Wasted days of mine and my partners time by listing a flat at a price that the landlord wasn’t willing to accept. Flat was listed for £1800 pcm and when we made an offer at the asking price, it was made very clear that the landlord only agreed to £1800 because of the promise of an 18 month contract. We then endured days worth of negotiations where they tried to squeeze every penny and every additional day out of us in the contract that they could - while emphasising how they’d done us a favour by accepting the asking price (we were their only offer and the flat had been listed for more than a month). When we asked for a break clause we were flatly told no. If the flat had been listed at a higher price we wouldn’t have viewed it in the first instance. Wasted everyone’s time, felt very slimey and ultimately left a very poor impression.
