GoogleDisingenuous or poor communication? We didn't have a positive interaction with Charles Louis. After alerting the company to an error in their listing for a new build property in Cheadle, which was £10,000 under the guide price on their website versus the price on Rightmove, we were encouraged to submit an offer on the understanding that a 'deal could be done' and that 'you will secure one of these properties'. We were told not to communicate the listing-price error to other potential buyers. We were promised that we would hear from the developer a day later at 12 noon, only to find that, at that very time, Charles Louis were showing the property to another potential buyer. Confused about the situation, we tried to reach out but received very little information about the situation, other than the property had been sold to an overseas cash buyer. Charles Louis encouraged us to submit an offer on a different property but forego selling our current property because the developer, Josiah Developments Limited, were only interested in selling to those in the 'most proceedable position'.
Given the mostly positive reviews on here, perhaps this is just a case of a 'bad day in the office' but we would not recommend using Charles Louis because we felt that they made promises they could not keep.

We're sorry for your experience and can only apologise most profusely for the inconvenience caused. The seller in this instance had agreed not to consider other offers for a period of two weeks whilst the proposed buyer tried to sell her own. The seller knew as we did that the buyer may not be able to proceed thereafter which is why we encouraged you to go ahead and view the property whilst you were in the area, just in case. We do of course understand your reluctance to do so and acknowledge that we should have given you the option earlier which could have saved you the trip. As it turned out, the proposed buyer withdrew her interest today so the property is now available again. As my colleague mentioned on the phone to you earlier, we are happy to cover the expense you incurred when you came over including your hotel bill and fuel costs so please get in touch and we'd be happy to sort that for you. We pride ourselves on our customer service and will do everything we can to set things right.
