Would recommend. I used first 4 lettings to rent a student property in my second and third year. Both years the service was great. Any problems with the house were sorted quickly and efficiently, at the cost of the landlord and not us. Our deposit was returned to us fairly at the end of both years. The only problem we did have was the lack of emergency contact number. If something had happened over the weekend (or outside of 9-5), there was nobody to contact immediately. If this had happened, we would have had to contact a plumber/ gas engineer ourselves and hope that the landlord would cover the cost afterwards.

The agent was good with helping us find a place but ever since we did it was down hill. This estate agent discards you as a client once they have found you a landlord who you then go and do business with 1 to 1. This is problematic because we are now left in a dispute with my landlord for getting our deposit back and the agency ‘can’t do anything about it’. Avoid this agency if you can there are better alternatives that will look after your money and do things correctly.

Always very quick to use any opportunity to rip the tenant off, with exorbitant agency fees and administration fees (£70 pounds for accidentally leaving a freezer bag). Very quick to send rude emails and book house visits with less than 24 hours notice. Very slow to respond to any maintenance issues and took over a week to fix a leak in a property I rented from them. In summary, I had an awful experience renting with this company and it’s an absolute shame that many landlords use them in Leicester because I had no problems with my landlord personally but this company is abhorrent.

We have just finished a tenancy contract with First 4 Lettings. 1) They will, at every opportunity, charge you fees for absolutely everything. During the tenancy I have paid huge admin fees, referencing fees, fees to have them send emails, fees for pretty much everything that they do. 2) They indulge in a range of dubious business practices. If you are a current tenant, or a potential tenant, allow me to confirm that they have NO LEGAL RIGHT to demand you use professional cleaners for your home/oven/whatever else. As long as the property is returned in the same condition it is found in, they have to return your money. 3) Overall, the office appeared unprofessional. They were slow to respond or pick up phone calls, and often dismissive or non responsive to my concerns as a tenant. As a summary, I would encourage you to read these reviews - the vast majority of positive ratings throughout are from landlords and not tenants. I would not recommend using this firm, and would recommend using a more reputable agency. It's also worth noting, as I suspect they will respond to this, they respond all of their low-rated reviews with the same stock email saying "we can find no record of you as a tenant, please email us".

When we moved into our new home for the academic year, we encountered a few maintenance and general cleanliness problems. Within half a day of emailing First 4 Lettings, they had personnel at the house, starting to rectify these problems. A cleaner arrived the next day and by the end of the week all the maintenance issues had been corrected, including the installation of new locks and blinds. We cannot fault the speed and professionalism with which First 4 Lettings responded to our complaints and are extremely grateful to them for this. Every interaction that we have had with the team has left me with the upmost confidence that our tenancy with them will be easy and pleasant and that any future concerns will be addressed with the same high standard of customer service.

DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!

THE WORST AGENCY IN LEICESTER !!! Used them for two years and honestly the WORST service and rude staff you could imagine. In second year our fully tiled from floor to ceiling kitchen fell apart and all of the tiles fell off as they were not safely stuck to the walls. Although this could seriously hurt us, the agency and landlord were reluctant to change anything. They left us with half tiled walls for months even though a kitchen fitter experienced with tiled had told them it was not safe for us to be in their. Not to mention we were left without any hot water for 2 WEEK (which is ILLEGAL) during term time. We had to fill the bath with kettle water to wash. They still tried to take our security deposit off us as we hadn’t had the curtains dry cleaned or the oven professionally cleaned. In third year, the house was given to us in filthy condition with dead bugs everywhere and our back gate lock broken. Also no hot water in the kitchen. But apparently it had been professionally cleaned! We subsequently got burgled and the agency or landlord did absolutely NOTHING to secure the house. We were required to purchase our own burglar alarm and replace the locks on the back gate to feel safer. We also were not provided with a vacuum with the property and then the agency had the audacity to claim that we had not returned the property clean enough. DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC WHEN WE HAD PAID RENT FOR 3 MONTHS THAT WE WERE NOT EVEN LIVING THEIR!!! There are SO MANY BETTER AGENCIES in Leicester so DO NOT GO WITH FIRST 4 LETTINGS unless you like hidden costs and unhelpful staff!!! IF I COULD GIVE -5 STARS I WOULD!

Avoid! Especially students!!!

After renting from First4Lettings this past year, I can conclude it has been one of the worst experiences I will probably ever have with a landlord! Considering First4Lettings like to advertise themselves as a Student letting service, they seem to believe Students are lazy and unobservant, and unable to fight our corner meaning we can just be walked all over, which in our case wasn’t going to happen. Upon first gaining tenancy over the house we were very confused about whom to contact; First4Lettings told us we were no longer to go through them and contact the landlord directly, whilst this seemed fair at first, one of my fellow tenants tried to ring the number First4Lettings had given to us via email and the reception he received was terrible. He was shouted at and told not to contact this number again and that he did not oversee anything with the house and we should go through the other agent. When telling the agency this they gave us a corrected number who was supposedly the landlords son, however he had shown us round the houses as an agent last year, so we were very confused as to who we were dealing with. We carried on despite this as we were just glad to have someone to contact. Upon moving into the house it was not to a great standard, wasn’t very clean and the dishwasher was absolutely appalling. I will not go into detail but we had numerous problems with the landlord over the year where he was hard to get hold of, promised to turn up to the house to sort a problem and then never showed, and when we contacted First4Lettings they just told us to try again and that they couldn’t do anything. The deposit situation at the end of the tenancy was handled terribly with me having to request our deposit several times to no avail, promised time slots where the deposit would be returned and then it never showed. Eventually we got our money back but with ridiculous cuts over cleaning and marks on the walls, including things which were already damaged upon arrival. I would have disputed these as I took pictures however my MacBook unfortunately broke around this time and in all honesty I was sick of chasing the Landlord around when he seemed to have an answer for everything. If you want a stress free second year in a nice house I’d avoid these letting agents at all costs, I can’t really speak much for the company themselves as they never really had a bar of us however if they let Landlords and whoever else they were treat their customers like this they should still be very ashamed. Just glad to be leaving and going to a letting agent who treats us more like adults in a much nicer environment!
