TrustpilotTheir prices are extortionate
Their prices are extortionate and incredibly expensive against the other competition and they cut me off without any warning and made no effort to contact me about arranging payment plans, and stuff like that. The lack of communication is terrible and now they're wanting to take me to court for a service I never received.

Thank you for the feedback.
We've checked this against our records, and given the specifics raised here, it's important to set out what happened rather than leave this unanswered.
The account was signed up in full, with direct debit details provided, and our team took the property onto supply on that basis.
This was a service that was set up by you and delivered by us - not one that went unreceived.
On communication, our records show 50 emails were sent in total to the email address you are leaving this review from. 27 of them were sent before any warning was issued, in addition to multiple attempted phone calls.
In these emails, the package being live and the property being on supply was explained.
We don't recognise the claim that no attempt was made to get in touch, and we're happy to share that communication log in full.
We also have no record of any service being cut off, or you communicating this to us.
If something did stop unexpectedly, please let us know about it specifically - but as it stands, that isn't reflected anywhere on our side.
We're always open to discussing pricing or a payment plan directly with a customer, including in cases heading toward formal action - that conversation needs to happen with our team by engaging with the emails sent.
Please contact us directly with your account reference so we can go through the timeline and resolve this properly.
Kindest regards,
Customer Support Team

TrustpilotDemanding bills paid and WiFi still outstanding threatening emails sent by housr . Once package agreed a bill for a week…
Once package agreed a bill for a week prior to the move in date was asked to be cleared or otherwise no service. They were not tenants at that time. Multiple calls and an email and another message received from housr demanding payment. Daughter and student friends very stressed. WiFi due to be delivered a week ago and on tracking is now still in Scotland. Message sent today confirming delivery address was correct but no WiFi delivered. Housr not answering the phone so cannot get anywhere. This is supposed to make life less stressful for students. At the moment the service received has not been fit for purpose

TrustpilotAgreed a package for gas
Agreed a package for gas, electric and broadband in a student flat. Gas and electric account was setup fine, but to date there have been three no shows when appointments have been arranged for a broadband engineer to attend. When I called after the first two missed appointments I was told that an engineer would attend a week and a half later between 1 and 6, but again no show with no communication as to why. The person I spoke to in customer services didn't seem to have much knowledge about why an engineer even had to attend.
With the new term underway there are now 3 students left without broadband for study.
Could've had this all setup and working months ago if we'd just arranged broadband directly with the ISP.
Response to emails is slow if there is any at all.
I would strongly advise you avoid this company, just want out now, but suspect they will claim full payment to cancel despite them not honouring their end of the deal.

TrustpilotHorrible experience.
Horrible experience.
Moving in has been made extremely stressful for no reason.
On the 4th of Septmeber We signed up for a date for our broadband to be installed on the 8th of September. We got an email saying we had been booked in and will be contacted on the 8th with our tracking. On the 8th we did not receive the email, and after being on hold for over 40 minutes, they said that they had changed our broadband and will have to wait a further two weeks for them to provide another date. Two weeks later, we are told we will have to wait until the 24th September to get connected. As university students, this is extremely inconvenient, as we have tight deadlines that we need to meet. Customer service has been extremely slow in responding to our calls and emails. I've had three different bill package companies during my time at uni and this is by far the worst. Go anywhere else. They take your money without providing the promised service. I've raised several formal complaints with the support team and have been ignored. Terrible company. Your money is better elsewhere.

TrustpilotSTUDENTS DO NOT USE
My son’s housemate entered into a contract without them realising after my son only requested a quote. My son had already set up their energy/water/wi-fi supplies at the beginning of their tenancy. The gas and electricity supplier was switched by Housr despite my son advising they did not wish to use Housr. As a result my son and his housemates were placed on an ‘unlimited’ package with Housr and with an energy provider they had not chosen. They were charged at a higher rate than their original supplier. When they attempted to switch back to the original provider, Hours objected, making it more difficult to resolve a situation they had not agreed to. When the boys cancelled the contract, Housr charged £90 and put them on a deemed contract with Huddle/Truenergy. Housr charged nearly £800 for eight weeks of gas and electricity and the house was then stuck with Truenery for a further month while sorting out the Housr bill. Communication was extremely poor, you were just left waiting on the phone, inconsistent information was provided including on the application T & C ‘s, one minute they wanted meter readings and then they said they weren’t relevant, and the sign-up and billing process lacked clarity. It was only after I stated I would seek legal advice that Housr agreed to refund £430 for unused energy, but then took weeks to refund. The company hugely overcharges students and whole experience was very unprofessional, stressful and lacked transparency. Students do not use this company.

Hi Sarah,
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been unhappy with the experience.
However, we’d like to address the suggestion that students are taken advantage of. A valid sign-up for this property did take place, completed via a signed utilities form confirming endorsement of services at the property.
Once concerns were raised, we carried out a full review of the account. As a gesture of goodwill, we recalculated the bill based on actual usage and issued a refund, and we also refunded the cancellation fee in full. Both refunds were processed in December.
We acknowledge there were delays in communication during the review and have taken this feedback on board.
The matter was fully reviewed and resolved fairly, and we’re sorry that you still feel dissatisfied.
Kindest regards,
Housr Customer Support

they entered my housemate into a contract without him being aware (never sent anyone any paperwork to sign) and then claimed it was a verbal contract. we called them to cancel our contract after being charged £2375 for one term?! and asked them to send us an itemised list of everything we are being charged for and they have dodged all of your calls and follow up emails since then. they told us our account had been frozen for three weeks to avoid taking us to court, but will not work with us to find a solution. do not use them. they take advantage of students

Hi Bella,
Unfortunately, we’re unable to locate any account matching the situation you’ve described based on the information provided here.
Without a name, address, or reference, we can’t review the charges, call history, or communications to verify these claims.
What we can clarify for anyone reading is that we never enter someone into a contract without agreement.
A contract is only set up following either a confirmed verbal agreement, a completed online sign-up or a signed document, all of which are followed by written confirmation and a cooling-off period. We also always provide full cost breakdowns on request.
If you believe there’s been a mistake, please contact us directly at support@housrapp.co.uk with your property address so we can investigate properly and work toward a resolution.
Kindest regards,

TrustpilotSetting up process
We had a previous package for bills with a different company, they randomly told us that they were dropping our bills (1 month before moving in). I found out about housr and within 1 hour of getting a quote on the website, I got a call from them to discuss setting up a package. The operator on the phone was greatly helpful, he even upgraded our package (Wi-Fi) from 400mbps to 1000mbps. Everything was explained with clarity and had no issues, hopefully no issues arise once moved into the property.

Trustpilotnever using housr again
We went with Housr to ensure our bills package was stable. It was marketed as student friendly and easy to manage. From the get go, the company was useless, uncommunicative, and ridiculously unorganised. Amongst other things, they sent us a court action warning DESPITE us having paid our first bill package; they were sending emails about late payments, again despite them having secured the dates for our payments; initially they had us registered to a property in a completely different city rather than the one we had explicitly mentioned during the sign up process; they declined our gas and electric meter readings and failed to tell us why; finally they neglected to inform us that the broadband providers Housr has partnered with don’t cover our living area. Upon having sorted it for us, they made this action seem like a FAVOUR to us, despite us having already paid for internet since July. We have now asked for compensation for this seeing as our bills package includes broadband. Overall this is unacceptable and laughably irresponsible. I don’t recommend this company at all. 1 star for the representatives communicating with us over email at least being empathetic to our frustrations (Julia you are amazing). I have never left a review before but I am incredulous as to how a company can be so negligent.

Absolutely disgusting company. Terrible customer service, they will try and charge you for everything (meter readings they don’t ask for until you’ve moved out for example) and threaten you with a CCJ if you don’t reply within a few days. I had to call and email them multiple times with this threat looming over me to get them to finally leave me alone. They also prey on uni students naivety.

DO NOT USE THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF NAÏVE STUDENTS AND SCROLL DOWN TO OTHER REVIEWS AND YOU WILL SEE THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. My daughter never agreed to enter a contract and only downloaded the app and in the very small print of T & Cs this enters them into a contract, on 2nd Sept she emailed to say please stop emails and cancel which was ignored and I have since sent several email with no response. HOUSR have now switched energy from current supplier to themselves and to get out of this they insist on cancellation fee and are charging an exorbitant amount for the UNLIMITED package WHICH THEY DO NOT WANT!!! Hi Neil,
We’re sorry to hear about your frustration, but we want to clarify that your daughter did complete a full sign-up on 11 July 2025 via our website. As part of this process, she was required to tick a checkbox confirming she was signing up to a full package and agreeing to the terms and conditions before continuing. This was different to receiving a quote, and was a request for us to begin the setup of services at the property.
A Welcome email with the package details and contract dates was sent immediately after sign-up, and more than 20 service-related emails were sent afterwards as her utilities were set up.
The first request to cancel came a long time after the 14-day cooling-off period, at which point the setup was already underway, which is why a cancellation fee applied.
We understand that student bills can be confusing, but we do not - and would never - take advantage of students.
We appreciate your feedback on our sign-up process, which we are working to improve for the 2026/27 academic year.
Kindest regards,
Customer Support Team

We never agreed to enter to a contract with this company. It is within our full legal right to inquire into a quote for our bills and yet, somehow we are now being billed £120 cancellation fee for a service we have never utilised. They keep saying that it is a student friendly service yet with the terms and conditions so small, this is completely unacceptable and a complete scam- to the point where it is bordering on misrepresentation and they should rethink their advertising. We have tried to contact them several times and have fallen on short ears and yet they keep sending us emails to pay for a service we have never accepted to be legally bound to.

Hi Susie,
We’re sorry to hear your frustration, but we’d like to clarify what has actually happened here.
On 27 May 2025 at 15:18, a full sign-up was completed through our website. As part of that process, you must click to confirm that you agree to our terms and conditions and that you are entering into a full package agreement.
Immediately afterwards, at 3:47 PM on the same day, a member of our team also sent you a message confirming that you had signed up. If you had let us know at this point that it was a mistake, you would have of course been able to cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period with no fees.
You chose not to respond to this message, showing no indication that this was a mistake or that you wished to cancel.
The first communication we received from you to cancel, came after the 14-day period had passed.
By that point, the package setup for your property was already underway, which is why a cancellation fee was applied in line with the agreement.
We understand cancellation fees are frustrating, but they only apply when after the cooling-off window.
Kindest regards,

TrustpilotFalse Contract
We never agreed to enter a contract with this company, having only sought a quote for our bills as we have done with other companies since it is our right to do so. After simply seeking a quote, we were told that we had entered a contract which were unwilling to enter and unknowing of since there was nothing to suggest the entering of a contract simply by seeking a quote. This is a legal issue and could possibly be deemed misrepresentation. Now we are being billed £120 to cancel this contract we were unwillingly entered into. We have made multiple attempts to contact the company and sought this issue out however we have received no help and have instead been told to pay this absurdly large sum of money.
Gabby · 24 September 2025

Hi Gabby,
We’re sorry to read this review.
We want to reassure you and anyone reading that we would never set up a contract for someone who had only requested a quote.
With only a first name provided, we’re unable to fully investigate your case. We have requested more information, which you unfortunately declined to provide.
Our process for setting up a contract is straightforward: is only activated once a customer has agreed to the terms, either verbally or via our website sign-up. At that point, full confirmation is sent by email, and a 14-day cooling-off period applies where cancellation is completely free.
Cancellation fees are only ever applied after this period.
If you believe something has gone wrong in your case, please reach out directly to support@housrapp.co.uk with your full details so we can review it properly and resolve things as quickly as possible.
Best,
Housr Support Team
