GoogleSimon Miller moved us in 20 years ago and we were so grateful that they were able to help us move out. Its was not the easiest of of sales but they helped and supported us throughout and were always available to answer questions or queries. I would definitely reccommed them.

I recently purchased a house in July 26; Simon Miller were the seller’s chosen estate agents. As a first-time buyer, I don’t have previous experiences to compare against, however Simon Miller were always very helpful and quick to answer any questions I raised throughout the purchase process. Jeremy was especially helpful. I would recommend Simon Miller.

GoogleWhile the house was eventually sold, the overall service I received was significantly below the professional standard I expected. I found myself having to manage the marketing of my own home. I had to specifically request that an advertisement board be placed outside, and I had to intervene regarding the online listing because the primary photo was poor and failing to attract buyers. It should not be the client's job to ensure the marketing materials are effective. Furthermore, I felt there was a complete lack of proactive support. I received almost no communication or calls to see how I was doing or to provide updates. Incredibly, the estate agent for the property I was buying, whom I am not paying, was more helpful, communicative, and supportive than your team. Regarding the sale price, the only advice I received was to continuously "drop the price" to secure a quick sale, with no effort made to protect my profit or negotiate a better outcome for me as the seller. Finally, I must address the conduct of one of the female staff members in your office. On multiple occasions, she was incredibly rude and dismissive. Her tone of voice made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and I never felt treated like a valued customer. Based on this experience, I would find it very difficult to recommend your services to others.

What is nice, is, not one individual stood out as all members of the team support each other. Good solid Estate agent that places you first!!

I applied for a studio through Simon and Miller Company and paid a £186 holding deposit, only a day after applying, I discovered my guarantor could no longer proceed due to declining health and work commitments. The vetting process was extensive and, given his circumstances, it was not feasible for him to continue. I made genuine efforts to find alternatives, including exploring guarantor insurance, but could not secure another guarantor. I informed the agency promptly, apologised for any inconvenience, and thanked both the landlord for being generous and the agent for their support. I had also travelled to view the studio and accepted it in good faith, I acted honestly and responsibly throughout. Despite this, the agency, including CEO Gavin Curd, retained my holding deposit, stating they acted in “good faith.” While polite, their decision showed a lack of sympathy for a genuinely unforeseen situation. Another agency told me they would typically return a deposit in similar circumstances to avoid dispute and expressed concern for my guarantor’s health and employment issues. Meanwhile, both my guarantor and I were pestered daily by automated emails from Goodlord, and I have screenshots documenting these emails. Two utility companies also contacted me unnecessarily, and the studio was re-advertised at a reduced price while my details were still retained. My request to have my personal data deleted was initially refused, claiming I was an “active tenant until 2027,” only being resolved after my guarantor challenged it. Overall, while communication was polite, this company is not good-hearted in practice. They could have acted with understanding and sympathy by returning the deposit given the circumstances. Instead, the handling of both the holding deposit and personal data was rigid and inflexible. Prospective tenants should carefully review holding deposit terms and data handling practices before proceeding.

As previously explained, the holding deposit was taken in accordance with the terms agreed at the point of application and in line with the provisions of the Tenant Fees Act 2019. A holding deposit may be retained where an applicant withdraws from the process, which is what occurred in this instance. While we were sorry to hear of the change in your guarantor’s circumstances, the reason for the withdrawal does not alter the legal position under the agreed terms. With regard to your comments about other agents, we cannot comment on what another business may or may not choose to do in their own circumstances; however, our responsibility is to follow the legislation and the clearly stated terms that were accepted when the holding deposit was paid. Your application was handled courteously and in good faith throughout, and we are satisfied that the process followed by our team was fair, compliant and appropriate.

GoogleWe instructed Simon Miller to sell our house as we were relocating to another part of the country. Kelly led the sale and found a buyer within a matter of weeks. We were updated as and when there was news and things went smoothly for most of the process. Unfortunately the solicitor at the bottom of the chain was very slow and this caused some frustration as the rest of the chain were ready to exchange, leading to a delay of roughly a month. Both Kelly and Wasim did their best to keep the lines of communication open and as soon as things started to move again, they updated us on the progress of the sale. It was a happy day when Kelly called to say that we had completed!

Going above and beyond to help us along the way liaising with the seller, solicitors and our estate agent to get the process moving. We really wished we had marketed our own house through them also. GoogleWasim and his team were fantastic from start to finish. We had a tricky chain, a seller located abroad, and lots of delays with various solicitors. Wasim was very responsive with communication, liaising constantly with all levels of the chain and the respective solicitors to work towards exchange and completion.
