TrustpilotMy experience with Garton Jones, Avoid at all costs.
I rented my first property through Garton Jones back in 2023. The flat I was living in was also listed for sale, and a buyer eventually came forward. The agent handling our case assured us the buyer had purchased the property purely as an investment and actually wanted to keep a tenant in place. Then, one evening, they left a 30-page document at my door informing me that I had to vacate within a set period, despite what we had been promised. I should mention I was 18 years old, living alone, and a full-time university student at the time. Having to juggle my studies while packing up an entire flat and scrambling to find new housing put me under enormous stress. Because of how badly they handled that situation, my family had to step in and insist they help me find another property. I rented my second property through them in February 2025. Despite charging an enormous fee for a "professional cleaning," the flat reeked, the carpets were stained, and the sofa was filthy. My mother and I ended up removing and washing the sofa covers and curtains ourselves, and cleaning the carpets ourselves. On top of that, the heating/ventilation system was broken when they handed over the flat, which is not even legal, since a rental property's ventilation system is required to be fully functional at handover. Despite reporting it more times than I can count, it was never fixed. The building maintenance staff were quick to respond and told us the issue was a pipe leak that Garton Jones was responsible for resolving, but Garton Jones never lifted a finger. The vent filters were handed over filthy, caked in dust and dirt, and every time I turned on the ventilation, it blew dust straight into the flat. For someone with allergies, it was genuinely miserable.When we moved out, they tried to charge me for damage that was clearly left by the previous tenant, damage they had documentation of, and which I explicitly pointed out to them. They deducted money from my deposit anyway, in a completely dishonest move. At that point I didn't push back further, purely because I wanted my money back without more hassle, but by then, three years of dealing with Garton Jones had shown me there was no problem they wouldn't cause me. When we left the second flat, we left it spotless, cleaner than we received it, we even wiped down the walls, and they still deducted money for a single strand of hair left in a drawer, for one loose coin, and for a water mark on a faucet.I've spoken to friends who rent through other agencies, and not one of them has ever had money deducted for something this petty, had previous tenants' damage pinned on them, or had their requests simply ignored the way Garton Jones ignored mine.

Garton Jones have looked after me and my flat since 2005. They have been excellent in all of that time in their dealings with me. Always straightforward open and transparent and very helpful. Always courteus and professional. Frankly I cannot thank Chris enough for all the amazing and hard work he had to do recently, and Charlotte Edney, professional, kind, diligent would go the extra mile always. You guys are the best. Will recommend them with no hesitation at all.

I interviewed for property management role and while rejection could upset some people, I didn’t even get that far. I was through a recruiter and after a really positive interview with Jess I was told the second interview was cancelled. While I get decision were made I felt a strong candidate so I contacted Maria (head of property management) a few days later and was told she couldn’t take my call but would call me back. This looked a perfect opportunity for me, a genuine vibe from the outset with really positive first interview which led to an invite for second round. I’ve interviewed only for companies I genuinely felt were a good next career move, but here regardless of what happened with the recruiter I feel I personally would have managed this better.

I have been working with Garton Jones to rent my flat for 15 years. First of all I like the vibes of the office. They are kind, easy, good willed and helpful. Have seen many property managers over the times and appreciated almost all. I currently work with Venice Wallace who is a prompt, hard working kind lady and Ramesh the very elaborate accountant. The marketing team works quite agressively to bring you a good offer and surely hit the target. Garton Jones as a company outstanding with its competitive prices also has progressed a lot in years in terms of firm contracting and service quality.

Be aware, stay away from letting an apartment 42, Altissima House with GJ. The Landlord is not an honest person, during my tenancy at this property he never fixed the issues we reported to be fixed before or after and among many others problems. Don’t fall for this trap. I'm not speaking for myself and I believe other tenants will relate to this issue and never got their deposits back. Unless someone takes the step of taking them to court! Someone needs to stop them!

Charlotte has been my property manager for the last 10 years. She is a proactive manager with great charm and enthusiasm. Always courteous, quick to respond and brings solutions to resolve a problem rather leaving it to the landlord to sort out. Charlotte is determined and tenacious. I have always been impressed with her ability to mediate between landlord and tenant on difficult issues, such as the return of the deposit, which, from the landlords point of view is tedious. I have no hesitation recommending GJ to any landlord.

Our initial experience with Garton Jones was not a great one as the previous property manager was not responsive and at some points would not respond at all.However, since then we have had Lisa Beverlly who has been nothing short of amazing. She has been extremely attentive since taking over from her predecessor and maintained excellent communication with myself for any issues which have arisen. On top of this she has been very prompt in following up and keeping us in the loop during discussions with the landlord. Lisa was the main reason as to why we have decided to stay with Garton Jones and I can not recommend her highly enough.
