Worst experience iv ever had with an estate agent paid holding deposit for a house for them to keep changing what they needed for us to rent the property we did everything they asked then to be told another applicant had the property even though I had paid the holding deposit so they shouldn't of let another person apply until our application had been finished. Also.wouldnt give holding deposit back.

My Partner and I have recently rented a property through Whitegates in Leicester. We cannot honestly have asked for a better service. Professional and efficient staff! From the viewing that was arranged at a time suitable for both of us to attend, to the swift referencing and move in date. Trying to get the deposit back been 11 days and still not answering. No update from the property management Mitul Gaddi or how is he called .. really is not nice ! Worst agency smooth !! Rules surrounding returning a deposit If your landlord holds your deposit (so should be protected in the Insured scheme), the landlord should pay your deposit back within 10 days of your request for the deposit to be returned. A tenant cannot request the return of their deposit before the tenancy ends.

Having changed Agents a couple of times, we decided to give Whitegates (Leicester) a chance as a newer name on the market. They succeeded in selling our house within a few months whereas their more expensive high street competitors significantly failed over an 18 month period. I would strongly recommend anyone locally to consider Whitegates, their footprint locally is visibly increasing as with the 'SOLD' banner on their boards !

They were actually good which is a nice surprise, with a mature approach and seemingly no silly games. Well done for your perseverance and patience, we sold our house! Would suggest being slightly more influential during the negotiation process but I understand it is a sensitive process, but that's just a personal preference no reflection on the quality of service. Use them to sell your house!

Absolute sham of a company, well, one of many companies under different trading names with 2 common denominators, 1) They keep re-inventing themselves in the same offices with the same staff. 2) The are all ran by Mithul Gadhia. (Remember the name for the pic below...) NOW REINVENTED AGAIN AS SMOOTHS ESTATE AGENCY IN SILEBY & HALFORD STREET LEICESTER BEFORE YOU INVEST YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TRUST IN BODEN SAMUAL OR SMOOTH ESTATE AGENCY, take a moment to Google "Business Live Mithul Whitegates" - Yes he owned Whitegates too until recently.... But the most amazing fact is even with debts of over £850000, someone managed to park a very smart Range Rover outside his premises with a lovely private registration on it a couple of weeks ago...... What's the chances of that??!!!!!

Health warning do not use

If you are a tenant and want a hasslefree tenancy and the ability to have your deposit returned at the end of the tenancy do not use whitegates. If you are a landlord and want to have a hasslefree tenancy because you are paying a fee to a letting agents do not use whitegates. If you want your telephone calls returned and your emails responded to, if you do not want to be told stuff and nonsense lies and have to encounter and uncover scams do not use whitegates for example a departing tenant hands the keys to my property to Whitegates they email me tell me they have the keys I ask them to keep hold of them until I am able to go into Leicester to collect them. I telephone to say I will be in Leicester the following day for the keys I arrive to be told no one is available I go back an hour later to be told there is no one available I come home I call them after five calls I speak to someone and I’m told that the keys have been handed to a new letting agent. What absolute nonsense firstly Whitegates would not be able to hand my keys to another agent or indeed anyone else without my instructions and authority otherwise they are acting unlawfully secondly if that had been the case they would have (or ought to have) told me when I rang to say that I would be going to Leicester the following day. When I eventually spoke to the managing director/owner Who told that the keys had been destroyed. An absolute shambles you will get more sense and more satisfaction Talking to a tree. Avoid like the plague they will promise you the Earth and serve you the sewer.
