TrustpilotI was extremely impressed by Daniel…
I was extremely impressed by Daniel Gentle working at Bridgfords Rental-Letting Department Wilmslow, with his professional approach to marketing my rental property.I was contacted by Daniel on the first day back from the Coronavirus lockdown. He had gone through all the rental equerries & suitably matched prospective tenants for my property. He went to my property to take further pictures as he felt he could improve on the ones I had supplied due to lockdown, & agree his were far better. He was very conscious of the Government Coronavirus guide lines & came well prepared with his own PPE to take viewings & he rented my property in the first week back at work. He worked long days & was also contactable in the evenings. I'm please to say he found me a suitable tenant in the first week of his return to work. Organised the credit references, checkin report & welcomed my new tenant at the property.Margaret Stretford

TrustpilotPondscum.
Literally the worst experience you could dream of. I had no working fridge for 3 months, no working washing machine for 2 months, no hot water for 2 weeks, no heating for a month. They were doing a 'managed property', meaning the landlord didn't deal with the little aspects, but they had to get him to approve money. Therefore I had no details for the landlord, and they just said 'landlord says no' to any requests. End of the tenancy? Refused to release the deposit, eventually responded with £250 in deductions for cleaning, despite their inventory saying 'cleaned to good domestic standard'. It's going to court now. Find another letting agent, your wellbeing isn't worth this.

TrustpilotDo not honour appointments to value property
Didn’t respond to email for valuation so had to arrange via phone. Booked in appointment and they sent 3 text reminders of valuation visit ( varying times ) Sat waiting and chased when no show, messed up at their end. Blamed on staff shortages . If they can’t value your house I wouldn’t have any faith in them selling it !

TrustpilotUnprofessional behaviour
I just had an experience of very unprofessional behaviour from this agency in York. We had arranged a viewing, for which I had to take some hours off from work. I also had requested a couple of friends to come with me for the viewing. When we reached to the place and exactly 4 minutes before the appointment, the agent called saying that it is cancelled since he has forgotten to take the keys from the owner!!!

TrustpilotDreadful and unprofessional at Bridgfords
I’ve had nothing but trouble with Bridgfords Darlington and their property management centre. As a landlord and paying for a fully managed service, I don’t expect to have to tell my agent every single month that the rent is late and get them to chase it! They failed with each tenant to set up a standing order. Had 2 really bad tenants and don’t believe they conducted the references correctly as the tenants history speaks for itself. They must have known they had a history of non payment and damaged properties.....After raising concerns about a recent tenant I was told I was wrong, they wouldn’t investigate and to give them a chance. The outcome was £1000 in damage for which I was only awarded £305 by zero deposit. After I complained early doors I was given a discount on fees and a named contact in branch but this didn’t help. Emails sent were often badly worded, spelt incorrectly and not professional. After ceasing my contract with them and waiting for my zero deposit claim they held onto my claim payment for 4 weeks. No emails from them or calls to say why. I called weekly but got no answers apart from “we can’t find the payment” and no apologies. Sent a formal complaint to the accounts department about holding onto my money and the response was simply “ the payment has been released and will be with you in 3 working days”. That’s the official response to a complaint. These people are literally unbelievable. Bad tenants, avoidable damage ignored and dreadful customer service through their “fully managed” service. Please do not use this company. You’ll regret it I promise.

TrustpilotA FRIEND TELLS US THAT WREN ARE GREAT
A FRIEND TELLS US THAT WREN ARE GREAT - SO MAYBE GO TO THEM! With the exception of one very nice individual, our experience with one of the Manchester branches is that tenants are treated only just within the bare legal minimum, if that. Every fault requires that the tenant chases a contractor. Several months taken to replace a faulty fridge freezer, which arrives just after we give up and buy our own. No supply of a garage key through the whole tenancy. Repeated rudeness by one staff member. It's been expensive (we've had to buy appliances and had a bike stolen) and exasperating. We rent out our flats and we have all faults fixed immediately. Don't expect that of Bridgefords. They'll defer to the landlord/landlady and say it's nothing to do with them. I mentioned this to my own letting agents in Bolton and they were appalled. Maybe other Bridgefords branches are better. Maybe Bridgefords are legally correct to say that it is not their fault (I don't know), but their attitude has been terrible.

TrustpilotAltrincham office is NOT competent
I have a property that I let in Altrincham and I have so far had a horrid time with Bridgefords. At first they got me a tenant who did not qualify for the property, now they have withheld the rent, they said they will forward it in a couple of days and two weeks later, I have not received it. Their phones are on voicemail too!

TrustpilotThere own staff took my property off…
There own staff took my property off the market. Because someone wanted to view it but did not have enough funds to purchase. They then since said I called There member of staff vulgar words which I never did and it was me who asked to remove my property. DO NOT use these to sell your property at your peril if you have any sense. One word.... shocking.

Unfortunately I had to give a one star just to write this shame they don't have a minus star, this company with out dought ie(durham branch) is the worst and set of people that me and my partner have had to to deal with, after renting a property for over 4 years through this agent it has been nothing but poor communication and lies, after leaving this property and moving forward to another property, my partner by genuine mistake when handing keys back also handed in our new garage door key, when we informed staff the durham branch(Sophie) refused to give them back after 3 weeks of asking this person now claims they have never had them, nothing but lies from this person, now we are having our calls ignored, his person attitude is nothing short of absolutely disgusting, I work with thousands of customers, if I spoke or treat or even remotely spoke to anyone of them slightly in this manner I would be finished on the spot, this person(Sophie ) is now holding our bond to which the landlord has personally thanked us for leaving the property immaculate, anyone wishing to use this company I would strongly advise do not they are nothing but unprofessional, ignorant, rude, totally disrespectful to peoples needs, and absolute bare faced liers

TrustpilotBe very careful with them
Be very careful with them, they are professional stealers! Keep a thorough written record of every time you contact them or viceversa, every contract, email or even phone records. I will tell you my story briefly. Rented an apartment in machetes City Centre, had to pay £950 deposit. Was supposed to move out 1st November, called them 3 times in October to tell them, first 2 times they said they would send me a form to sign and send, that didn’t happen, called them a third time and they said they were busy and would call me back later that day, didn’t happen either. 1st of November I pop by to drop the keys and denied all attempts to reach them from my side. 3 weeks later I call them to claim the deposit, they said according to their system I was still in the apartment and denied me passing by the 1st and handing over the keys. Still don’t want to return the deposit. Had to open a cause in court now. ASK WRITTEN PROOF OF EVERYTHING YOU DO!

TrustpilotContinually failed to meet the mark
We were first time buyers and so didn't have a choice whether to go with Bridgfords - we certainly won't be when the decision is in our hands. The property we have bought is wonderful and our initial estate agent, Helen, was excellent to work with. However, when we were transferred over to the Leeds City branch, Matt - who openly boasted that he was better than our previous estate agent(!) - took a month to reply to some emails and openly misled us in face-to-face conversations (only to go on annual leave the following week and avoid accountability). Despite my email of complaint, Matt never replied and has not spoken a word to us since. Joe, to his credit, was excellent to work with in lieu and helped us at our most frustrated. Unfortunately, since moving in, those frustrations have continued as after multiple emails and many empty promises the 'Sold' sign is still yet to be removed from the property - despite moving in nearly 8 weeks ago. I had misgivings dealing with Bridgfords again after renting with them 5 years previously, these initial low expectations are the only they actually met.

TrustpilotBridgfords Stockton Heath Branch
I had the misfortune of renting a property through bridgfords Stockton branch in Warrington for approximately 2 years. During this time their continuing incompetence made the experience stressful and unpleasant. Simple requests, such as fixing a faulty boiler, were somehow turned into harrowing and arduous tasks with phone calls back and forth leaving us without a boiler for days. Then came the renewal of our tenancy, where for just shy of £300 bridgfords painstakingly changed the date on our initial contract, to reflect that one year had passed since we began renting. When I queried this nobody seemed to be able to explain these absurd charges. Finally when we came to leave the property, we were kept waiting for several months for our deposit despite leaving the property in an immaculate condition. We called every week and were repeatedly promised somebody would be back in touch and it wasnt until we threatened legal action that our phone calls began to be returned. All in all if you are considering renting with bridgfords, my advice would be to find yourself a bin on a quite side street, clear it out, climb on in and set it on fire as it will likely be a more pleasant experience all around.

TrustpilotThe worst experience I've ever had as a tenant
I was a tenant in the North West. They were ridiculously thorough with my background checks, even though I have a perfect tenancy history. But they made it very difficult and the whole process dragged on for many weeks. But I was eventually able to move in. The experience was enjoyable at first and I liked the flat. Then the agency let a bunch of 18 year olds move in on the bottom floor. The woman, M., felt sorry for them and even gave them a fiver towards their electricity fees. I took one look at them and realised they were going to be a nightmare, so planned to move out as soon as my six-month tenancy was up. It was so obvious they were going to be trouble, how vacuous of the agency to let these unproven tenants move in with no past history in renting. Especially considering the ridiculous rigmarole I had to go through to clear their various renting history checks. Sure enough, my new neighbours were a nightmare. Ultimately, they trashed their flat and abandoned the property. Robbing my flat in the process, so I had to get the police involved. To make matters worse, despite constantly asking the branch to fix the front door to the entire property, they didn’t. All you had to do was push on the front door lightly and it opened. So the youths had a perfect excuse to rob everyone. Which they duly did. It quickly got frightening. Once the youths moved in, on several occasions around 1 am some of their rivals (the youths were obviously going out and creating acrimonious issues) battered the front door down to the house. At one point their flat was ransacked by a rival gang. They literally tore through the flat as I watched helplessly from upstairs, a gang of 10 or so trashing the place. I was wondering if I was next. Shortly after the youths downstairs started begging me for money, stole from my other neighbour, and turned the back garden into a tip that led to a complaint from those in the area to the council about the mess the youths were generating. Once my flat was robbed (and it was obvious the youths had done it), Brigdfords clearly didn’t care. I came home one night and the door was axed in at the lock and had been rammed open. The replacement Bridgfords provided for a door handle was a block of wood drilled in over the top of the gaping hole where the lock had been. They took that approach very obviously to save costs on a new door. So I had to heave at that just to get my door open. I brought this up with M. and she got cross that I did, suggesting the issue was already solved. One of the repairmen rounded on M. over the state of the front door to the whole property and they FINALLY fixed a solid lock to it.Eventually the youths abandoned their flat and occasionally reappeared, either pretending to rob it again or to tear down any repairs put in place. All of this because M. felt "sorry" for one of them, they put everyone else through that nightmare. At one point I went into the youths’ abandoned flat as the door was hanging wide open. I looked in and the place was destroyed. I've never seen anything like that. I commented on the state of the place to M. over the phone and she angrily rounded on me that it was private property.Do you think, just maybe Bridgfords, that you should have exercised some caution over letting a bunch of 18 year olds into a flat with no previous rental history? By that point, dealing with that incompetent woman was enough and I delightedly got out of my contract. I never received an apology for any of these issues. Nothing. Frankly, I should have taken them to court. As I would have won. But I just wanted to move on with my life. Overall, an appalling experience and I've avoided the estate agent ever since.

TrustpilotBridgefords Buxton
Whilst the photos, webpage etc were excellent I was annoyed to find Bridgefords took my property off the market as soon as an offer was accepted. The whole procedure then took 4 months due to problems in the chain. During this time there was no guarantee the property would be sold but potential viewers were turned away until I found out and insisted it be out back on the website. At no point would Bridgefords acknowledge they had done anything wrong or apologise. They are happy to accept over £5000 as a fee but do not consider the seller is the customer. Our complaint is currently with the Ombudsman.

TrustpilotWant To Buy But Bridgfords Don't Want To Sell
In the last 2 months, I have dealt with 2 branches of Bridgfords (Manchester and Withington) wanting to buy-to-invest. As a cash buyer, I have tried and failed numerous times to get a viewing on properties that were of interest. Excuses such as 'Oh So-and-So aren't at their desk but will call you back', 'we can't gain access' or 'we haven't got the keys' were abundant. All they want is to get your details on a e-mailing list and then send lists of properties you have no interest in. Warning to all vendors wanting to sell their property - don't use Bridgfords as they have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in helping you out as they do not engage with buyers.

TrustpilotDisappointing service
Disappointing service. They were great over the phone in setting up a viewing but when I arrived, the agent didn't know anything about the property at all and wasn’t able to answer any simple question - this may be a selling tactic used but I’ve never experienced this before. When I put an offer down in time for the very strict and quick deadline they gave, I didn’t even hear back. The only contact I received was from their mortgage department trying to sell their mortgage advice service (which I’d previously said I didn’t need). I then explained that I’d never heard back about my offer and they said they’d have someone ring me, which they never did. I only found out when the house was updated as sold on right move. I really hope I don’t have to deal with them again in my property search, as reading their reviews suggest this is their usual type of service.

TrustpilotThey took a month to sort a viewing for…
They took a month to sort a viewing for a property I wanted to rent. Every time we were due to meet they had an excuse such as the tenant wouldn’t let them in the house, but left it until 15 mins before the appointment to let me know. The photos supplied weren’t what was on the description, said it had been decorated and carpeted recently.. The state of it was awful and shouldn’t have been put on the right move website in that state. When I said I was interested they said they don’t work on a first come first serve and would be in touch, I waited over a week for contact back, left voicemails and then I find out today that it’s been taken off rightmove and offered to someone else. The lack of communication is abysmal. I do not recommend anyone even bothering enquiring. Useless.
