I have been using Hunters of Yeadon for the last 9+ years to manage my little Victorian rental property in the area. I have been consistently pleased with their service. What stood out from the start with me (when choosing an agent) was the letting division at Hunters were way ahead of other agencies in terms of health and safety for the tenant. Having been trained in H&S myself, it resonated. Their standards were (and are) high and that's what I wanted and (of course) continue to want now. As an absent landlord, I feel reassured that my best interests and those of my tenant/s are always being met. Nothing is too much bother for them and I must give a personal commendation to Rebecca Lilley, who has looked after me and my property for years and I trust her totally. She offers the right level of professionalism, coupled with the warmth of someone who cares about her clients, which for me, is the perfect combination. No matter when I ring or email, Rebecca always responds quickly and if she's not there, one of the lovely office folk, will try to help. As an added bonus, Hunters have a central client portal that allows a landlord to upload important documents and access them, whenever required. Plus, they offer an insurance to cover rental income, should it be compromised. It gives peace of mind. All in all, a great service.

We are really delighted with the professional service we have received from Hunters. We had listed our house with WH Brown but having spent almost 8 months on the market it didn’t sell. We had given up on the idea of selling but after one call with David from Hunters, him and his team booked one viewing and it sold within a week. We have been very impressed with their expert knowledge, their support, guidance and also care they have taken to help sell our house but support us in purchasing our new home. We would highly recommend anyone wanting to buy or sell their home to go with Hunters.

Waste of time

As working professionals who can rarely get free time during the weekdays, it's extremely annoying to book days off to view properties to find they're by application, and we submitted our application the day we viewed, only to have the application be rejected because it wasn't processed in time before the landlord accepted an alternative application. Not worth the time.

Dishonest and unprofessional

We drove over 250 miles to view a house listed for let @ £900. We said we like it and were happy to proceed, after all similar properties down south cost £1000 a month….We were absolutely shocked when they got back to us, offering us the house for £1000 because they knew we could afford it… we were aghast! I have never ever encountered such skullduggery and dishonesty…. Of course we declined… how can one deal with such a dishonest estate agent as these!

Very helpful and patient.

Very helpful, kind and considerate. We have just moved into our new home after lots of ups and downs which started with the Covid lockdown. Without going into detail we had a lot of problems with our respective buyers and sellers. Hunters at Pocklington were so supportive, patient and understanding and were with us at every step. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Hunters Horncastle:

Hunters Horncastle:If you are looking for an EA who keeps you updated and informed then I would NOT use Hunters, if you want the privilege of paying for doing your own work then by all means use this EA, also if you want to feel as though the EA is acting on behalf of the buyer instead of the seller… this is the one for you!!! They say the right things to get the initial business and then offer bad advise and never any follow up or conversations about the state of the market during contract period, even when requested. Also emails and WA messages were ignored. Worst Estate Agent I’ve ever used. It seems that Katherine (who did the viewings) and Susan (admin) seem to hold them just above water and do all the donkey work. Just my honest opinion!! Would have given zero rating if possible

I was buying a house through hunters

I was buying a house through hunters, wasn’t the best experience in the world. When it came to getting the keys from the bishop Auckland office, I was told to wait outside in the cold for 15 minutes, then presented with 1 key by itself, there was no congrats on your first home or any welcome gifts or anything, just here’s your key, see you later 👍🏼😂 got into the house, it wasn’t clean, the kitchen had been flooded which warped all the kitchen floor which I then had to pay to get it sorted. They should have done a check once the owners were out the house in order to make sure it was in a fit state and as seen on the viewings. I’ve since rented out houses around that area and stayed well clear of hunters, I would never use them again after the experience I had with them.

Poor overall

Poor overall! The property we were interested in was over valued by more than 10% and yet they wanted offers in excess of ?! My communication with staff was defensive and not amiable not sure why! My advice check out your move to check the property is actually worth what they say it is? Before you buy 🤗

Phoned on Monday to see if a landlord would accept me and my family as tenants. Was told maybe and that I'll get a call back in a few moments after they've rung the landlord, no phone call then I rang back on Tuesday morning to chase up and the lady said its Ross I spoke to but he's out at the moment she'll get him to ring back once he's back in the office. Guess what it's Wednesday afternoon and I'm still waiting, I guess they couldn't get hold of the landlord or the landlord wouldn't accept us. Either way a polite call like I was told would be of great appreciation. Manners costs nothing at all.

Agent replied · 22 October 2024

Hi, thank you for your feedback and I'm really sorry you feel this way. When you spoke to Ross on the Monday he left a message for our Landlord to ask. He didn't come back to us and regrettably (for the first time in 6 years!) Ross was sick the next day. When you called on Tuesday and spoke to Rebecca asking for Ross she explained he wasn't in and that she would get him to call you when he was back. You then went on to explain to Rebecca your query and she told you that they wouldn't accept someone in your position and the query was closed off. I'm sorry if you felt Ross should have still called you but the query had been resolved. I also very much regret that you have felt the need to publicly voice your opinion without coming to me first. Good luck in your search for a property. Kind Regards, David - Branch Owner

Valuation and extension options - excellent service

We contacted Hunters to explore our property options, particularly around extending our home, and to better understand both current and future values. From the outset, the service we received was exceptional.

I had the worst service with Hunters. They didn't seem to verify buyers, which meant two sales fell through and I had very few viewings. I switched to another estate agent and I had sold and completed on my property within 12 weeks.

Fiona · 25 April 2024

Agent replied · 22 October 2024

Hi Fiona When we receive an offer on any property we fully qualify a buyers affordability and check their ability to proceed before we remove that property from the market. This involves checking the chain, seeing proof of deposit, evidence of wage slips to do affordability checks and even when necessary a credit score. The first buyer didn’t send the information that we required, and it is owing to this process that your property was not removed from the market. For the second buyer, the offer was fully qualified, and the property was removed from the market as we had everything that we needed. He then changed his mind on buying your apartment which while frustrating for us both, is completely out of our control. As a branch, our fall through rate is extremely low. I know we had our challenges trying to sell your property but this was at a time when the market was extremely volatile. With interest rates going up every month buyer activity, particularly for apartments (as buyers have to factor in management charges on top of higher rates), was very low. Despite this we were able to arrange 13 viewings on your property but unfortunately, we weren’t able to get this one over the line for you. As a no sale no fee agent though you haven’t paid us a penny for the work we had done (which is absolutely how it should be!). I am very sorry that you feel our service warrants a one star review but I hope you can now see that the offers were qualified and that as your agent we followed the correct procedure to protect you. I am genuinely pleased that this is now done and dusted for you and that you can move on with your life. If you wish to discuss this with me further, please don’t hesitate to call me or email david.metcalfe@hunters.com.

Hunters -Ealing

Hunters -Ealing Friendly professional, I can’t thank Steve enough. The time, energy and commitment, he was the bridge between both my solicitor and the buyers and was 100% committed. Everything went through Smoove and this was due to Steve and Hunters-Ealing. I have recommended them to other sellers and they will be always highly recommended by me

Just don't use this Estate Agent

Just don't use this Estate Agent. And really don't use them to do an Inventory. They made so many errors we had to almost redo it ourselves. They missed the Fridge Freezer. Washing machine and Dishwasher in the Kitchen. They said there was a white wooden wardrobe in the bathroom, there isn't I could go on and on. I have asked for a refund but of course not heard anything!

Their inefficiency made me lose a living place

This is how I kept urging the agent to follow up & how their inefficiency made me lost a living place in Sep.I viewed the flat on 4th Aug and paid holding deposit on the same date. My offer was accepted on 7th Aug. When Hunters and Homelet spend more than one month for my reference check and preparation of lodger agreement, I kept asking them when I can sign the contract and so I can transfer 6 month upfront rent and deposit. On 7th Aug, I tried to enter my details of reference check on the same date. However, the system had bug. Hunters staff helped me enter the details with their internal systems in the following day, although there are some typo of my job and address reference.Perhaps because of the miscommunications among 2 parties, Homelet refused to do reference check for me as they have not yet got the approval from Hunters. With numerous e mail I requested Hunters to fix it, Homelet started sending e mails to my manager and current landlord for reference check on 15th Aug.On 17th Aug, Hunters staff asked me to pay 6-month upfront rent and deposit by e mail without sending me the lodger agreement. I promised them to make the payment when they send me the contract and contract is signed. On 25th Aug, I received the lodger agreement finally after several requests. I raised some questions in the e mail in order to shorten the time for them to answer me during our future meeting of contract signing. On 6th Sep, another Hunters staff invited me to go to their office and sign the contract on the following day. I gave her my questions again for her better preparation. On 7th Sep, that staff said meeting date had to be changed. She answered my questions very briefly. Perhaps she is not familiar with the letting issues of the flat, I simply said I will ask others when I move in. I tried to ask when we meet and sign the contract. She did not reply. On 8th Sep, another Hunters staff told me that the landlord decided to accept another offer. The studio is no longer available in the market. He asked me to state my bank details and they will refund the holding deposit. I once thought the landlord must keep bidding for a higher rental price.I must move out before 23rd Sep as official move out notice was given to the current landlord. During resume of finding rental place, I found the flat in Zoopla again with rental price unchanged.Later I found the staff of the landlord and told the landlord what’s really happening. The landlord felt so sorry & decided to give me viewings of 3 other studios. However, the size and location do not suit my need.

Rude and unprofessional

I had a viewing arranged and nobody could give me a meeting point for a large apartment building with several entrances. Spent nearly 20 minutes at the location wondering around and trying to reach the person that was supposed to show me around, all calls declined. Office couldn’t get through to her either and when she finally calls me is to rudely tell me off for not showing up at a different entrance when she never told me where to go, speaking to me in an angry tone and then hanging up.

We have taken our flat off the market…

We have taken our flat off the market following 2 failures by the agents in Filey. All seemed well to start with, enthusiastic staff produced good pictures etc. We had a viewing, a few days later we had the good news that the lady was to purchase. 3 weeks later, we were informed that she was indeed NOT buying our flat, but another in our block, still not sure where the responsibility for this lies. The second occasion, we had a second viewing from a few months ago, so were really excited. 5 minutes after the appointment we were informed the gentleman didn't even have his property on the market !! Apparently, we should have stipulated we only wanted people who are in a position to proceed. Never have we heard such stupidity, thought agents sold properties !!??

Electing Not to Evict Violent Tenant which Assaulted Another Tenant with a Knife

I am compelled to write this review to express my deep concern and disappointment with the lack of action taken by Hunters in response to a serious safety incident within one of their managed properties.Recently, I was assaulted by one of their tenants who not only brandished a knife but also forcibly entered my apartment and injured my cat. This shocking and dangerous incident has left me and other residents in the building feeling vulnerable and fearful for our safety.Despite the severity of the situation, and their tenant pleading guilty to assaulting another tenant, the response from Hunters has been shockingly inadequate. Instead of promptly addressing the issue and taking steps to ensure the safety of all residents, the management has refused to evict the responsible tenant. This decision is not only a blatant disregard for the well-being of other residents but also a failure to uphold the basic standards of tenant safety and security. It is deeply disheartening to see a property management company neglect its responsibility to maintain a secure and peaceful living environment. The safety of tenants should be paramount, and it is unacceptable that Hunters is allowing such a threat to persist within the community.Prospective tenants, please be aware of the lack of security and prioritization of tenant safety at properties managed by Hunters. In the face of a serious security breach, the management's inaction speaks volumes about their commitment to the well-being of those who entrust them with their housing needs.I urge Hunters to reconsider their stance and take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all residents in their managed properties.Michael Ryan

Had Hunters out to value my property…

Had Hunters out to value my property for sale but got really bad vibes from the valuer. Found them to be unprofessional so went with another agency (who were amazing)Unfortunately a property I liked was up with Hunters. Tried to negotiate a deal on the property but the communication through Hunters was not good. I don’t think it was the process rather the person handling it. When negotiating you would expect them to act as professional intermediaries however they were disinterested and as cold as a wet fish. I would have been better dealing directly with the homeowner and we may have been able to make a deal. I left my offer on the table but I have no idea if that was ever passed onto the homeowner. I’m sure there will be some great Hunters branches out there but I’ve not come across one yet. My heart sinks a bit now if I see a property up with Hunters. I just don’t want to deal with them ever for a purchase.Edit.We did end up buying a house through a Hunters branch. Although I did do the deal directly with the homeowner in the first instance we agreed on how to proceed and then we went to the agent. They were actually very good so I guess it’s pot luck which branch you use.
