I am having the worst experience with Swetenhams as a landlord. They have shown zero concerns with the tenants welfare and with landlords concerns, tell you they will take out works for one thing but then go ahead and charge you for other irrelevant services without the initial problem being solved. Communication is terrible. Please avoid letting with them. The only thing I can recommend is Colin as a mortgage advisor who is absolutely brilliant!!

Mismanaged 6 month let cost us 1000s!. In Aug 2024 this agent took on a 6 month 'full management service' letting for our home in Sandiway. During this the tenant remodeled, redecorated, stole a fireplace, wooden flooring, custom made blinds and shutters to all the windows and light fittings. This agent was aware in November 2024 but instead of telling us or enforcing the tenancy agreement they tried to convince us to sell to the tenant presumably so we wouldn't find out about the damage. Overall the damage/theft cost 10,000 and we finally got 2,600 back, 100% of the deposit. The agent has refused to return the 1500 management fee, first offering 664, then 864 and now because we refuse to say we won't take it further, they are threatening not to refund that. They are incompetent and dishonest and should be avoided at all costs! The pictures show before and after their mismanagement.

Don't touch, even with the largest barge pole. As estate agents they would make great bus passengers as they just sat and watched out of the window as my sale went very west. Poor communication and poor service as I seemed to find out where my sale was up to before they did, and they have the cheek to want paying? Thankfully I've now instructed an adult that doesnt eat crayons to complete this.

We interviewed three Northwich based Estate Agents to help sell our house in Moulton & Mr James Davies of Swetenhams was by far the most professional with extensive local knowledge & considerable experience. We were particularly pleased with how quickly our house was put onto the market & the details & many photographs were excellent. Although the house took some time to sell (not helped by Brexit & the Election), Georgia & Julia were very efficient throughout the sale process, keeping us informed promptly when viewings were arranged & giving us constructive feedback afterwards. We chose Swetenhams to be our estate agent and after our contract was up with them, we decided to change to a new agent. My husband spoke to Tom at Swetenhams and asked that they collect their for sale sign (which was attached to our property with cable ties) because the new agent needed to put their sign up. Tom said it could take 5 days for them to collect the sign. My husband said that he would move it out if the way until they could come to collect it but Tom then "warned" him that this would be "criminal damage", which is absolutely ridiculous. We think this was a very childish and bitter response from the staff at Swetenhams who were clearly unhappy that we wanted to try a new estate agent. My husband asked to speak with a manager but she was too busy. Tom later called back and said that we could move the sign if we wanted. Pettiness like this is really frustrating and I would advise that you avoid this company.
