GoogleIt was a very strange experience. I thankfully did not move into any of their properties, but was in the process of making a viewing following an ad which showed a picture of the Quay, not the property (perhaps my first red flag).
They sent me a video of the property via WhatsApp and I asked if there was an oven. Their representative then proceeded to say "I think there's a microwave oven". Why don't they know what's in the property? (Another red flag).
I asked for a viewing before I proceed with any payments and the representative said "it'll probably be gone by then" as if to push me to put down a payment on a property I haven't properly seen. (The final straw)
I thankfully looked at the reviews before I proceeded. Beware to anyone who is looking to get a property with them. Their business practices do not seem legit and I am not surprised at all by the mass of poor reviews.

GoogleWorst agency I’ve ever dealt with. Took over 6 weeks to return my deposit. I had to argue every step of the way and file a case with the tendency deposit scheme.
I overpaid rent once and they took a month to return the over payment, took me threatening a small claims lawsuit. When it was returned, it was missing a portion. Had to again threaten small claims court before I received the remainder.
They will lie and bully you. I cannot explain how terrible they made me feel the last 6 months I lived there. I don’t know how they live with themselves.
Avoid at all costs.

GoogleVery poor experience with this agency.
Me and my girlfriend tried to contact with them via phone number from the morning to evening but no one pick up the phone. They only communicate with us via Whatsapp with very unprofessional messages.
We want to see the property before pay more than £5000 but Rashid (agent) refused. Even though we already proved that our total income meets the requirement, she still wants to take full amount of rent WITHOUT LETTING US TO SEE THE PROPERTY???
Luckily that I saw these reviews on Google before actually working with this agency. Now I understand why so many low rates from people.

GoogleOnly went for a viewing with them and the staff member was really unprofessional. Tenant was in bed at time of viewing and didn’t know we were coming, really awkward. Were then told about all these added on fees at the end of the viewing. Even if I liked the flat I wouldn’t let with them.

GoogleA very good experience, I found my rental place through them, had a short window of time to find and move into a place, they were quick to set everything up for me. Correspondence with Joe was very easy, via email or phone. I am very satisfied with the apartment. Great follow up service

GoogleI recently sold my house through Martin & Co, and it could not have been any easier. Viewings were managed with minimal disruption, and when negotiations began, communication was frequent and succinct. I would highly recommend them should you be thinking of selling your property, and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

GoogleJoe Savage was a real pleasure to deal with. Polite and willing to go the extra mile for you, he's a true asset to Martin & Co. It's very refreshing to deal with someone in property lettings that actually seems to care. If I need anything else, I know who I'll be contacting in the future!

GoogleDO NOT USE, AVERAGE RATING IS LOW FOR A REASON - absolutely shocking customer service. Seems like they never work. Never respond to calls or emails. When my flat mate initially moved in, they took weeeks to complete our reference docs and seemed like they had no idea what they were doing and only completed these a couple days before our move in date. When we moved in, the blinds in all rooms were broken. We had to pester them constantly and only when we threatened to contact the landlord directly, they did something about it. This took 3 months.

GoogleI do not recommend this letting agency ,I had such a horrible experience, I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. No one should be treated with such disrespect. I went to drop off my keys in the office and it felt like i was in the 1950’s with all the racism I encountered , the guy was shouting and refused to let me inside the building to drop off my keys, he even refused to let me speak and kept shouting over me saying “get out get out” I just wanted so guidance as I was advised by email to go to the office to drop off my keys , This experience made me extremely uncomfortable I was in tears. This just reflects badly on the business as they employ anyone from the street. This was the worst company I’ve dealt with in my entire life, nothing I wanted was getting done, replies were slow when it came to fixing things but super fast with other matters related to them. It’s such a shame as the Appartment I was staying in was nice but definitely not worth the abuse.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleJoe Savage dealt with my property renewal. The quick and professional service provided by Joe has been much appreciated. In these times when everyone is very busy, it's an essential part of business. Thanks to Joe for the efforts made.

GoogleUnfortunately, Martin and co aren't very responsive to emails (or calls) when they say they will be in touch - currently on week 7 still trying to get my deposit back due to them charging me £195 in cleaning expenses for no reason when the property was cleaned and photographic evidence given prior to vacating (463sq ft 1 bed apartment). Was a nightmare getting into the apartment originally - messing you around with different move-in days and form after form. When you call staff members are rude and sharp on approach (that's if anyone picks up). Shame I have to write such review to remotely get a quicker response & come to some resolution (some cases has taken 2 weeks to hear back).. they are very efficient obtaining your deposit in the first place however.

GoogleWe have been renting with Martin & Co for 2 years and whenever we have had an issue they have been super quick to sort it.
My bed broke early on and within a few days I had a new bed frame.
Our building has recently suffered a moth infestation and again Martin & Co were quick to resolve the issue by organising for us to have hard wood floors instead of the wool carpet. This was sorted within weeks and on top of that the whole flat has also been freshly painted.
All in all a very good service!!!

GoogleWorst renting experience of my life! M&C thought they could just ignore the complaints we made against them...this is not legal, PLEASE GO TO THE PROPERTY OMBUDSMAN IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS.
Communication: The staff are really rude and sometimes just flat out incompetent, won't get back to you unless it's about money they think they're owed in which case they'll email end of day saying they need money in the next 5 mins. The staff are bullying and aggressive both on emails and in person if you want to make a complaint
Viewings: They do not adhere to the contract or law in giving 24 hours notice
Repairs: we couldn't get someone over to repair until part of our flat flooded. It damaged some of our own electrical items and M&C didn't want to hear about it
Cleaning: We got a professional clean end of tenancy and M&C claimed it was left in a mess and double charged us with their own cleaning agency
Making complaints: M&C thought they could just ignore the complaints we made against them...this is not legal, PLEASE GO TO THE PROPERTY OMBUDSMAN IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS. I know several people where the ombudsman has ruled in their favour over M&C's appalling business practices and treatment. I personally was awarded hundreds of pounds because the agency broke so many rules and behaved so appallingly. Even during this formal process, they drew it out as long as possible.
Martin and Co harassed me and my flatmate whilst we were in the tenancy and were horrible and stressful to deal with - please please just stay away. If you can't, read through the other reviews and know your rights first. Most of the 5 star ones are quite clearly fake, new accounts with only a single review...

GoogleRented with them for a couple of years. In Spectrum.
We were in love with the flat.
Since moving in the flat wasn't necessarily in it's greatest shape but we were excited so we didn't make much of a fuss at the beginning. I regretted later.
Everything we needed fixed had to be chased by us multiple times. Had a broken bed frame for nearly all my tenancy. They don't follow up any works they do. You can get your shower finally checked on monday and they will send another contractor on Wednesday for the same job, or never send anyone.
After almost 2 years my flatmate wanted to move out of the property to go live with her boyfriend a few months earlier than our contract finished, and the agency first agreed to it, but last minute refused to change names in our contract and their response was to tell us we needed to move out as the landlord had "different plans for the property" the funny part is that we've learned this not from any agent but from the guy who was planning to take over my flatmate's rest of the lease. How professional is that?
They didn't even bothered to call me directly to tell me I couldn't renew my tenancy they just told the guy who wanted to take the room to let us know. (THIS WAS IN MAY MIDDLE OF LOCKDOWN 1... I had all the anxiety of having to search for a new flat within less than 3 months and all of it took me by surprise.)
I had to chase them when I needed my references (to rent another flat) for more than 4 WEEKS. This is emailing and calling them almost everyday.
When I finally had all sorted to move out they rang me to ask me to RECORD A VIDEO OF THE PROPERTY FOR THEM TO PUT IT IN THE MARKET. (I thought the landlord wasn't gonna rent it???)
I was shocked. I basically got told I had to leave the property (when in plenty of occasions I communicated I wanted to renew... and it was all a lie... The flat was becoming available)
A few days before my lease was ending they rang me to offer a renewal. (Too late; I had everything packed and the new flat rented)
They made us pay for carpet shampooing when it was clearly not freshly washed when we moved in, since everything was like a nightmare we couldn't get away from we agreed to pay 50% of the carpet clean. It then took them nearly 2 months to send us our deposits back.
We never missed any payment and payed every month on time. We looked after the flat like it was our own. We didn't deserve that service from them.
The staff is rude specifically Jess.

GoogleWe had a nightmare with them from day 1. Trying to get in touch with them is impossible, even before COVID-19. We would ring the branch, ask for a member of staff, they'd refuse to transfer us and then not call back. Same with emails, you have to send multiple chase ups before you get a response. Unless they wanted money from you, then they'd email you at 5pm saying they needed the money before close of play that day! I have never, ever dealt with such an unprofessional estate agent. We asked for the managers email address weeks ago and still haven't received it. We sent an email 4 weeks ago, with pictures attached explaining some of the furniture was unusable and their response said 'I cant really see the problem'. If you can, avoid, avoid, avoid! It's not worth the stress, the tears and the arguments. I understand the current situation is difficult, they have told me about how they are currently WFH , but arnt most of us in the same boat?

GoogleWorst letting experience of my life. Poor communication: they do not provide any information useful for your stay. - Despite I took an appointment in advance to visit a flat, no one showed off. After one hour and three calls someone opened me the door. - The flat was okeysh, I take it, I receive a confirmation. Few days before getting in still no emails or information. I contact them and I discovered that I had to transfer money and sign contracts in a hurry. Of course.. too late, I had to spend one night in a Airbnb. - Forget support during your tenancy - At the end of your tenancy, no information at all about how to do the check out, such a surprise. If something is going wrong, it's your fault. They just make you sign stuff with your phone without even have the time to read it. Totally unprofessional, stay away from them.

GoogleWorst letting agent in Manchester
We were broken in to and their emergency line did not work. Called the office in the morning and no one picked up for over an hour and they advised they couldn't help with our smashed in door.
They gave the security deposit back to the wrong tenant and didn't even say sorry let alone help get it back so I'm not down by £600.00.
Never again will I waste my time and money with these idiots
