Poor service and unprofessional conduct throughout tenancy I would strongly advise avoiding Martin & Co based on our experience as tenants. Rent Disputes & Misinformation: Currently dealing with a 2-month ongoing dispute where they're trying to overcharge rent beyond what's permitted in our contract. Initially told us rent review clauses didn't apply, then completely misinterpreted the contract terms when they realized they were wrong. Basic contract comprehension seems lacking. Property Condition: Moved into a dirty, untidy property with no proper check-in process. No one from the agency was present to document the property condition, leaving us vulnerable to deposit disputes later. Maintenance Issues: Response times for repairs are appalling - we're talking months, not days or weeks. Overall Service: Unprofessional communication, lack of basic property management knowledge, and what appears to be deliberate attempts to overcharge tenants beyond contractual agreements. Save yourself the headache and choose a different letting agent. There are plenty of professional property management companies in Oxford that actually understand tenancy law and provide decent service.

Martin & Co have been looking after my rental property since 2011; they have given me an incredibly professional and friendly service and nothing was too much trouble. I can not fault them. I am particularly grateful to Connor and Maz for the successful and swift sale which went through smoothly and without any problems whatsoever. My house was well looked after and in immaculate condition considering it has been rented out for so long. An update to my previous post: I am so pleased last week I completed the purchase of my new flat here in Oxford with Martin & Co. Mudassar Rana (Maz) helped me all along the way. He was very professional, responsive and friendly. He made the process smooth and a very good experience, as obviously buying a property is a complex process. The flat was handed impeccable and I could move in straight away. I am so happy, thank you Maz! -------------------------------------- Older review: Very happy and excited that recently had an offer accepted for a very nice flat in Oxford. Mudassar Rana took me through the negotiation process very nicely. He was very responsive, clear and friendly and made the experience very positive. Abi Rosser showed me the flat, she called me to confirm the appointment on the day, was punctual and very friendly and gave me the time I needed to explore the flat and take my own pictures. They were very professional and as a first time buyer I am very thankful for their work on such important step in life. I just rent a property with Martin & Co in Oxford. The branch is fine, just it seems to me that they do not have enough staff in the busiest time. They might not check your emails, and you really need to call them again and again to get things sorted. Fortunately, the staff who dealt with my tenancy are professional and nice. Conor helped me with putting an offer and contacting the landlord, and Abi helped me with the referencing and the following steps. Both of them are very responsive, efficient and friendly, which made the process easier and less pressured. Special thanks to Abi, who resolved the issue I encountered with the referencing company immediately when I called her -- Goodlord is not very professional and some of the staff need to improve their common sense, I have to say, compared with my previous experience with another letting agency.

I used Martin & Co to manage a rental property, and then they helped us sell it. In both services they were excellent. As landlords living overseas we relied on M&Co to check up on the property, and they were always very responsive, meaning we could act on requests from tenants really quickly and easily. The most pleasant experience I've had with a letting agency. I can't speak to the rest of the organisation necessarily, but Abi is certainly fantastic. Abi was very efficient, super responsive, and took time to answer any and all questions I had. As moving is a very uncertain time for anyone; it was a massive burden lifted to to work with someone who allayed all nervousness, and provided clarity throughout.
