We switched from Uline to Grainger and disaster

We switched from Uline to Grainger and ordered load control for a trailer (bars & straps) online. It shipped Monday, as two tracking numbers, and expected delivery date was Tuesday. Tuesday, the Fedex driver cannot seem to find a delivery address - it's a 10,000 square foot warehouse. Both were reset for delivery Wednesday - nothing doing. By this point, we need equipment Thursday morning, so we ordered by Grainger's deadline of 5pm on Wednesday for UPS delivery on Thursday by 10.30am, and changed the original Fedex delivery addresses to a retail store nearby, because two strikes with Fedex and we did not want a third (with likely the same driver). Thursday morning, UPS tracking shows delivery scheduled for Friday.

Fast shipping and good support

Ordered a specific DeWalt combo kit that was sold out everywhere else locally. Shipping was surprisingly fast and got here in two days. The box was a little banged up on the corner but the tools inside were perfectly fine. Customer service actually picked up the phone right away when I called to confirm the warranty info. Solid experience overall

All the advertising in the world…

All the advertising in the world doesn't make up for crappy products. Their slogan is meaningless when the products they provide are sub-standard. The carboard boxes I got from them were so pathetic and basically unusable unless I was willing to take the time to re-glue and re-form them. That is unacceptable. The worst boxes I have even been shipped in my 25 years of doing business. Bought through Zoro-not their fault-Grainger's fault as they are the drop shipper for Zoro. I used Grainger back in the 1960 when WW was alive and I can assure you this never would have happened if he were still around. Exactly what happens when the founder builds a great company then incompetent staff tear it down.

Definitely will not come back to Grainger

I don't normally shop at Grainger but I found a particular item that I needed the next day they had it in stock so I ordered it for curbside pickup. I get to Grainger location on West 16th Street in Indianapolis. I can't see any way to visibly check in for the curbside. So I call what I thought was the store and end up getting routed to an 800 number like so many businesses do. Annoying by the way. Then as I'm on hold I went and signed into my account and found there was a way to check in there so while I wasn't hold with the first lady helping me I went ahead and checked in and it said someone would be out shortly I waited for 10 more minutes so I'm multiple customers going in and out and then there was no one in the parking lot and still no one coming out. I also would like to point out that the 800 customer service who tried to be helpful they couldn't get the store to respond neither. So I called back to customer service and at that point was very frustrated because I've been there for probably a total of a half hour and at that point I just said cancel the order. So my opinion some of the worst customer service I've had in a long time anywhere. Definitely will not be coming back to this place for anything.

Is Customer Service Not a Thing Anymore?

I had ordered some eye bolts via our online account on 5/14. It said they would be available on 5/16 by 4pm. Perfect, I needed them on Saturday 5/17 - however Grainger is closed on weekends, so I knew we had a small window to work with. I called on 5/16 to check on the status and was told the bolts were on the truck and that I would receive an email as soon as they were offloaded. 4pm came and went. Of course, no update. Grainger closes at 4:30pm, so we had to come up with a different plan. Now it is Tuesday, 5/20 and the bolts are still not available for pick up, as it appears online. I reach out again to Grainger, first via their chat option, and was told (by a rep named Jason) that Grainger does not offer discounts/refunds/credits for missing their "estimated delivery date". I ended up calling because I believe in doing my due diligence and sometimes the sentiment can be lost via text. I spoke with a Jay this time via telephone. Before I could even finish my statement regarding the delay, Jay interjected that the bolts are in fact ready for pick up and have been since yesterday (5/19). I refreshed the order online, which continued to read "processing". I quipped back that the order has not been update online and I hadn't received anything via email, as originally stated. I requested some type of financial relief for the inconvenience. I felt as though the agent was trying to be condescending when he said, "What do you mean financial relief?" to which I clarified I was hoping to receive a discount, whether a credit or partial refund for the inconvenience they caused. "Grainger doesn't do that" he asserted with disgust. Clearly Grainger does not value customer service which is painfully obvious after these interactions. I cancelled the order. I also made mention of the fact that they keep sending us an endless stream of catalogs and mailers. I had requested they stop this months ago and they did tell me that it could take some time for it to stop but I submitted that request just after the new year. It has gotten out of hand. So, I submitted yet another request to stop with the pointless mailers. Here's to hoping it stops now. It seems so wasteful. Who is actually looking at those things? Everything I need to see is online.

WW Grainger GO AWAY

This company can improve by making their ads on YouTube go away. YouTube is my only social media. In the last year I have been inundated with W.W. Grainger. A really good company, that offers valuable products and services, does not need to place ad videos. They can rely on their extremely happy customers to tell the world how fantastic they are. Trust Pilot states that Grainger has not responded to customer complaints on this website. I suggest you begin with disgruntled customers.

Complete failure to focus on working folks

I ordered replacement parts for our roasting ventilation system thinking it would be a quick pickup, but it turned into a total nightmare. Only half the order was actually at the branch when I arrived, and management flat out refused to release the items unless I paid cash on the spot, completely ignoring our valid business credit line. You simply cannot run a coffee shop when a vendor wastes your travel time during a busy week, messes up your order logs, and blames the customer instead of making it right.

Ordering nightmare.

The 1 star is for the customer service rep that was trying to help. Twice I ordered a boltless shelving unit and one extra shelf for our company's warehouse, and twice it was cancelled. I was told the first time the cancellation was due from me not picking up the item within 5 days of the store receiving the item. I was waiting to pick up both at once, so I re-ordered the two items, the customer service rep that took the order said she put a not in the order to hold the items until both were in the store, so that I could pick both up at the same time. I hadn't received any emails regarding shipping updates, so I called to check up, and was just told the order was cancelled again, 3 days after I placed the second order. I should have received an email, of which I did not. After some looking into it, the items were labelled hazardous, and the Las Vegas store will not accept them, oh and that cancellation code does not send an automatic email to the customer, so I'm left in the dark. She asked if I would accept shipping to our warehouse, and I said yes, if you will cover the shipping costs. She said she tried, and the higher up said they cannot do that. So now I am needing to pay over $200 in shipping. I said I own a business, and when we mess up, we make it right with the customer, to retain that customer, and shipping costs can be deducted on your taxes. They are choosing not to make this right. She apologized and wished she could do more, and now I have to find a company other than Uline, and Grainger for our warehouse needs. Good, ethical businesses are dying off to businesses that don't care about the consumer. That will be the last time I order from Grainger.

Got the email saying our tools were ready for counter pickup. Sent a guy through forty minutes of BQE traffic to get them. Counter guy refuses to release the order on our account and demands a personal card. Had support on speaker telling him the account was clear, still wouldn't hand them over. Whole crew sat around doing nothing for two hours. Absolute waste of time

Poor customer service

In a way it is kinda sad. I have been doing business with Grainger for nearly 30 years. Now they seem to have lost their focus on the customer. Recently needed an item quickly and search led me to Grainger since they would have it available to pick up the next day. Price a little high but availability what I needed. Order and confirmation email said by 10:30 the next day. Drove 20 miles to pick up and only half of order there. So we are left unable to service our customer in addition to being put out with time wasted on travel. On checking email later found message saying only part of order would be available. Apparently management now believes they are dealing with 14 year old girls that check their email every 15 minutes rather than working folks. Good service would be a text saying order had been altered from what was promised so I could make other arrangements. We all carry our phones. Not that hard to do if you are thinking about servicing the customer. This is just complete failure to focus on the customer. There are other options which I will use in the future. Company needs management that actually knows what it is like to work for a living.

We are a large company that spends a…

We are a large company that spends a good amount of money on tools, supplies and equipment. We placed a nearly $3k order with them based off details per their website and catalog. We received missing product. They tried to tell us it was our fault for ordering the wrong product because the one we ordered does not come with the tools listed on their site. Despite agreeing with us that the item is falsely advertised, they still wouldn't send us the tools we needed. They wanted us to return a $3k large order (meaning a HUGE amount of effort to re-box everything and package correctly for safe transport), and place a new order, instead of just simply sending us the missing set of tools that maybe totaled $200? None of their logic made sense and the fact they were blaming us for their clear advertising error left a terrible taste and experience. Never in all my years of vendor relations have I ever experienced this. Will not be ordering again from them.

promises not kept online and ordered a part common…

Went online and ordered a part common part air pressure switch made by Dwyer online. Said they could have it in 2 days. My machine is down. My production is down. I'm losing money. I went to my account to check on the status and it was not in the account. I called Granger gave them the order number. They looked it up and told me that that part has not been ordered yet and it will be 7 days until you get it. It's a very common part. They don't seem to stalk anything and they've just buy from second party so I ended up going to Amazon prime and picking it up next day when I asked them if they could do anything about it they said there's nothing they can do. It's not like they have experts working at the counter that can help you so everybody out there. Just order your own parts online. Get it through Amazon prime and just avoid going to Granger. I usually don't write reviews but this is one because my whole operation is down and that was a promise that I would have it in a couple days. So whoever does their websites doing a good job making promises that the follow-ups. Another thing and their commercials say they're in the business to make you money. I don't think so. The good thing is I'm taking this part back getting my money back and Granger doesn't have anything home Depot or supplyhouse.com can't provide you. Granger has been in business a very long time. I've been dealing with them for over 40 years on and off. Can't remember a good experience about 20 years ago. I think they got bought out and someone thinks things improved then but it's my experience lately just go online. Do you know which parts you need? You don't need their help. I don't know why I wasted my time right in this review. I'm as bad as the rest of them. We call it the new way of working.

Grainger is HORRIBLE

My company is large and orders a lot of material from Grainger. I for one have been waiting on an order for 3 weeks and is supposedly in transit. Every time I call Grainger, they tell they will contact the shipper and get right back to me. They never call me back although I call them every day. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM GRAINGER AGAIN . MCMASTER CARR IS A WAY BETTER OPTION. GRAINGER IS HORRIBLE

Grainger Helpline Issue

Grainger fails to conceptualize appropriate decorum that a company should feel obliged to comply with. I experienced some of the rudest people in their helpline. Now, they shamelessly flirt their brand in an area where they have no business. There I was, locked behind a 15 second barrier between me and freedom. What stood in the way was none other than Grainger's corporate machinations. I am aghast at the despicable methods utilized by Grainger's elitist owners. Donald G. Macpherson, this is for you. Your greed has gone unchecked for too long. Your hunger still hasn't been sated from witnessing the total 3:00hrs I have waited on Youtube looking at (pardon my language) shitty a** ads without a skip button. At least give me the false sense of hope that I can not watch your ad. Yet you lack the basic human compassion to understand my pains. I hope you will do better in the future. (your an a**hole)

I cannot even buy an Air Compressor motor at Graingers.

I have had an account with Graingers since 1983. I knew when they started selling to the public something fundamental had changed. I cannot even buy a Dayton Air Compressor motor for my Speedaire Air Compressor. They tried to sell me some monstrosity that won't fit the system I need it for. The employees are Polite, but they don't KNOW anything. I do not even recognize the place anymore. Everything you buy as to be ordered and waited for. The Warehouse in the back of the store appears to be empty. I would give them Zero Stars, but one star is the lowest they have. I am tired of driving up there just to hear "we don't stock it". also, Trust Pilot will not allow me to record the Correct Date which was yesterday March 3. 2026

Grainger runs false advertisement

Grainger runs false advertisement. I ordered 6 sheets of rubber, three foot by 5 foot, .097 thick for $9.99 ea. Item#841UF5 this product was being shipped to store #610 in Pittsburgh, Pa. When I drove 38 miles to pick it up, the rubber sheets were only one foot square. I then showed the person working the counter my order with the item number. He could see that it was 3 ft buy 5ft. He then had no answer for me and referred me to his manager Eric. Eric after looking at my order said that he and the company would not back this order up and that it was deleted. SO BUYER BEWARE WHEN ORDERING FROM GRAINGER.

Late order, terrible customer service.

4 days late on an order pick up with 0 notifications or mentions of a delay. Live chat support only copy and pastes scripts and does not help. Phone support, both regular and supervisors just as unhelpful. Either the agent laughs and disconnects the call, the supervisor tells you it is late and that is that, or you are told you are yelling so they can end the chat. There was 0 willingness to look into what happened, 0 willingness to express that this is not a common issue, and 0 willingness at all to want to help the customer, just hang up the phone. Terrible customer service. Terrible ship time. Terrible care for the customer's needs. I will not shop here again, I will choose Uline from here on out. A bit further of a drive, but they are EXTREMELY on top of things and will notify you the moment any incidents/delays/whatever happens with your order.

Wish I could give zero stars

Wish I could give zero stars. Ordered something online and got a confirmation email saying it was something else. Contacted customer service and was told that someone would follow up the next day. They didn’t, so I called again and told them I wanted what I ordered, not what they said I was getting. Customer service said that they contacted manufacturer and that I was getting what I ordered on the website. So I waited for it to arrive, then drove over an hour away to pick it up pulling a 25ft trailer, just to find out that they sent what the confirmation email said when I told multiple people that I did not want it. All customer service offered was an apology and told me the website had been corrected, that the information was incorrect.

We have been a customer for over 35 years. They now review your credit with them ( Note we pay under the 30 day terms)every time you order. They called it an "EVER CHANGING CREDIT LIMIT" Never heard of that one before.. but we were told our account was on hold till they review it. Our serviceman waited 20 minutes for this while he could have been in and out of the store in 10. Maybe not a really big deal, but they( the credit department) told us they will be doing this everytime you come in to order. SMH... Not the best business practice. I could see doing this once or even twice a year, but everytime. Good way to lose customer base.

Prices are OUTRAGEOUS

I was hoping to buy a router and router table through them because I can use a corporate purchasing points site. However, during my course of looking for reviews of several routers, I discovered that Grainger's pricing is absolutely insane. And not in a good way. For example: Porter Cable 690LR on their site is $238.25. Amazon? It's $129.63!!!! Want another? Porter Cable benchtop router table #698. $268.50 on Grainger. Amazon? $119.99! A Dewalt DW616 router: $206.25. On Amazon it's $128.99. There's no possible way to justify why or how they are charging double the prices. No thanks. Oh, and PLEASE remove all of the bogus 5-star reviews posted around March 2014. How is it even remotely possible those magically appeared on the same day - and most to ONLY praise a re-design. Please, people. Stop insulting everyone's intelligence.

AC drip pan online

Was purchasing an AC drip pan online; when picking up the team member, Ryan, said he wanted to show it to me first as it was bent; said if I didn't like it he would gladly reorder one for me. The first pan was slightly bent, and while speaking with Ryan, another employee said that they had received 3 other ones. He brought them all out so I could choose which one I wanted. Ryan was customer oriented, courteous, and friendly. This was my first time buying from Grainger, but would certainly return due to the customer service alone!
