I was sold a course (Data Analysis) with the promise that it was ideal for beginners and would lead to job opportunities. However, once I paid the high fee, the reality was completely different. The tutors provided had very poor English communication skills and were unable to answer even basic questions. Live video calls only covered extremely basic concepts, and the real learning was left to numerous self-study online courses that were far too advanced for beginners, despite being marketed as beginner-friendly.

I started a course in June 2023 with Maidstone. I started in good faith that I would be fully supported through out, as had been promised. The only communication I had was to let me know I needed to complete my studies 3 months into a years contract. In October, I received an email that they had closed. Pitman (franchise) refused any refunds or additional support. Forcing me to pay the balance to retain access to their portal, but still no support. They are not interested in students, only money.

In 2021 I was made redundant from a position I had held for almost thirty years. At this point, I was considering a career change and early 2022 Career Wales informed me of the REACT scheme. I was given a number of training providers to consider. I researched these and called their relevant offices. The call to Pitman Office in Cardiff was particularly memorable as I spoke to a very helpful lady called Hazia. She was very friendly and displayed genuine interest whilst listening to what training I wanted to undertake and discussed the courses that would help me achieve my goals. This was not my experience with the other training providers and I immediately decided to learn with Pitman even though they were the furthest away of all the training providers I contacted.I chose to enroll in ICDL, Book-Keeping Transactions & Controls 1, and Sage 50 accounts. I was able to complete a large part of the required study at home. The courses were interesting and well set out with the opportunity to take a practice test before the validation test was attempted. For the parts of the training that required me to attend the center in Cardiff, I was always made very welcome by the team and also had a magnificent view of Cardiff Castle. Here I met Phil the Centre Manager who was my main support throughout my time with Pitman Cardiff. He was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, kind, and always happy to help. The team at Pitman Cardiff is fantastic. Their positivity gives the center great energy and I honestly cannot recommend them all highly enough. So good was my experience it gave me a thirst for knowledge and the courage to enroll in a degree course.

After several weeks of trying to get the Birmingham branch to answer their telephone, I finally contacted another branch who kindly said they would pass my details onto the Birmingham branch and would be sent an email containing information about the 3 courses i intended to take. I have more chance of speaking to Elvis than what I have with this branch. I find it ironic that Pitman teach secretarial courses when their own staff cannot carry out basic admin tasks such as answering the telephone and emailing. Have given up on this company before even starting a course -Disappointing

If I could give zero stars I would , they are nothing but a rip off all they care about is getting money off you and I was never told when I started that you can’t get out of the coarse if you decide it’s not for you or have other things going on in life I’m paying them over 3 grand for literally nothing the coarse is useless your paying to have their name on your cv that’s all save your time and money biggest regret of my life is signing that contract just don’t do it They also tried to take 130 out of my bank account twice in one day when I’m only menat to pay 30€ a week with no warning or head up or explanation whatsoever

It seems there is a misunderstanding regarding the payments for your course fees.When you enrolled last January, you selected an instalment plan of €31.65 per week. Our accounts team contacted you when your payments failed in May of this year to see how we could help. You requested we instead “take a month's worth” each month on the 10th day of the month, so the first of these instalments of €126.60 was requested on the 10th of June. This is the equivalent of 4 weekly instalments, slightly less than a full monthly equivalent as you requested.As you know, our team check-in with you weekly, and we were happy to see as recently as the end of May that you were pleased with your progress and happy with the training and support provided. It was therefore disappointing to receive this review, as we are always available to help and support you in any way we can to complete your training. For example, we are happy to support you with a reduced instalment plan to cover your remaining fees, or an extension to your training deadline, if helpful.We will do our best to contact you, so we can discuss your concerns further and do everything we can to help.
