Delayed case and refused to accept responsibility

I had the misfortune of having these jokers allocated to my remortgage case by the lenders. I applied for my mortgage at the earliest I could, about six months before, and my lender instructed Aberdein Considone at that point. About a month later (so 5 months to go) I get some forms to fill in, mortgage deeds to sign and all that stuff. I return the forms a week later and then nothing.I made the mistake of thinking all was in hand but just to be sure, I called them a before completion just to check. I found at this point that Aberdein Considone were waiting on the mortgage offer from the lender, which is odd as the lender would send this to the firm on instruction. I spoke to the lender who agreed to reissue it.Next morning (day of completion) I call to make sure all okay. Aberdein Considine say offer still not received. I know my broker has a copy of the offer so I call them. My broker steps in and calls Aberdein Considine at around noon who now say they have the offer and will complete later that day and would get an email at around 15:00All good, or so I thought. I called at about 15:30 as I had not had an email. I'm told they will look into it and at 16:30, I get an email saying they could not complete as the offer was not received. Due to their incompetence, my completion had been delayed.The following day, spoke with them again after speaking to lender who again, reissued the offer. Aberdein Considine now say they definitely have the offer, despite having said it was received the day before. However, they said the completion would take place the following week and only moved it forward after I strongly complained. What Aberdein Considine don't seem to understand is that each day of delay costs me money in interest on my old mortgage. After the remortgage finally completed, I logged a formal complaint, as I wanted to understand why they had not attempted to obtain the offer sooner. In fact, it was unclear if they would have attempted to obtain it at all had I not contacted them. I also wanted to know why they told my broker the offer had been received when it had not. I insisted they refund the difference between the interest I paid and what I would have paid if I completed on time.Their complaint decision came unsigned and didn't address any of the points raised but offered to cover part of the additional interest. Just a lazy attempt to fob off the complaint. I replied to challenge the complaint and their head of compliance got involved who attempted to defend their position. He maintained the offer had not been received (but offered no explanation as to what actions they had taken to obtain it prior to me chasing them for an update) and that there was no record of a call from the broker. A quick DSAR to the broker to get the call recording proved they told my broker had been told the offer was received. The head of compliance quickly offered to refund the interest overpayment after I sent the call recording.So in short, if your lender tries to instruct this firm, complain and refuse. No one who works there seems to have any idea what is happening with your case at any given moment and will just lie and tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. Ask for another firm to handle your case, or source your own conveyor if you can. Just save yourself the stress and frustration of using Aberdein Considine.

Abysmal services

Despite the recommendations, I must say my wife and I were quiet Dissapointed with the professionalism and communication. We were not carried along appropriately and felt like they were doing us a favour rather than providing paid-for services. There was poor communication all through. Even when our solicitor was going on leave, we waited for months to hear back from the organisation. We had to call afterwards only to be told that someone else will be handling our file. If we hadn't called, we probably wouldn't even know, rather just continue to wait endlesslyRather than the organisation being proactive, we were the ones sending mails and making calls. For example, as first time buyers, using help to buy scheme, we were not informed on how to proceed,until we kept hammering on this. Speaking to the conveyancer was a nightmare! Poor human relations, laboured answers, sounding inconvenienced alot of times over the phone.Very poor management!

I dealt with Chris Grant in arranging my mortgage and protection for my first home. Chris was very informative and quick on hand to settle any questions or concerns I raised. Having a limited timeframe to get arrangements in place was absolutely key and pivotal to securing the property. Matt and his team were excellent

Matt and his team were excellent. We were kept fully updated on all viewings until the offer came in.Matt was great. He advised us how best to prepare the house for photographer, video and our viewers. We choose to show viewers round ourselves but Matt would have happily done this for us.We had several viewers on the first day of viewing. I chose Aberdein Considine to to sell my flat as Matt was very helpful and knowledgeable when he first came to view my flat.He provided hints and tips for when the photographer came to take photos and a video which all came out great. I was really pleased with how it looked online for prospective buyers. For each viewing Jennifer and the team kept me informed along the way and also followed up the next day with any feedback. After accepting an offer I chose to stick with AC for conveyancing which was managed by Gavin and his team. Great experience with Aberdein Considine

My initial meeting was completed by Matt who made me feel comfortable and confident that the sale would be well handled by Aberdein Considine. He went through the full procedure, give tips on how best to organise the flat during viewings and then showed current adverts being run by the company. It was based on this meeting that I chose to go with Aberdein Considine and I'm very pleased I did. After confirming with Matt, he organized my home report, photographs and passed me over to Jennifer and the team for progression of the sale. Jennifer and the team were great throughout the process. They kept me updated on viewings and interest etc, as well as running me through options at each stage. I never had to chase and always felt confident everything was being handled well. In addition, I had the option to complete the viewings myself or Aberdein Considine would - this was a great help due to work commitments. After accepting an offer, I was then passed onto the legal team for conclusion of the sale. They continued as in previous stages - very helpful and very informative of proceedings.Overall, the flat sale went smoothly and I am extremely pleased I used the Aberdein Considine team.
