Not Interested in selling my £1.1m house!!!

F&C sent me a speculative article and compliments slip a couple of months ago as our property was not selling.August 3rd I went on their website, and decided to request a virtual valuation. I uploaded 13 videos that I had made of my property. All appointments for that day were greyed out. So I chose 3 times on the 4th. I received an automated confirmation email of my request and that a member of their staff would contact me to confirm date and time. Nothing.7th August - I replied to their email (southessex at fineandcountry dot com) saying what I wanted to discuss.11th August (today) - still NOTHING.They are clearly not interested in any business!!!

Really positive experience …

Buying and selling can be a stressful experience but Lisa took all the strain and made the whole process manageable, even when dealing with the inevitable bumps in the road . Buyer Biased Agent

We were asked by the Fine & Country agent on his first visit to us what it was that we wanted in an estate agent. Rather refreshing we thought. Reliability, trustworthiness and communication we replied. Paid for a video which was professionally executed, flattering shots were taken and an interested party came to view, swiftly offering full asking price before going live on Rightmove. Fantastic we thought. Then Covid hit just after the buyers' OTT surveyor presented his report (and a slimy, arrogant, rude little man he was too.) Our own surveyor friend (a highly professional man with years of experience with listed buildings and renovations relating to them and awards won) came round to inspect the issues raised and advised what required doing. Much of the report was ridiculous and totally unnecessary said he. Not being able to have our reputable, knowledgeable builder in to quote for works due to Covid, our friend sent technical specs to him and we emailed photos and measurements to him for a ballpark quote. The costing was £6,500 including VAT not the supposed £50,000 reduction in price that the buyers insisted on, and no doubt at their surveyor's suggestion, in order to rectify works.We costed up issues, rectified and repaired minimal details brought up after going through the report with a fine tooth comb and offered to pay for extractor fan replacement, electricity report, etc., details which most buyers would expect to pay themselves.Presented to agent who advised not sending any detail of all this, only the minimal work we had undertaken ourselves. He said they would walk away. In hindsight we really should have insisted they see it. At worst they could have said no. He didn't want the risk. From there on in, it was abundantly clear to us that the agent was working on behalf of the buyer, not the clients who were paying his commission. Of course he didn't want to lose a sale. Dropping £40,000 (as was reluctantly agreed by us) made little difference to his percentage (an inflated rate in comparison to other agents) in the grand scheme of things.Communication was scant from him and especially so once exchange took place. He had secured his commission after all. We have heard nothing further from him. Even our vendors' agent sent us a card of congratulations. We are decidedly disappointed with what started out as a good relationship. How wrong we were in our estimation. In the end he turned out to be just another typical estate agent with the gift of the gab.

Friendly & helpful service

We just recently exchanged on our property and Paula from Fine & Country was amazing from start to finish. The chain was not smooth running but Paula stepped in and guided the communication between each client. I don’t think we would be completing if it wasn’t for her. Debi from Heswall sold our house in 4 days. The process with the lawyers obviously took a little longer :-) Debi's lovely. From meeting her, to getting the house on the market, to dealing with the process, you literally couldn't ask for a better agent. She's managed any problem that came up with patience and a can do attitude. I would wholeheartedly recommend her if you want to sell your house (or even if you want to buy one!)

Fine & Country are franchises. Be careful who is running the branch...

We rented 2 of our properties through Fine and Country thinking they would be an excellent company, unfortunately this was the opposite of our experience. The branch we used, Wandsworth Bridge Road, was run by a man called James Watson (who now owns The Finer Group Estate Agency) and he turned out to be a complete crook and lied to us. He collected 12 months rent from our tenants, did not tell us then every month we had to threaten legal action to get our money! We contacted Head Office about him and they said each branch is a franchise so couldn’t - and wouldn’t help us. We got the Ombudsman involved in the end and we got our rent money and managed to get out of the contracts with him but he withheld the tenants deposits. Horrible man - be very careful and Fine and Country were not supportive at all - make sure you research their managers/owners

Excellent agent - highly recommend

6 days ago-We were reluctant to putting our property on the market until we found the one we wanted as our forever home, the man I initially spoke with was very helpful and explained the market and how that could effectively become a barrier (long story short), so we trusted him and started the ball rolling, and I'm glad we did, because our home (We've settled in nicely and had our first christmas here with all of the family) had interest from another couple that were not yet on the market, we accepted a strong offer on ours after 7 weeks, so we could then put forward our offer for here. Basically we just wanted to say thank you, for taking the time to help us, in what was a little bit of a daunting situation, if you hadn't of done, we may not now have our dream home. I posted a review on the 1st November, I received a reply after a couple of days asking to email so it could be resolved outside of trust pilot.I emailed the complaints email on the 5th November, it is now the 17th November, I’ve not received an a response or even an acknowledgement to say it’s being looked at.This further backs up my complaint about the lack of/poor communications by the company.
