I made an appointment with their Mitcham Lane office to view a property in Vibart Gardens on the 18th of April at 1pm. The agent mentioned that the traffic between their office and the property is bad and sometimes can take more than an hour to get there so, when the agent failed to show up, I waited for 20 minutes before phoning his office. Much to my surprise, he answered the phone. Clearly he has forgotten our appointment. He tried to make excuses by saying that someone in his office has deleted all his appointments in his diary! He then asked me to wait for him. It was absolutely shocking. I have never encountered another estate agent like this and hope I never will again. I certainly will not do any business with them, at least not with that office.

This “estate agent” is a joke, me and my flatmate were meant to move into one of their flats and the agent agreed via text that the flat would repaired and the damp on the ceiling would be fixed before we moved. Low and behold it wasn’t and we never had access to the letterbox and the car park. After agreeing to an early tenancy we were informed one day at noon we were meant to give the keys back the SAME DAY when me and my flatmate work full time jobs and cannot get away from work easily. Also there is the matter that it has been nearly a month since we have given back our keys and we have not had the deposits back even though we have cleaned the flat of the previous tenants rubbish. Why people are still choosing these scammers is beyond me, they have taught me a very expensive lesson. I warn everyone not use them due to the stress they have caused me over the last 6 months.

I don't even know where to begin with how truly terrible the Barnard Marcus Mitcham branch have been with out sale.- Manager just left without any notice.- Multiple offers accepted and buyers pulling out at the last minute due to a) mortgages not being accepted (being handled by Barnard Marcus) b) personal circumstances (no further investigation/reasoning given) c) not being given the correct information by the branch as to the status of the property.- Never received one single offer in writing as required BY LAW- Never providing feedback on viewings- woefully underprepared when conducting viewing. Heard them give the wrong information (fundamentally important info like the property is a leasehold and they told people freehold) - impossible to get hold of- consistently providing documentation littered with errors, that I have had to correct- one of their agents forwarded me an email containing the personal information of a potential buyer including private data that should be protected by themAnd this is just a snapshot of how terrible. I will be referring them to the property ombudsman as they have been nothing but unprofessional and negligent in the handling of our sale. We ended up appointing another agent and the contrast in professionalism and service is staggering.

The agent was extremely bad. You moved The appointment from 5pm to 1.15pm. I was there at 1.08pm and waited outside as any doorbell was present. At 1.18 someone exited the building so I took advantage of the door open to get inside where I found the agent who told me was too late for an inspection. After I told him that I was just basically waiting and anyway only 4min late to the scheduled time, he still refused as he told me he was the only person working and had too many overlapping appointments. I had litterally to beg as I took a day off work to attend and travelled from zone 4 nw just for that apparently 10min appointment. Anyway. He got upset and annoyed but anyway convinced to show me the flat in litterally 2minutes. Which obviously was not sufficient. Never felt like that to a house view. Worse estate and service ever received. And by the way the house was in awful conditions and the tenants complained about structural problems and leeks that never been fixed.

Unprofessional. Unfortunately I was lied to. They even convinced me to move from another estate agent and claimed they had a list of people who wanted to rent. Thought I would give them a try and a complete waste of time. I gave them my feedback which I don't believe was welcomed. Hence why I will write here this negative experience. End of day. Don't b$ and promise what you cannot deliver Barnard Marcus in London

Zuzanna Kubani conducted the viewings for us in Earl’s Court and Chelsea and if I could have rated her a 10 out of 5, I would have. She went over and above her call of duty in every possible way - from saving a parking spot for us to guiding us to every destination, she was prompt, proficient, courteous and generally absolutely lovely. She always took care to keep the vendors informed both before and after our visit -in case they wanted to leave the property before our arrival and return to it after we’d left. Im happy with the speed and dexterity with which Zuzanna and Barnard Marcus arranged our viewings.

After much deliberation and back and forth I agreed to let BM to market my property. Its all started very pleasant with one persona than he disappeared and ended up dealing with the James the manager. He never returned any calls. Getting an update calls with complete rubbish-just for the sake of it so they look they are updating you etc etc..Agents came around whom had no idea of the property, they were late but couldn't be bother to let anyone know. Ever time is a different agent, clueless..Absolutely they had no intension of doing anything even after reduced the price. They didn't even respond to the enquiries. No surprisingly they couldn't sell it. They took it off the market without even telling or asking for extension of the contract. Once the contract ended January still waiting for my house keys to be returned. Can I have my keys back please.?Don't waste your time with these people, see the reviews how bad they are. I wish I checked it before agreeing to go with them.

The East Sheen, London branch is the worst estate agency I have ever known. The staff are incompetent, the sales negotiator lies and how they sell any properties is beyond me. I had 6 viewers in 3 months! Despite them being aware of the significance and potential negative impact on my future plans if I did not get an offer during 3 months they still performed well below average. The branch is very poorly run and they clearly have a staff retention problem. My new estate agent in 2 weeks have surpassed their exceptionally poor service already. Despite ending my painful 3 month contract I then get a text message and email booking in a valuation with them for my flat! This is evident of gross incompetence and lack of professionalism I have suffered. Best of luck if using Barnard Marcus you are going to need it.

I not only got the right apartment at the right time but also at the right place. I am so relieved and happy while writing this review. Thanks for all your support with my move.

I will never ever rent a property from Bernard Marcus. The whole process of renting and managing the property i am currently in has been very stressful. The whole company and Sequence who manages the properties are very rude and unprofessional. We get an offer accepted. Then they want to go back on there offer making us pay more rent plus change our move in date. Very unprofessional. Because we liked the property we did accommodate. After moving in, the property was not cleaned and had various maintenance works. Again, we just dealt with it and continued to pay rent on time when no other tenant would do that. The oven breaks down twice in a week taking Sequence over three weeks to sort out. Various emails and calls and we just get ignored. After months of complaining about the hot water not working, our boiler breaks down. Yet again after various emails and calls and we just get ignored. They organise to do an inspection weeks in advance, then they just don't turn up! Wasting my whole day staying at home waiting for someone to come. No calls or emails to apologise or an explanation. They try and book inspections in any day they want and think they can just enter the property without permission by taking there management key. Again, we just deal with it very patiently. Now for months we have had damp and mould problem. I clean the mould every single week to prevent it from getting worse. Again, i get ignored by the company and zero communication when requesting advice. Now we are finally getting a damp survey done, the landlord is refusing to follow the contractors advice and wants a second opinion! A simple fix would be to get an extractor fan in the bathroom! I am very shocked with my experience. Now i have to wait for another damp surveyor to attend the property to say the exact same thing. Most likely from my experience the contractor wont even turn up. I honestly do not get how Sequence can manage a property when they are not even based in London! A simple apology and some communication does go far when i have been very accommodating. No other estate agent would manage a property like this! Absolutely disgusted by this behaviour. Imagine if i decided to ignore all of my own clients.

I scheduled a view for a flat to rent with a Barnard Marcus agent in the Kennington Branch. I couldn't choose the time of the viewing, but I did confirm my attendance and took some time off work, as the appointment was in working hours.When I arrived at the property, the agent did not show up, so I rang the bell and the tenant informed me that the landlord already accepted an offer. I did ring the agency and they confirmed that. They did give me a cold apology about the issue and said that they would give feedback to the agent, however they did not offer to show me more properties available in the area.I was so upset about their lack of care that I asked them to remove my details from their database.

I put a house for sale through Barnard Marcus and even though its competitors kept telling me that Barnard Marcus is not a specialist in higher value homes, which was my case, I stuck with them. Louise and her colleagues were very professional and attentive, they followed the process very dilligently and sure enough an offer came at asking price. When I get back to the market I will surely use them again

Do not use their recommend solicitor. For the start tell end 4 solicitors have changed! Can't get hold of them! They have no ideas what they doing. All my personal detail have been passed onto 4 solicitors! Barnet Marcus in Barnet...very disappointed with them. Not just the uncorrect detail have passed on to the buyer. The agent have tell the buyer i agreed on paying the extend lease fees which i never knew about! I told them no renting first 2 years...again the buyer didn't know! At the end the buyer pull out ! 8 months have wasted ! Can't offer a house i like! Miss my stamp duty free! I have to start all over again. My experience is there some people work for this company can't be trusted !Will not recommend this agents to anyone !

just wanted to write a few words about barnard marcus ( putney branch) as it may go some way to helping people who are considering using them. my property was on sale with them for 4 to 5 months & to say the left hand didnt know what the right hand was doing is an understatement. so much so that after 3 months of being with them their head office would call me and say was i still interested in my property up for sale with them 🤷♂️🙈.... i sold my property finally after using a far better agent ( funny that) and when i got back in contact with the solicitors ( recommended ) to me at the time by b.m ( cavendish).. they were equally as hapless as b.m. you live and learn and if this can be of any use to point people in the right direction of douglas & gordon & away from barnard marcus, it will be worthwhile.

I made an offer with Chris Whetstone Branch 1285 high road. Did not except anything less than asking price. At the beginning I have offered them 10K less than the asking price then Chris back to me he said the landlord will accept only the asking price I waited two weeks after me and my family made very hard decisions we have increased to the asking price.Then Chris said Landlord thinking to increase price even without talking anything with anyone making own decisions playing games.I found this is very unprofessional also we have been disgusted. I have worked with many estate agents I have never come that kind of experience until Barnard Marcus come along. (Wink worth estate agents Nigel I would say 5 star from our experience!)Please could you look in to this for me if you can?With regardsM Bada

My experience with Barnard Marcus was atrocious from when we first moved into our flat (Feb 2020) all the way to now (January 22). When we moved into our flat, it was filthy and multiple things damaged, we raised this issue and nothing was done about it. Throughout our tenancy we had issues such as rat infestation and a broken fridge, amongst other things, I had to threaten to take money out of rent to pay for our new fridge. Since we moved out of the property in October 2021, we still haven't had our deposit back and they're trying to charge us for cleaning of the garden and flat. I have never had such a bad experience of an estate agents in my life and would never ever recommend them to anyone as they are inadequate and all about getting tenants in for the money.

My Fiancee and I were looking for rental properties in the streatham area. We found a property and all was good. We viewed and loved it. The gentleman who we were dealing with was very helpful and informative however his manager who i believe is the lettings manager (ironically his name is banard) is very rude, arrogant and will tell you anything he thinks you want to hear. They even made mistakes with the paperwork and had the audacity to call my Fiancee morally bankrupt for his mistakes! I am fuming to say the least and the only reason I am writing this post is so people know to not waste there time with the Streatham branch... Unless you enjoy being lied to and insulted.

Dealt with east sheen branch. Bunch of liars. You will notice that they dont put anything in an email. They will not response to your emails, they will call you instead. I guess it is easier to lie over the phone. They showed us a flat in Barnes that the seller / buyer about to exchange the contracts. We didnt know what was going on. We made an offer and they used our offer to force actual buyer to increase his. This might be legal but I dont think it is ethical. Very poor. Kevin

I’m currently private renting with Barnard Marcus and I honestly will NOT recommend it. They have put me through hell and back, lied to me on numerous occasions. It takes about 3 weeks for them to even get back to you regarding any issues you have. I just can’t explain the problems and pain they have put me through, it’s honestly so hurtful and I regret signing that contract. I’m just praying to God my 12 months agreement ends quickly so I can move far away from them. I’ve lost so much money and time dealing with Barnard Marcus, never again. I recommend everyone runs far away from them, just a hurtful situation to be in.
