Disappointing

We approached Dexters to rent out our property. Initially they were very helpful. When we were ready to move ahead I asked for a copy of the agreement we would have to sign with them. Despite chasing them up, we have had no communication from them since then. I don't know if they just couldn't be bothered with the admin but we have now taken our business elsewhere. Very disappointing.

I’ve had a horrible experience living…

Handover date was 8th November and it’s getting one month. I’ve had a horrible experience living at 55 Queens Gardens, Flat 3, for the past one and a half years. Whenever we faced issues and emailed Dexters, it took them at least a week to respond, and they only addressed what they wanted. On one occasion, despite clearly stating not to come for a check, they entered our house without permission, triggering the alarm, leading to police involvement. Now, they are withholding my deposit without valid reasons, claiming water marks in the laundry machine and dishwasher, as well as wall issues from painting( We have an email from them granting permission under the landlord, but they didn’t check and said we don’t have a permit, unprofessional)- Nothing broken and bad. We have check-in and check-out pictures that show no differences, and we’ve been waiting for a response to our emails for a week now and from the handover date it’s getting one month. This has pushed us to consult with a lawyer to understand our rights. Dealing with Dexters, a large company, and specifically with Paul, the current manager, has been frustrating, especially with the constant turnover of staff over the past one and a half years (14 people in total), making communication confusing.Totally unfair! I wonder if they expect the perfect condition, considering we lived there for one and a half years. I swear it’s almost in perfect condition; you can’t see any difference in references. Additionally, we’ve heard that the reason we need to terminate the contract is because of the landlord, and Dexters finalized the deal.

Have been with Dexters for over 16 years and found them excellent at getting high quality tenants and helpful at change-over times.Carl, in their property management department, has been great at persuing the necessary aspects of managing my property eg negotiations on deposits and organising maintenance, sourcing the right people for jobs. Chris and his property management team try to go above and beyond to fix any issues and help keep me sane when dealing with stressful upkeep issues when renting out property which is over 120 years old - so typical of much the London market. During 2023 I have bought a flat in central London in which Dexters acted as the Estate Agents for the seller and subsequently rented out this flat with Dexters as the letting agent. Throughout these processes I have interacted with various Dexters staff, including Lok Chan, Joseph Donaghy, Phoebe Wishart and most recently Bryan Crail. All have been polite, helpful, responsive and well-informed: everything that could be asked for.A special mention must be made of Bryan Crail who is responsible for managing the let of my flat. When a problem arose due to damage to the exterior of the building leading to water ingress he has been the primary contact to deal with it. During this difficult time he has been proactive in working towards fixing the problem, helpful and kept me well informed: an excellent response in a challenging situation.

Experience with dexters over the past 1.5 years

We have had a mix experience with dexters over the past 1.5 years. In the beginning of the contract, their support was very slow and it was difficult to get basic things done. For the past 9 months, our point of contact at dexters Bryan Norton Crail from property management has been a game changer for us, he is in constant touch with us about specific issues happening in the flat and trying to get things done as quick and efficient as possible. We appreciate the help and support that we are getting from Bryan and from Dexters now.
