Save your time and stay well clear of this company when it comes to lettings. After speaking to a friend who recently had a similar experience to myself, I realised that the experience I had must be a regular occurrence, which is what enticed me to write this review. Firstly communication from Starts is non existent. Promises of call backs which never happened, relaying information to the landlord which never happened. What they are extremely good at is paying lip service just to get you off the phone or out their premises. I offered to sign a 12 month contract and pay the 12 months up front but starts said they had spoken to the landlord who declined my offer, to say I was shocked was an understatement, considering I could run my business while covid was on, also meant the property wouldn't be vacant. I'd just like to add that the member of staff they sent out to show me round, was part of the private lettings who couldn't answer a single question I had about the premises. Taking this all in to consideration it was quite obvious that they already had someone lined up for the premises as they were in the premises less than 2 weeks later and would you believe it over covid their having to shut. Well done Starts on that, very professional. Without getting in to too much detail, my friend experienced an almost identical scenario with starts. Poor communication and lies being at the forefront of their experience. It's quite clear that starts like to look like they have lots of premises / properties available to lease but they already have tenants lined up. So as my review begins, STAY WELL CLEAR there's much better letting agents in the Cornwall who I would highly recommend. UPDATE........ Surprising how quick I get a response when I put up a negative review. Shame you didn't put the same effort in to responding to the questions I had at the time of this scenario. From reading your response I see you're trying palm this off and try and make out I'm angry & upset due to not being successful, which is complete and utter rubbish. At no point have you touched upon your poor communication or tried to defend the fact you didn't even put my offer to the landlord direct. As I said, the same thing happened to a friend of mine, where you didn't even put their offer to the landlord direct. I'm not going to repeat myself and people can make their own mind up reading my review. Have a great day and maybe stick to handing out ice lollies to get your 5 star reviews.

Alex Cole. Alex Cole is a sales representative for the company. We bought a new build through his daddy’s company (David Cole Homes) and he may as well have not been there. Not answering his phone or responding to voicemails, not responding to our questions within the emails, not answering our questions over the phone, not meeting us on site when we were there and he was LOCALLY working. The construction team sold the house to us. NOT ALEX. ***He didn’t even meet us at our house to deliver our keys on the move in date. We had to source keys from the construction team working on the house next door.***, read that again. Live wires hanging out the walls, no carpet laid, back doors that won’t close... (THIS IS A NEW BUILD) he gave us a cash incentive to reach a date to move in that he himself could not reach, we reached it and he did not. He still has not EVER reached out to help us, even though all we ask for is communication from him. Even if just a text. We have been so so so patient.... And somehow him not meeting HIS incentive-driven date was our fault. He has been impolite, uneducated about his trade and had no idea what was going on throughout the whole the sales process. He didn’t up-sell anything to us within the new build (where he could have used his *non-existent* initiative and made some commission out of us) when he had months to make personalised changes. The service we have had, start to finish, has been appalling from start and co. Alex Cole is a reflection of start and co, so no I would never recommend start and co to anyone. When we had to go into the office to pick up the keys his colleague told us he was ”hiding out back”. We just had to laugh and walk off... humour is our preferred route to deal with this now.. enough upset has been caused. No professionalism due to age and inexperience. His clients are hard working people HE MAKES MONEY OFF OF. And his service is poor to none. This isn’t a dig at the rental team at start and co, I haven’t had the pleasure to work with them. This is about Sales. If you wants respect and an air of dignity about where you invest you money, steer clear of start and co. I’m not expecting a response from start and co, as the level of service is disgraceful... but I’d love for them to try and make good of this appalling situation. This is a £375k home. I moved to newquay and was staying in a winter let until I could find a permanent flat to call home which I’ve now been in this one three months. When looking for properties I contacted many estate agents in the newquay area which many either didn’t get back to you or made the experience difficult, Going through start and co was very easy and what I loved is how they made the whole experience personal, I was shown around the property by Gary and the lovely phone call I received a couple of days later telling me it was mine also dealing with Paige over emails you get quick replies which seems happy to help, positive and personal compared to the other estate agent for my previous flat. Overall this has been a really positive experience, I have recommended them to many people who have asked and I’ll use them again if I ever choose to move
