GoogleI sold my house recently though Fine&Country. The choice of the agent was based on “unscientific” findings. And I struck the gold. From the very beginning the speed of the process was really impressive- after 4 days on the market- open day; a week afterwards- several offers, all over the asking price. I can only try to imagine the amount of work which Daniel and Sara (with the help of Andrew) have to do to achieved it. As for the legal part of the sale, often more complex and long, Alice was incredibly. Pushing things forward with solicitors, not allowing them to forget the case, keeping me informed every day. GoogleWe recently purchased a home through the Fine & Country (Chiswick) branch and were disappointed with the quality of the agency throughout the process. As some examples:
Bidding process: After initially agreeing a price on the property, it became apparent that the agent was assuming that we would use his start-up side business (Daniel Madden and Partners) to sell our existing home. This was a surprise condition that was added last minute and had never been discussed with or agreed to by us and to our surprise led to the bid falling through (due to “not having visibility of the full process if they were not selling our home” or in my sceptical opinion “due to not getting the double commission of a sale and purchase”). As we really liked the home (if not the agent) we eventually went back in with a new bid 3 months later on the same basis (i.e. we decide who sells our house, not them) which they agreed to, as they had not found any other buyer in that time.
EDIT: There were never any periods of non-responsiveness from us and their concerns over our 'ability to proceed' were clearly a misjudgement on their behalf given their following paragraph is then celebrating how quickly we were able to move from bid accepted to completion.
Conveyancing process: The process went smoothly and we went from bid accepted to completion within 3 months. However, you would not have known this judging by the excessive level of chasing by F&C who were contacting our conveyancers, ourselves and the agent selling our house almost every day for updates and tried to constantly bring forward the exchange date despite it having being agreed early on in the process. This led to us receiving complaints from our conveyancer and our estate agent (both of which were excellent throughout the process) at the level of pestering they were receiving. I’m not sure if this was driven by inexperience of F&C or their nervousness at the current fragility of the market, but either way it came across as quite unprofessional and unhelpful.
EDIT: For F&C to claim below that the speed was down to them is laughable (given timeline was set by us) and disrespectful to the several hard working parties in the transaction who did the actual work in getting it over the line.
Completion: On the day of completion, the seller had left behind a lot of furniture and bulky items that had not been agreed in the sale process, which led to time and cost to us of removing them before we could move in. We contacted the agency a few times on this, but got no useful assistance at all on this which was at least true to form on their performance throughout the process.
I would recommend avoiding dealing with them if possible.

In the interest of transparency, and given the huge amount of value the consumer places of genuine reviews of service, I have outlined some brief responses to the points you have made, but would be more than happy to discuss them directly with you, in more detail.
In relation to any involvement in selling your home, you will no doubt recall your expression of interest in the property you subsequently went on to purchase, and the time frames between communication from yourself. There were months between hearing from you, there were other sales involved in the process, as well as the sale of your home in Ealing. The difficulty in you becoming a proceedable buyer, partnered with the long periods between hearing from you, did not, in our opinion, fill us with confidence regarding your commitment to move forward. In the interest of our client, and in order to gain you a period of exclusivity to buy the property, whilst still not proceedable, it was discussed, and specifically put forward, that our assistance on your home in Ealing, through a partner business, would provide some much needed clarity. As you are aware, you chose to work with another agent, and our client agreed to such terms.
In relation to our process of managing the sale of our clients homes effectively, this is an area of our business we are particularly proud of. Alice has over 10 years worth of experience progressing sales, whilst we appreciate that not all parties will necessarily enjoy, or even appreciate, the tenacity with which we work to ensure all parties adhere to timeframes established earlier in the process, from experience, it is this method of work that achieves results. You mentioned the sale progressed smoothly in just 12 weeks, it was actually 9 weeks from under offer to exchange, the national average is closer to 19 weeks. Its our deal management that enables us to ensure we are well below the national average. Its also worth pointing out we work in the best interest of our client, the seller, we are of course here to support you through the process but given there was a chain involved, we needed to ensue everything was moving forward accordingly and update our client accordingly. The reason we had to chase multiple times, sometimes daily, was the fact that when we spoke to your agent, on multiple times, they said they were too busy to chase and as a result, they weren’t aware of what was going on or what had / hadn’t progressed.
In relation to the left behind furniture, we are sorry we could not be of more assistance, we had passed on your message to the seller but they were not available to remove the furniture on the day of completion

GoogleI first met Daniel when I needed to have my deceased sister’s house valued for probate, which he did for free. I did tell him that I would consider using Fine & Country to sell the house when the time was right. At no time did he ‘hassle me’ in an attempt to get me to sell but waited for me to contact him when I was ready.
I have to say that even though the house is in a prime location in Chiswick it needed a total overhaul and I was suprised that he felt the house would sell at the original valuation.
Daniel arranged an ‘open house’ and had something like 20 viewings over the weekend. On the Monday he had had a number of firm offers and by Wednesday, a sale price, slightly below the asking price, had been agreed with the eventual buyer.
Alice then took over and apart from having to fill out a few forms and answer a few emails, Alice made it such a painless process to complete the sale.
To say that I was happy with Fine & Country is putting it mildly. From start to finish everything was handled in such a professional manner. I was extremely pleased with the service they provided and I would happily use them again.
