Highly recommend

Our House move was difficult. The sale and purchase both proved challenging, the agents we were selling with and solicitors recommended by them were lacking customer care and seem to forget that moving home is a big deal to the client and extremely stressful in our case. Claire Aitken from Smith and friends (who we purchased through) was the saviour. She was lovely, seemed to really care and simply check in with us regularly to let us know what’s happening even if there wasn’t an update to give, which was very reassuring. She was very professional but in a ‘great with people’ kind of way and in honesty she was the only person who seemed to help us through the process and explained everything in simple terms, as a family who have never moved house before it’s a huge learning curve and this was a vital part of it for us. We now wish we had sold through smith and friends too and would highly recommend Stockton high street branch, they are friendly efficient and understand what you are going through, thanks again Claire and team!

I would highly recommend the Darlington…

I would highly recommend the Darlington team. Michelle was in charge of our sale and gave excellent advice when it came to accepting a slightly reduced cash offer back in March. Unfortunately this took a lot longer than expected for a cash purchase, however this certainly was not due to the lack of support from Michelle who was always friendly & personable. Even when Michelle was absent everyone played their part in investigating my concerns regarding hold ups (work which the solicitors were not carrying out!) even to the point of persisting with contacting the buyers solicitor and buyer when they did not answer the phone! Everyone there worked as a team and if they don't know the answer they persisted until they got an answer and updated me. The sale completed today (5 months on) and I would like to thank everyone for their help & professionalism.

I recently worked with Manj and his team for a house purchase. I cannot recommend this agency enough! Manj was considerate and kept me updated promptly, working on my behalf to ensure a smooth transaction. No question was too trivial for him to answer and as a first time buyer, this kind of help was invaluable - he really is a credit to the agency. I also briefly dealt with Rachel at a stressful time in the transaction, who was incredibly kind and helpful - she made the entire situation much easier to navigate. I definitely recommend the Darlington office of Smith & Friends. Right from the start when Louis valued my property he was very informative, friendly and took great photos. At the start of the sale process I dealt with the majority of staff who were always friendly. Joy was looking after my property and was very friendly & professional keeping in touch throughout. Towards the end, even though she was off work following an operation, she still took the time to keep me up to date and check if I was happy with how things were progressing. My buyer also commented how pleased he was with the communication from Joy. Thank you to all the team. I will definitely use your services again.

Very poor integration and management of…

Very poor integration and management of property purchase from previous owner (Selling on behalf of company who re-possessed the property) Expectation on a sale of a property is professionalism which has lacked in this purchase , when viewing the property I found the property secure and in suitable condition to place a bid. I then privately paid for an independent survey to be completed on the property and when the surveyor attended the property the access was not provided to certain parts of the property (External Balcony). The property was completed on the principle that it was just the wrong set of keys that had been taken on the day of allowing the survey. Trust was then broken as when I was issued the keys on completion I found that there had been a maintenance activity performed on the locking mechanism (barrel changed) and the keys no longer worked in the lock. Meaning that the property was left unsecured on sale which is not acceptable.Furthermore , no keys were provided to access utility supplies which were isolated by the company of which Smith and friends were representing.

The staff at Smith & Friends Darlington were helpful from start to finish. The sale of my home was particularly stressful and emotional for me and had a few hurdles along the way but Joy was always on hand to reassure and guide me, nothing was too much trouble. This was my first experience of selling a home and found overwhelming and confusing at times however the staff were very patient and dealt with my many ‘wobbles’ professionally but in a personal way.
