Disappointed

Disappointed, we learned our house purchase had fallen through at the point of us being ready to exchange on our property. We found out that the office had known about it and left it to the agent, who had been looking after us, to tell us after she came back from annual leave! We never got a reason for the purchase to fall through and they even tried delaying us putting an offer in on another property. Luckily this was with another agent and we trusted our gut as the trust with Hunters had gone. 7 weeks later we were in our new home. Felt let down and disappointed with Hunters. This was our first and last time dealing with them.

Andrew Proctor and his team did a great job selling my property. The photos were great, especially the virtual reality feature where you could walk around the house viewing it from anywhere in the world. The property was a bit quirky, but they worked hard to get all the answers to the buyers' queries which led to an offer and sale at the asking price. Well done Hunters!

Thank you Dirk for your review. We do go that extra mile with regard to marketing, and also response times to emails and queries, and it is good to know that our clients appreciate this. Makes the extra effort all the more worth it.

"Avoid Hunters Property Management

"Avoid Hunters Property Management, Inefficient, Rude, and Unprofessional"My experience with Hunters Property Management has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. They have consistently demonstrated poor service, inefficiency, and a dismissive attitude towards tenant concerns.Ineffective Issue Resolution: Hunters fails to handle even basic maintenance issues. For example, a heating issue during winter was passed to the landlord without any attempt to troubleshoot. I had to step in and take personal risks to resolve the problem myself, only to discover it was a simple battery replacement. Their inability to perform even basic triage highlights their lack of professionalism and problem-solving capabilities.Creating Gaps Between Tenants and Landlords: Instead of acting as a competent mediator, Hunters merely relays messages between tenants and landlords, causing delays and unnecessary misunderstandings. This approach has damaged the relationship between myself and the landlord, as the agency often fails to communicate effectively or accurately.Rude and Dismissive Behavior: The staff frequently respond to concerns with a dismissive tone, making tenants feel unsupported and undervalued. Their arrogant demeanor gives the impression that addressing tenant concerns is a favor rather than their responsibility.Neglecting Tenant Safety and Comfort: Health and safety issues, such as rat infestations and malfunctioning alarms, were not addressed promptly, despite the serious risks they posed. The lack of urgency in handling these matters has caused significant stress and discomfort for my family.Minimal Value Added: Hunters operates more like a messenger than a property management service. They fail to provide meaningful solutions and seem content to pass the burden of responsibility onto others, leaving tenants to fend for themselves.Overall, Hunters Property Management has proven to be unprofessional, inefficient, and dismissive. Both tenants and landlords deserve better. I strongly advise against using their services if you value timely resolutions, respect, and effective communication.

It is with regret that we write such a damning review but we have been treated carelessly by Hunters, particularly by ‘Rory’. Due to his sloppy handling of our share of a tenant’s deposit we had to borrow money to make our first mortgage repayment (alongside petrol and child care). Our landlord instructed Hunters to release our money on the 2nd of August. It took 2 days for Hunters to acknowledge this (at least for this blunder they had the decency to apologise). However, after waiting patiently for the usual 3-5 working days for the deposit (though with previous agencies it never took more than 2) we politely contacted Hunters on the 10th as we’d heard nothing. This was where Rory lied about having contacted the Deposit Protection Scheme (who coincidentally contacted us for the first time the following day). Had he admitted to forgetting us and for not checking his emails, that would have been fine. Instead he got defensive and rude and had the audacity to accuse us of being rude. He said it’d be with us by Friday, it wasn’t with us until the following Tuesday- ANOTHER 6 days in total for us to finally receive the deposit. Perhaps measly tenants do not warrant the same treatment as home buyers/owners. I know in my line of work, acknowledging emails within 24hrs is a basic e.g. of professionalism. Rory was told this in our phone call; “good for us” he callously remarked. *Insert trite BS response here:*

Agent replied · 22 November 2024

Good afternoon Chris, and thank you for your review. As you mention, we were instructed to release the deposit on the 2nd of the month. We were extremely busy at that time with maintenance issues and as such this took us 48 hours to action. By law we are given longer to action this request. It is worth noting that we were not a managing agent of your tenancy and as such the deposit was not held in our own deposit protection account. The DPS contacting you was as a result of our notification to them to release the deposit minus the agreed deductions. Once this was authorized the funds were received. Despite your comments I would like to assure you that all our customers receive the same treatment start to finish and I am again sorry that you have not been 100% satisfied with your experience.

We have recently sold our house and purchased our next home, both the selling and the buying was managed by hunters our local agent. The whole process was fantastic, they were at the end of the phone, helpful and constructive. I could pop into the office and speak to them face to face. They got back to me chased things up for me, and gave me any advice that i needed. The 360 virtual tour on the particulars was brilliant 👏. I would recommend them to anyone.

lettings fees are very high

For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

Andy and the team were absolutely brilliant in helping us with the sale of our property. We took out the 360 virtual viewing tour which was a really neat piece of kit and fully allowed potential buyers to really see what they were getting in the property. A really good selling tool and a definite recommendation from me! Andy was always helpful, responsive and professional and we couldn’t fault them. Will definitely use again in the future. Hello Lucy & Daniel. We were thrilled to get 8% over the asking for you in the sale of your beautiful cottage. To be fair, when homes are presented as well as yours, it makes the job so much easier. All the very best for 2021.

Andrew, Melanie and the team were fantastic when we appointed them in relation to our sale. They did a superb job getting our property on the market quickly, they helped generate a lot of interest and ultimately secured a great price for a totally pain-free sale. We were also lucky enough to purchase our property through them as well and they were equally brilliant to deal with on that side. No matter was too trivial and they were always on hand with friendly help and advice. We found the 360 virtual tour especially valuable when looking at the property and even used it after a sale was agreed to help plan some initial renovations.

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton!

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton branch! From the very first phone call right up to exchanging contacts They have been beyond brilliant. I absolutely loved the pictures of my house and the write up most definitely did my house justice. My house sold within 4 days and I was over the moon with the price!Nicole was the shining star for me- she kept in daily contact and was the most reassuring and helpful person every single step of the process. She chased up people when they needed it ensuring the sale moved along at pace. Thank you so much Hunters but especially a massive thank you to Nicole- you have been amazingly!

Disappointed is an understatement..

To say we’re disappointed with the level of communication from the Horncastle Branch with Michael and Susan Noonan is an understatement and the level of service is a far cry from Michael's commitment to customer experience.Researching this branch shows multi-occasions that this activity has happened here.If you’re viewing a property with the intent to buy, don’t expect them to tell you if any other parties are interested. They’ll just pull it from under your feet along with any visions or excitement of a future you had in said house.Viewed a property two weeks ago, following the viewing we had a really positive conversation with Susan in the office expressing great interest, no more than a week later sold to another buyer with no communication. It would have been professional and courteous to reach out to the buyer but more so to the seller, as I’m certain they would like to have known of other interest. Susan and Michael took away any opportunity or chance to put in any offers, resulting in many wasted hours.I wouldn’t usually leave a review; but the tone in which Susan delivered the news was blunt, lacked any sort of empathy and very closed, to date I am still waiting for a reply to my email which I can only assume has been ignored. We will steer clear of this company for future sales and purchases, knowing that their priority doesn’t appear to be with either buyer or seller.Happy to receive a call or email to discuss our experience with you.

Hunters are not interested

Hunters let the house adjacent to ours. There have been multiple pipe leaks around the bathroom causing flooding which in turn is causing damp smells on our side due to the length of time taken to address the issues. It's been repaired after four weeks now within hours water is currently coming through the ceiling next door soaking our party wall and they have told the tennant it's livable no problem.

Feeling sorry for vendors hoping to sell their property

Mid of August I telephoned Hunters Sunderland to view a property, giving them all requested details - a little while later they sent an email asking which property I meant (I had told them but if they wanted to clarify: why didn't they ask this when I phoned?).

Awful

Awful. Incredibly disorganised. Would establish inspections and never turn up, would constantly email about overdue rent that wasn't overdue. Would pass the blame constantly. Attempted to raise my rent by a "reasonable" £200 a month six months into my tenancy which can only happen every 12 months and cannot be more than the CPI price index; they failed on both counts. Renting is honestly awful, and these clowns pray upon the anxiety of insecurity to get what they want.I have bought a house now, I wish all renters the luck to buy their own homes one day so we never have to deal with letting agents like these ever again.

I’ve had a great experience letting my first rental property with Hunters Skipton. They’ve been friendly, personable, and clear in explaining every step of the process, which really put me at ease as a first-time landlord. Their communication has been excellent, quick responses and genuinely helpful guidance throughout. Highly recommend.

Sales progression team lied and not very professional.

We are in the process of buying a bungalow at the moment and the sales progression team told us the vendor had been to sort the electrics and service the boiler..previous tennants had apparently got in debt so electric was cut off..Hunters lied saying this would be sorted. A second viewing 2 weeks later and a wasted 120 mile journey confirmed nothing had been sorted. When we told them we were disappointed with them we were told to leave the property.

I would completely recommend avoiding…

I would completely recommend avoiding this agency, they are slow to respond, have no information ready at hand and this has possibly been the most annoying process of purchasing a property with them. There was a lot of missing information that I was not provided and they basically only know how to respond when they need something. You will call them and they say they'll get back to you and just disappear. Avoid if possible.

Gutted

I was really impressed with the valuer's sales pitch and genuinely believed they would be the best firm to sell my home. The fact they had a relationship with Ryan property law also played a part, although that turned out to be a disaster, but that's a review for another day.

Damaged our house, and we're not even their clients!

Hunters hung a "for sale" sign on our property, which was a surprise to us, since we were neither selling nor letting the property. When asked to take it down, four visible holes have been left in the wall of our home. It has been six and a half weeks, and the holes are still there. In a couple of weeks, we're going to need to escalate this to the ombudsman.

We recently sold our home with Hunters, Skipton. We were exceptionally impressed - Andrew and his team are true professionals. Firstly, Andrew thought so highly of our house and given it was a unique renovation other agents had failed to see it’s true value. Andrew is extremely knowledgable and experienced; this really showed in his proposals, and proven when he secured an offer at the level he’d valued the property at. The technology that Hunters use for virtual viewings is fantastic and means that only extremely interested buyers come to view the property. Andrew secured our offer in under a week - and we didn’t have numerous ‘half interested’ viewers to prepare for. Finally the broader team were very responsive and highly professional throughout. We can’t recommend Hunters highly enough - thank you again to the team for a fantastic experience and phenomenal sale.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Agent Harj was full of fake promises

Agent Harj was full of fake promises. Although he was all smiles and seemed friendly, the minute we left after our viewing he didn’t return texts or calls and shyed away from any contact. After several calls to the agents I finally managed to find out myself that the property had been given to someone else, rather than them calling me to inform me I had to dig this information out of them which was frustrating. Avoid!

I have just moved into my new home. It took much less time then I had originally anticipated. The service I received from the estate agents was first class. My contact there was Andrew, everything went as per the original plan. The only problem for me is that on my first day in the property it has rained all day!? I would like to congratulate and thank everyone at Hunters especially Andrew. Well done and thank you John Hirst
