Beware of Misleading Practices Regarding Holding Deposits I recently had a concerning experience with Dexters Putney, specifically regarding their handling of holding deposits. Despite not being informed upfront, they decided to withhold my holding deposit # 480.00 after my application for a property was unsuccessful. It's incredibly disappointing to see a company employ such misleading practices, especially when it comes to crucial financial matters like holding deposits. According to UK law, it is illegal for letting agents or landlords to retain holding deposits if the tenant fails referencing, unless this condition was explicitly communicated prior to payment. Unfortunately, Dexters failed to do so. I urge anyone considering renting through Dexters to exercise caution and thoroughly review all terms and conditions before making any payments. It's essential to be informed and aware of your rights as a tenant to avoid being taken advantage of by misleading practices like this. Overall, my experience with Dexters Lettings has been unsatisfactory, and I cannot recommend them to others due to their questionable handling of holding deposits and lack of transparency.

I bought my first ever home with the help of Dexters. Agencies in London can be such a nightmare but I’ve had a fantastic experience with this office start to finish. I wanted to say a special thank you to Andy who was my sales progression manager - sales in the UK take a ridiculous amount of time and effort and he has been very helpful and patient, being continuously in touch over 3 months and doing his best to drive the sale to a close, bringing multiple parties to work together fast. Another thank you is to Fergus who helped me secure the accepted offer in the early stages and has been kind to follow up about the deal even when it was no longer his job. He showed me numerous properties and took on board my feedback around what worked and what didn’t. Office was closed but was put on with a lady called Hope and she went out of her way to drive down to my flat and hand me the spare keys on her way home.
