TrustpilotAvoid at all costs!!!!
These are by far the worst estate agents to rent from. They were always slow to respond to repair and maintenance issues, it took the landlady to call and apologise on behalf of Bridgfords before anything could be fixed. However when it comes to money, they make all sorts of silly excuse to keep your deposit and inflate costs to justify reaping off tenants. The staff are incredibly complacent and rude. Dealt with the lettings manager at their Northwich office and a Rebekah in their head office, never dealt with such unhelpful and rude individuals, it's a wonder what sort of customer service training they receive, if any at all. AVOID!!!!!

TrustpilotAvoid!
Durham branch, DH1 3AAThe Durham branch of Bridgfords seem to be operating on a very cheap basis for landlords, as they have a large portfolio of properties on the market for rent and sale. However, as we found out (as tenants), they do try to charge you money everywhere (references, visits, etc) and do try to take from the deposit what they can. I also think they cheated our landlord out of some money.Communication is very poor once you've signed a contract. This is all Bridgfords agents care about; once that is done, expect very slow or no email responses at all; you'll be calling either the estate agents or their Property Management Centre for the region (for maintenance/repairs in Gateshead) constantly to chase up things. One repair in our flat took 6 months (!) to be finally completed. Typical waiting times were admittedly more around 3-4 weeks, but who wants to wait this long for a repair of a door, window or blind? Some faults in our flat were never repaired and repeatedly ignored until I gave up.When calling the branch in Durham itself, I found it amusing that the standard response of the person on the phone was "I don't really know anything about this/how this works - I'm new here". Staff turnover is very high - all the letting agents we dealt with in the beginning were gone or in other positions by the time we left. I also found they didn't really know what they were doing, here are some examples:- They gave us a form to set up a standing order, for us to complete, which I did. As I found out just in time from the bank (to avoid the hefty fee of a late rent payment), such forms are not accepted by UK banks. Not that the agent had actually tried to submit the form! When I called her I received a snotty response that it's my fault if the rent isn't paid on time. - We started looking to buy in the area later in the year. The agents who work on sales have no access to the computer system of the agents who work on tenancies - rather odd. - They will continue to call you about properties and send you emails even after you've told them several times that you no longer need the service/updates. Ironically, at one stage they advertised the flat that we were moving out of to us.- They were adamant that they needed to carry out "inspection visits" every couple of months, as a service to the landlord. If you are not there they will charge you a hefty fine. On the second time this came along, I had to reschedule. After asking them to call me back, they completely forgot (I kept the emails to prove I had to told them to reschedule). For something that they told me it was so important they seemed to not take it too seriously after all.- Once the property management centre called me about the "water coming through the ceiling" that I had reported a while ago. It turned out this wasn't me, but another tenant from a completely different flat. My recommendation is to avoid Bridgfords. Finally, take pictures immediately of every paper you sign! Don't wait for a copy to be sent to you.

TrustpilotUnacceptable level of service and no accountability or responsibility
Bridgfords in Durham City managed one of my properties in Durham for nearly 2 years.
After our last tenant moved out we requested the keys back so family could make use of the flat.
Bridgfords posted the keys via regular mail and they went missing.
The items weren't tracked and Bridgfords did not have a proof of posting. They refused to accept any responsibility despite having not returned my keys to me or used an acceptable postal method in their attempt to return my property.
They actually blamed me for not requesting that the keys be sent recorded. Should I have requested the type of envelope and that a stamp be placed on also?????
They were paid for nearly two years to look after the flat, including my keys for me and did an average job throughout before falling at the last hurdle and failing to return my keys to me.
I am truly gobsmacked and will not be using Bridgfords again. The cost of the locksmith and my time will be recovered through the money claim online service but Bridgford's reputation in my eyes cannot.

TrustpilotTerrible agency
Terrible agency. Moved into the property in November and waited months for repairs to be done. Some repairs are still not done now. Everybody that works at Bridgfords takes ages to reply or just ignores your email. Spoke to a manager on the phone who was extremely rude and did not have the time of day to speak to me. Overall, the Hacienda branch have been very disappointing and have made my move not enjoyable.

A deplorable and unscrupulous business. Tenants have to chase and chase for their bond monies to be repaid and during the chase, Bridgfords lie,lie and lie.

TrustpilotDon’t waste your time
Their agent failed to turn up to a property viewing. We called the agent and the office several times and no one picked up so we went to their office and booked another appointment for later that day. They then failed to turn up to the second appointment and when we went to the office again, showed no remorse and did not apologise. Will never ever book with them again. They’re rude and unprofessional.

Dealt with a guy called zahid should have known really never to go ahead, once they had the sale wasn’t interested, pushed into putting the house on the market telling me I’ve spent a lot of time at your house! Very proffesional, was asked to reduce price after 2 weeks, long story with the rest of it but I would stay clear, hence I took my house off the market with them,

TrustpilotAccepted property and then they rang to say they’ve accepted someone else!!
I was accepted a property by them and I sent all paperwork over and two weeks later they phoned saying I was accepted as a higher bidder was accepted. Why accept me and my offer to disappoint two weeks later. Do not use this estate agent very bad service and not happy at all. They are useless I will be using somewhere else.

TrustpilotWorst letting agent ever Wakefield branch
One of the worst estate agents to deal with when we rented a property. The Wakefield branch staff were awful to deal with and made us feel like liars. We are currently going through a complaints procedure with them and they are withholding our deposit due to the fact that they are incompetent and got paperwork incorrect. I hope the landlord has learned a valuable lesson using them!!

TrustpilotAvoid at all costs!
Avoid at all costs. Untrustworthy, deceitful, unprofessional members of staff at the Hazel Grove Bridgfords Store lead to upsetting experience for myself and my partner whereby a member of staff dealing with the sale of our property beat us to the purchase of another property after building rapport with us and saying how lovely the estate was we were moving to. Conflict of interest at its finest. AVOID!!

TrustpilotRude
Rude, unhelpful and abrupt. They don't care about the tenant. All they care about is keeping the landlords happy and not losing the landlords custom. They could give no s#*ts about the people actually paying money. Stay away because they are not helpful. I got upset about a job that needed doing and was told that "you took the house as it is, there's nothing we can do". Just Wow

Not the best experience over a two year period. During our stay in their letting they were the most inconsiderate bunch. If there was a problem it was your fault. The landlord was always right. At the end of the tenancy their deposit holding arm Countrywide did their very best to withhold some of it, even though the property was in a better state when we left it.

TrustpilotTerrible customer service, will happily take your deposit but never give it back
Terrible customer service. Been waiting over a month for my deposit back after getting the checking out report (which came back fine) keep getting told it’s the landlords fault. Will be seeking legal advice and charging them the deposit, legal fees and their standard late payment fees as detailed on there account if I was to have paid my rent late (which I never did)
