We've just completed the sale of our house through Theydons and we couldn't have asked for a better estate agency. From our first meeting with James, we felt that we were not only dealing with an experienced professional, but also with a really nice person who was cheerful, straightforward and a pleasure to work with. We were very pleased with every aspect of the process - the initial advice, the photographs and marketing, the arrangements for viewings, the negotiation of the sale and the good-humoured support we received during the inevitable stressful moments. James and his colleagues were absolutely reliable throughout; they always did what they said they'd do and their communication was excellent. We can't praise them highly enough and wouldn't use any other agent. A great service.

We had been looking at

We had been looking at properties for almost a year by the time we viewed the first place with Theydons. You get to meet quite a variety of estate agents during that process - some who live up to the negative stereotypes, some who don't. Theydons were definitely in the latter camp. During the viewing they seemed very straightforward, and not at all pushy. They answered the questions they could answer, and said they'd get back to us on the ones they couldn't - rather than just telling us what we wanted to hear. We put in an offer which was accepted, and everything went smoothly from there. They were very helpful in communicating with the vendors, getting back to us promptly with answers to any further queries. As first time buyers the process can be stressful and confusing, so it was very reassuring to feel we were dealing with honest and switched on estate agents. We've been in our lovely new home for a couple of weeks now and just received an email from James to check everything was ok - which was a really nice touch. He's been able to get quick responses on a couple of post-move queries from the vendors, which just demonstrates that he's been able to do what an estate agent should be doing: keeping both buyer and seller happy! Would thoroughly recommend.

After being very disappointed

After being very disappointed with the service from another agency, we met with James Ball from Theydons in another attempt to sell our property. His enthusiasm , knowledge and positive attitude impressed us greatly. The photography of our property was far better than we had previously experienced and the description of it fully described it's assets in an interesting manner. The property sold in around two weeks and we are extermly grateful to James and Jack for their efforts in showing potential buyers around the property and dealing with all of our queries up to and including the day we moved from East London to Somerset to start the next chapter in our lives. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

At the beginning it seem to be good as service. What you wont know is that what they say in verbal communication it will be very different from what they will do and will twist you in their favor. I wont say to many details but all I am saying in here is that YOU SHOULD BE VERY VERY CAREFUL before signing any anything, and GET AS MANY MANY evidences upon every entry inside any property as a new tenant. I found that sometimes

I found that sometimes information about the current status of the transaction was not being relayed to me very quickly and on several occasions I had to physically go in to find out if any developments had taken place. However the way in which they presented my flat and the pictures they used was to a very high standard. I was happy with this. When ever dealing with them I found them to be polite and professional at all times.

Theydons in Leytonstone sold our house to us originally and just recently sold it on for us after 6 years. My main contact was Taryn on both occasions and she was brilliant! She was always calm and talked us through every stage of the process and generally did everything she could to made the whole thing a lot more bearable...even dealing with our vendors tricky agent on my behalf. I recently recommended them to a friend of mine who had viewed nearly 25 properties with various agents with no luck, and within a few weeks of working with Theydons she had had an offer accepted on a property, and has just completed. Theydons Leytonstone are the best! We were very sceptical about going through an agency especially as Theydon's fees are not cheap, but their professionalism and the way they actually listen to what you are looking for and come back to you with exactly that impressed us tremendously. We were first in contact with Lauren. The first property we saw was not quite what we wanted, but she listened to our feedback, worked her magic and the second property was absolutely spot on! When we didn't get it because we were to slow to put an offer, she came back to us with a property that was even better under a week later and we have since moved in our new home and are loving it! Once the flat found, we were dealing with Amy. She was very patient in answering all our questions and finding out the information we needed for us so to make our move easier. We can't thank them enough for everything they have done for us so far and knowing that the property we ended up in is managed by them has put our minds at rest. All the staff at Theydons were friendly and eager to help. They are Real professionals who make you feel like they are actually helping you find a home rather than just giving you the hard sell speech to get rid of you. Thank you very much indeed.

Agents are absolutely not

Agents are absolutely not worth their crazy prices. Have been a tennant with Theydons for several years and it has always been one disaster after another. On the day we moved in we arrived at the office at our previously agreed time of 9am only to be told we could not get our keys until 4pm. That's the kind of service £600 worth of agents fees buys you with these guys. On leaving the property we were sent several letters trying to dissuade us from appealing any deposit deductions. These letters told us we would be subject to fines if we did appeal (fines that were not in our contract) I feel they have attempted to bully us and have made us pay for the experience.

I was very happy with all the help I received up to the day completion. Everyone I spoke to was very helpful, understood that we needed to complete quickly and done everything in the power to help to complete. But when we were due to complete I rang up to explain that I would not be able to completely clear or clean the house and was very happy to pay for a contractor to come in and clear/clean the house. I was very surprised to receive a quite angry email and phone call from another member of staff at Theydons stating that the purchaser was not happy with how we left the house (even though I said I would pay to have the house put in to order). I don't know if this was a miscommunication at Theydons but I did not appreciate the email or phone call.

We found Theydons staff to be very supportive, helpful, professional and friendly. They always got back to us in a timely manner. Despite a property falling through earlier in the year with another estate agent, they worked tirelessly to ensure we got the next property we set our heart on. They listened to our situation and helped persuade the seller that we were the buyers who would exchange and complete in the quickest amount of time. During the period before exchange, they assisted in chasing solicitors for extra information and faciliated access to the property for contractors to come in and provide building quotes. They made the whole buying process as smooth as possible and we would highly recommend them to others.

For two years they completed

For two years they completed minimal maintenance work and was then only a cover job rather than fixing the actual problem. At the end of the tenancy had a rotten broken wall in the bathroom that was left unfixed for around a month. Would hound you with calls when they need to see or inspect the property but would be slow at responding to your questions or requests. Finally when the tenancy had ended anthony turned up 30mins late to the time sent on the letter, failed to apologise for his lateness, whilst we had all taken time off work to comply with their demands of all tenants to be present. He then continued for 40mins to watch a ridiculous dvd taken prior to the handover of the keys and inspect every area of the house. At one stage there was too many leaves compared to the video outside that at once, one of us had to sweep and completely clear the area. His attempt at sheer intimidation and chauvinistic attitude is not how to treat tenants who never had any issue with rent and had been told by the few only respectable members of staff at Theydons how accommodating and pleasant are relationship was. Until handover Theydons where like many estate agents who landlord is difficult to get hold off, merely a third party in the process, however it is clear from their choice of staff when money is involved that do not give any shit who you are but a pound sign to abuse. Do not give them the satisfaction of a new customer.

I used theydons once as I had

I used theydons once as I had found their details on rightmove. They seemed to be a fairly reputable company. Throughout my dealings with them it became clear they were hungry for their commission and would go to any lengths to guarantee their commission was in the bank. They aren't afraid to lie and take advantage of vulnerable people, and their lack of ethics and customer care is absolutely ludacris. All estate agents should have basic training as property transactions are the biggest expenses we will make and it is essential to have a duty of care to all parties involved. If I could turn back time I wuld never have contacted Theydons as they are unprofessional and it would have saved me enormous amounts of stress.

Last year i had 3 valuations

Last year i had 3 valuations done with 3 agents and had to choose one, as all agents want to be sole agents only otherwise you have to pay a higher agents fee, Not had much luck so i decided to ask Theydons again today , to be honest i felt they only want quick sales for there commission, and want ALL Victorian houses Modenised, just as i thought today i was informed to redurbish my house to suit buyers otherwise he can only sell at a low price? i told him whatever i do to my property any buyer will make changes to suit them, he said unless i have upstairs bathroom, new kitchen moden right through listen to the rest PLUS loft conversion, it wont sell, his final words were he remembers my place and its not a nice house? well i have a new roof new boiler all newly rewired and decor to my taste, so i would avoid Theydons..
