Zero stars if I could

If I could rate zero stars i think I would. Our experienced started really well with the Earlsfield branch, really friendly and nice. As soon as we were in the property...we've had next to no help with any issues. The property was filthy when we moved in and they refused to clean it, we've had multiple issues such as broken back door and rat infestation and I've had to chase and chase them to get a response. It shouldn't be this hard to get things sorted. I have ended up threatening to get an exterminator in myself and taking it out of the rent. Really poor service and wouldn't recommend to anyone

Absolutely disgusting service

Absolutely disgusting service. was so shocked with the service it actually made me laugh. Feel so sorry for anyone trying to sell the home with Barnard marcus in worcester park. I’d seen a property on line that i wanted to view as the phones still wasn’t working and nobody returned my call from another branch I drove there to try and book a viewing. The older lady in the sales team came over and said that house is under offer she then dumped the details of the under offer house on the table and walked off. There wasn’t and conversation regarding other properties similar or budget. She may as well of said “ I hate my job and don’t want your custom”. So shocked and will never use or recommend again. on the bright side my £500,000 will be going to someone helpful.

Shivendra Ji - Thank you very much for your support during the mortgage application process. You really have in-depth knowledge of finance. To be honest , initially we thought you were taking a lot of time (we weren't prepared for that much time just before the lockdown) but in hindsight, now we feel that you did the right thing with the application process. You answered all our silly questions ( i am really a painfully curious/inquisitive person and ask a lot of questions no matter what) patiently regarding the mortgage. A big thank you to you for all your support and help for making this happen. You have also been an oasis of humorous relief when I have found myself in a stressful situation. Kecia - Seriously Kecia, the feeling of gratitude for you in me is unfathomable. During this whole process I must have emailed you and called you more than 50 times ( maybe more i have not counted), but you have always replied patiently and positively. To be honest with you if it were not you then this deal wouldn't have been made possible. You have been chasing on our behalf all the time and we have pestered you a lot. I really feel you have walked an extra mile and done more than expected from you to make this happen. A big thank you to you.PositiveResponsiveness

An absolutely awful branch of Barnard…

An absolutely awful branch of Barnard Marcus (Thornton Heath) and gives the whole company a bad name! As a buyer you should avoid at all cost, they will lie and cheat you and be boastful that they did so.Alongside they are super unresponsive to emails and never return your calls, they will also blame you for not responding. According to these ‘experts’ 3 weeks is too long in a global pandemic to secure a mortgage, even though you can’t get an appointment for 4 weeks from application and banks are constantly changing their criteria. They put properties back on the market whilst you are in the middle of purchasing them without even telling you and are super happy with themselves when they cause everything to fall through, so close to the completion. The worst of them all is Romael, who is there residential sales manager, who is literally the rudest most arrogant person you will ever have dealings with. He does not know how to interact with other human beings or even how to relay bad news that he has caused. In fact he thinks he is doing a wonderful job messing with people and has no remorse what so ever- In his words “ I have no obligation to you ( buyer) only the seller, and I have done a great job as I have got them more money.” No apologies, no communication, literally has no compassion whatsoever. Stay well clear of them as they are sneaky scammers, who have no problem stabbing you in the back, whilst they laugh.

AVOID

Had a VERY bad experience with Barnard Marcus especially with one of their ''Lettings Branch Manager'' Charlie from the Worcester Park branch. We were highly interested in one of their properties advertised on ZOOPLA, which we immediately requested to do a viewing for. After signing documents, including documents giving our consent to do the necessary checks, we have paid a holding deposit of £496 for a property they decided to put online again without notifying us. It gets worse. After doing the checks and after paying the holding deposit, we were told that we don't ''earn enough'' for this property so we would require a guarantor who could cover the rent. Now, prior to signing all agreements including our moving in date on the 15th of June, we have been asked what our gross annual salary was - between myself and my partner which was at that time, more than enough otherwise we wouldn't have agreed to anything. After doing all necessary checks, they then concluded that we were £4000 short annually. Based on this we ''weren't able'' to afford the house as they concluded this by calculating our salary after tax which is obviously less than our gross. No rocket science is needed for this BUT hey ho, were dealing with a salesman. This leaves me with the question: WHY haven't they asked us what our salary would be after expenses? We could've made our own calculations prior to agreeing to anything. However, they have taken that opportunity away from us by taking our money and letting us sign for situations we could've avoided by asking very simple questions - and that's coming from the ''Lettings Branch Manager'' ????? - So before you decide to rent from them, please ensure you ask the right questions as they might slip you through an agreement you end up regretting or worse, they take money away from people ''who can't afford houses''. You'll also end up being ignored by different agents - or they try to recall their statements in emails to cover their own ass. Now thats teamwork! AVOID.

A few words to express our thanks and appreciation to both Sam Humby and Sophie Kiely for all their efforts and work on our behalf. Barnard Marcus in Feltham have been acting as Agents for our property for over four years now. We originally chose to go with the company, due to our initial impressions, following our first meeting with Sam all those years ago. He was very professional and helpful, and gave us confidence and trust in Barnard Marcus. I would like to stress how more recently, both Sam and Sophie have been very helpful and provided excellent service, very often going the extra mile! In May, the original tenants decided to move out after four years and Sam and Sophie stepped in with great advice and support. They helped find new tenants and kept us in the loop at all times. They helped facilitate a very smooth change over, and the transition went extremely well and very smoothly. In addition, we had quite a number of administrative things to deal with and they were most helpful in sorting them all out for us. Whenever we have a query or question without doubt both Sam and Sophie respond incredibly quickly and are diligent and conscientious in achieving a solution. It is always a pleasure to liaise with them. We have the highest regard for their work and are very appreciative of all their efforts on our behalf and we wanted to bring this to your attention. I called to enquire about a listing on…

I called to enquire about a listing on their website. Having phones two different offices and being told that it was dealt with by a different office that I should google (really poor service) I spoke to the correct office. I enquired and they said that those listing had been sold and they would be removed upon completion of the sale. I asked if i could leave my details incase they didn't complete and was informed that they would complete. Didn't take my details for alternate properties or if anything else arose. Terrible. Avoid at all costs.

So this is why real estate agents have a bad name...

I was a tenant with Barnard and Marcus and my all-round experience has been horrible with them. The property we were rented out had several issues from the beginning of our tenancy, and in the moment we got there we were assured that these issues (ex. window not closing properly, sink with a leak) would be taken care of ASAP. Not so: it took us 6 months of constant badgering to get them fixed, with all the issues getting worse in that time-span (and an attempt on their part to blame it on our own use of the house)! To terminate the tenancy (so that we could get out of this circle of hell), we were told that the only possible way was for them to find a new tenant. So, we were told that they were making sure to do so... not so: a month later we checked and saw that our property was not listed anywhere. We contacted them about it and did not get an answer back for another month, until they decided we were worthy of their communication because we had decided to withhold our month's rent. Overall, B&M is a horrible company to work with. They lack transparency, have poor communication standards, and do not seem to understand their role as an housing agency. I advise fellow tenants not to rent from B&M. Furthermore, I also advise landlords not to list their property with them: they will not do it justice and will be ready to blame you for their own shortcomings. I also advise the few professional individuals in the team to find another place to work at: you guys tried your best, and I honestly appreciated it all year long, but it's not your responsibility to make this agency survive. Jump ship while you can.

The feltham branch are very goof at…

The feltham branch are very goof at finding tenants however once the tenants are in the communication after is very poor. Several emails sent and you rarely get a response. And the property management team are quite forceful in the way they demand repairs and work to be done immediatley. If you choose to go with one of their engineers which gives them commission based, I found they overcharge by at least 20%.

Sold my house through this agency

Sold my house through this agency: AVOID. These people are below any professional standards. It is because of this type of incompetence and arrogance that Real Estate agents don't always have a good reputation. Shame on Barnard Marcus:- no agents during viewings or late, no contact for 2 months between offer and exchange, property photos were not reflecting the house still after asking to change them, 5 different people to deal with, no support between offer and exchange etc..., arrogance and greed is their motto. I regret I did not use Keating services who happened to be excellent.C.Charon

Barnard Marcus Earls Court

Barnard Marcus Earls Court; Leighton Buzzard sequence homesI wish it was possible to give negative stars. We started renting a place as students without working water or heating, in response to this the agency did nothing! Now im chasing my deposit! They have not been able to reach the landlord since 5 months. Emmauel Durou, a wealthy Deloitte employee living in Dubai. I hope you are happy stealing money from students without even supplying running water in the kitchen and heating in the middle of February. Please dont support this terrible company which takes money in any way they can! They have made an enemy for the future!

THE WORST OF THE WORST

THE WORST OF THE WORST! Left my mum and my little brother homeless! A holding deposit was placed on a rental property and she was promised that everything was going smoothly and that she needn't worry and that she can sign the contract the day before. 4 days prior to proposed check in date they called and said the property is no longer available as the tenants are not moving out and they have been problematic in the past and did not move out 3 months prior. WHY would they withhold such vital information??? Let alone re-market this property and lie to her? Whilst there isn't a legal leg to stand on they should have some moral compass! My mum has then had to seek an extremely expensive/unaffordable short term let to avoid homelessness and Barnard Marcus are refusing to at least cover the fraction of the costs incurred as they could not offer an alternative rented property. I am appalled, angered and trust this company to be held accountable for the misactions. This is the Earslfield Barnard Marcus Branch.

This company is a joke

This company is a joke. They hound you. No ethics whatsoever. You try to remove your email address from them by unsubscribing to be told your email address is incorrect. This has been going on for months. To say I am angry is an understatement. The irony is they have just lost my business in Tooting from me and a couple of friends whom are selling.

Pressured to see their broker for no reason as potential buyer

Went on a viewing with them as a potential buyer. On the phone I was asked to come in person and see their mortgage broker before I could view as apparently this was a request from the seller. I made clear I already had an agreement in principle from a lender and and spoken to 3 different brokers already so was not interested in meeting with theirs but they were adamant I had to come in person even though my broker who obtained my AIP would have been happy to speak to them and confirm the property was affordable for me.I went in to see their broker (getting up early on a Saturday to do so) taking the requested documents (3 months statement, payslips etc for me and my partner which was a hassle to pull together at short notice) only to find that their broker didn't even look at these as she was happy to rely on the AIP I already had - clearly this could have been confirmed over the phone and email. The broker then offered to to through the mortgages she had access with me which I had clearly said I didn't want given that I'd already done this with several brokers. This felt very much like conditional selling (we won't let you view the property or make an offer unless you use our services) which is illegal. This echoes some other reviews on here where people have had similar experiences of being pressured to use their in house services.I complained to the broker who was very understanding and said she would raise it with the sales manager. The appointment had been booked by the sales team so was really their fault rather than the brokers.I also complained to the agent when we went on our viewing who first tried to blame the broker even though it was him who insisted I had to go in person, then said it was a requirement from the seller. The seller may well have required them to verify affordability but I very much doubt the seller would insist on every potential buyer coming to see BM's broker face to face as that seems ridiculous.I was very annoyed at my time being wasted and has put me off dealing with them as a buyer as I feel they will just make the whole process more difficult than it needs to be. I would think twice before going to view or putting an offer on a property where they are the agent. This was the Kennington branch.

Very poor.

Very poor.Buying a flat in Acton. Started the process for a new build in October and told we would be in before Christmas. It is now mid January and we still have not exchanged or recieved completion date. They lied and said they couldnt complete before Christmas as there was an error in a document, which nobody shared with me (so impossible to change). It turned out the orignal document was correct. The office staff are good but higher up (sales progression) do not care at all.Would not recommend - even with a new build has taken 3 months.
