I hesitated to leave this review, but my experience with Dacre, Son & Hartley Knaresborough branch compels me to share. In the past two weeks, they delivered two unsolicited mailings to my home, boasting of a "Platinum Trusted Service Award." On 21st March 2025, I emailed the branch requesting a quote to sell my property. Receiving no reply, I called to follow up, and they confirmed receipt of my email, promising a response. None was provided. If they cannot manage basic communication with a potential client, I have little confidence in their service once you are a customer.

I can highly recommend Dacre Son and Hartley. All the staff are extremely friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. Nick is vastly experienced and my home sold on the first day. The marketing of my property was superb with excellent photos and a comprehensive and accurate description of the property. Anita and Harriet are both very knowledgeable and efficient and supported me throughout the process of selling my home and I am hugely grateful to them. You will not regret choosing this company.

Would highly recommend. Staff in at the West Park office (thanks Jen and Amie) were very professional, helpful and did exactly what was promised. Throughout the viewing process they kept us up to date, always had a named contact who was prompt to respond to questions. When it came to completing the sale - we had many issues agents in the chain and solicitors, however Jen and Amie chased up, kept us informed and I felt were always working in our best interests.

Whilst Dacres, Son & Hartley were in essence working for the vendor I found them extremely helpful from my very first phone call. They were kind, friendly and extremely approachable with any questions I had. At one point I thought my sale would not go through if the vendors didn't move out on a certain day as promised. I voiced my concerns to the agents and in less than an hour they called me back after speaking to their client and were happy to allay my fears. Nothing was too much trouble and I have no hesitation in recommending them. Should I ever need the services of an estate agent they would be my first call. Thank you Dacres for everything you helped me with.

A disappointing service

Such a disappointing service from Dacres. Getting to the point of having your home valued is a big thing, especially in the current climate. And having worked hard on making significant improvements to the house, the descriptions received by the valuer were unfair, mostly negative and insulting. There was a lot of talking and very little listening. Realistic and constructively critical comments are one thing, insults are another and there are ways in which you can support and guide a potential vendor without making them feel so uncomfortable and upset in the process. Sadly, this isn't an estate agent I would either recommend or use based on this.

Absolutely recommend the team at the Knaresborough branch of Dacre, Son & Hartley. Nick's local knowledge was obvious during his market appraisal, as was his understanding of his client base. Anita managed the "paperwork" involved in getting mum's bungalow on to the market. The bungalow attracted many viewings, all dealt with by the sales team, keeping me updated at all times. Unfortunately, the original purchaser dropped out but the team had several other interested parties lined up. We were fortunate to receive two further offers, one of course accepted and I trust the new owners are happy in their new home. Special mention to Harriet and Sue who were both involved in viewings and were very understanding of the emotions involved in selling mum's bungalow on her behalf. Thank you all for a very professional job and successful outcome.

From the day my house was put on sale I was impressed by the efficient and competent way the agent dealt with requests. All through the process of selling i was given support and considered information on what was happening. It was reassuring.. I was continually kept informed as to what was happening. After the house was sold and I was having to deal with solicitors with the exactly opposite motivational traits, the estate agent kept negotiating between their office and myself which offered me encouragement and progress information i would not have had. Terrible service, unethical and will screw you over as a buyer as soon as look at you. Had an issue with our sale, but they stated they'd keep the chain together. They didn't, they have said they were contacted by someone who found out, but there was no need to do this. We were back procedable by the Wednesday. On the Thursday EVENING they showed the property again, having never informed us this was happening.

Sharp Practice

As per the 15+ negative reviews already written about this so called Agency NOTHING has changed. Thank God that due to their sharp practice I a cash buyer was not even disclosed to the seller nor afforded a viewing of the property I wished to purchase. I was told," Don't bother going to the house it's just been sold". I was 2miles from the house on the Date and Time agreed for my "Viewing" !!!! It transpired it was sold the day before and they didn't have the courtesy to tell me nor the owner who wanted a "Cash Buyer" NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!!!

I recently purchased a property from this company through their Knaresborough branch.On the day of completion I was advised by my solicitor after the monies had all been transferred to contact them regarding the release of the keys.I did so and spoke to the rudest person I have come across for a long time called Anita.She was most unhelpful and could not wait to put the phone down on me.I had to stop her several time from disconnecting the call in order to find out when the keys would be available.This is not what you expect on the day of moving which is stressful enough.Customer service training definitely needed

When my Mother in law passed away we contacted 3 agents with a view to valuing the property and subsequently selling it. All three were impressive, but Dacres seemed to offer something a bit extra, and this was proved when we came to sell the property. Nothing was too much trouble, and both the manager and negotiator were constantly in touch. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dacres to anybody wishing to sell a Knaresborough property.
