Everything was dealt with in a timely manner and I felt that Brendan genuinely wanted to secure me the tenancy and always a pleasure to talk to! Would highly recommend

We have dealt with Megan through this whole process of getting our 1st apartment. Its been difficult for us as I am moving country and Megan has been a great help showing us different places when we only had limited time available. When we found the apartment we wanted she was straight on to the landlord. She kept us updated with everything as we were waiting on feedback to see did we get it. She made it ten times easier for us and any other suitation we have had when moved in it was sorted by Megan. So we appreciate all her help 😊

Cannot recommend enough

My experience of John Shepherd Estate Agents has been nothing but brilliant. I had lots of queries, questions and worries about the process but these were all put at ease by Jack Richardson. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Jack was professional and had my best interests at heart. He would always be just a phone call away and always made me feel important rather than just another sales statistic. The team at John Shepherd were always friendly and professional and I would highly recommend.

Just what you want from an estate agent!

Jack is my estate agent for the purchase of a new build. I can honestly say that Jack's support during the process has been invaluable. He is extremely knowledgeable and always on hand to support (24/7). The legal process surrounding a house purchase is a mine field and Jack has been my go to between the solicitors on both sides, and he has kept me sane! Thank you for all of your support, we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel! it is a pleasure to write this review and I would give you 10/10 if it was available because 5 stars doesn't seem enough!

LANDLORDS BEWARE !! Unreliable Management and Substandard Contractors

I would strongly advise landlords to avoid this agency. In my experience they provide very little support and seem more interested in collecting fees than actually managing properties. Maintenance issues were handled poorly, and using unreliable contractors whose work was substandard. If you are a landlord looking for a proactive, professional service, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

AVOID ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC

Upon moving into this property as of DECEMBER 2022, the property was NOT cleaned upon my arrival and was in poor state. I actually had to purchase cleaning products to proceed with a deep cleaning of my own bedroom. Neither were the cupboards, stove, living area or any other shared kitchen facilities. So the notion that this flat was in good living condition is incorrect. I left the flat in a better condition than I found it in. The walls were already in poor condition upon my arrival also. They were discoloured and had fine cracks in them, evident as standard wear and tear, which is not tenant responsibility. I have inflicted no physical damage on any walls within my short stay at the accommodation. The floors were a huge thing I complained about upon moving into the property and they were ALSO in poor condition upon moving in. I also complained to this to the John shepherd, which was ignored. I was told that the landlord found it suitable and that I shouldn’t not have signed the tenancy agreement if I was not happy with the state of the walls and carpet, which I continue to STRESS, was in extremely poor condition before moving into the property which I unfortunately did not view before i signed the lease. The lights near my room have never worked and are built into the wall, I’m not sure how I am supposed to take responsibility for THAT as it was already poorly fitted BEFORE I moved into the property and I would not know how to change them. I never touched them. The state of the bathroom is of wear and tear, no physical damage inflicted in any such way. The bed, also in poor condition upon moving into the property. The flooring of the kitchen was always scuffed up and in poor condition prior to me moving in. I accept blame for one of the TWO living room chairs I met during my whole time at the tenancy (there were never 4). I weakened one leg as I used it to stand on top of the electricity box to reset the meter. But not to the amount I am being requested to pay for a singular chair. I’d like to see a receipt for the same chair, in order to replace, or paying for one at a reasonable price. I remind you I had been living there for six months only. Many of the problems the landlord is requesting me to fix were there BEFORE I moved in which is unnaceptable. I complained to my flatmate, as seen in the attached messages (same number can be found on the system) on my MOVE IN DATE on the poor quality of the house and he even offered to clean it as nobody in John shepherd had bothered to arrange a cleaning. Repost as my review was deleted and I will keep reposting and checking. Rajak Ali and the rest are horrifically negligent and cold

I Don't recommend

Went through the whole painful process of renting an apartment through John Shepherd and goodlord and did everything that was required and paid the fees and got the keys to the flat and checked in today only to find so many small issues that has not been taken care of and so many things needs to be fixed even though they had all this time to take care of it and clean it probably!!**UPDATE**They came in and fixed what needed to be fixed also I want to mention that agent Meghan was helpful though out the process

John Shepherd Collection were bought on to replace an existing agent. To my delight the impact was instant with their fresh professional approach and that continued through the whole process including the conveyancing which from knowledge is the most challenging. I am very happy with the service we received especially from Gurdev Sondh the Collection Director who was there from start to finish even during the difficulty that was faced with COVID-19.Well deserve the 5star.

Great Experience with John Shepard Letting Agents

I'm a landlord with a new build in Derby and recently had a really good experience using John Shepard Letting Agents. What stood out for me was how quickly they got my property out on the market. The same day we completed, we already had a tenant lined up in principle.Communication was another strong point. Lily Johnson, in particular, was great to work with. She was always ready to help out, especially when it came to sorting out property access before the tenants moved in. This made it a lot easier for me to get in and get the place furnished and ready.It was a relief to have Lily and the team handle things so efficiently. They were professional but also approachable and helpful, which made a big difference. All in all, I'm very happy with the service I received from John Shepard Letting Agents and from Lily especially.

Awesome Experience w/Faye & Team

Faye and the whole team were incredibly helpful to my wife and me. We recently moved from the states and the Home Office was very behind getting our documents readied. No worries for John Shepherd, as they were diligent in the process and worked hard to obtain the necessary information online and over the phone. We asked a million questions and sent a thousand emails and they were nothing but kind. I will not hesitate to reach out in the future for any real estate needs.

We used John Shepherd Estate Agents to sell a premium property for us that had previously been marketed by a different agent.We found then to be extremely professional & diligent in their work and their comms to us as clients. In particular Harry, assisted by Lauren, was a pleasure to work with. He is polite, organised, professional & even tempered. It was not any easy sale process but Harry had good insight into how we could get the sale completed. He listened to our wishes & ideas, and he implemented then with respect. He never pressured us to reduce the price which is how most mediocre agents approach selling houses in a challenging market. Harry gives the profession of Estate Agent a very good name. I would have no reservations in using John Shepherd again in the future.

Michelle and Emily ( Hope I've recalled her name correctly) and Jamie were beyond helpful. The empathy and support to secure a short term tenancy from these ladies was overwhelming. Following tragic circumstances I needed to find alternative accommodation and quickly, I had been to many other agents and found them to be cold, unhelpful and inform they had no property despite them being advertised. This team helped home a family in need. I am extremely thankful. To say they went above and beyond does not come close.

Still waiting for my deposit after 48 days.

48 days now after leaving one of John Sheperd rental properties and l am still waiting for my deposit. It should have been paid within ten days. Tina Margetts is dealing with me and she is completely useless at her job. Looks like l will have to go to court to sort this out. l am completely pissed off with this company and Tina.
