TrustpilotExperience of a prospective buyer…
Experience of a prospective buyer: Seymours have a group of staff who are friendly and good at organising viewings on short notice which fitted around our hectic lifestyle with a young child. As a buyer we did feel though we were not valued at all by Seymour’s. The communication with us through the offering process was really really bad and often the information passed to us was in a inaccurate or hours late. Buying a property in the UK is stressful enough without poor communication from estate agents like Seymour’s.Across two properties we were interested in we found Seymour’s had created long chains (all including Seymour’s properties almost exclusively) which were susceptible to falling through. Limited efforts were made by Seymour’s in the negotiation process with the default position being ‘best and final’ (even with very few interested parties) which I don’t think benefited either buyer or seller as offers then seemed to fall though regularly. I would also suggest best and final rules are more closely observed including deadline for offers. I understand the challenges Seymour’s face but our experiences with them (on life altering decisions) were regularly upsetting and emotionally draining.

Hello Matt. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, your insights are really valuable to us as they will help us look at our processes. We do have a large market share in the area which is why we often have more than one client involved in a the same chain, equally each client asks that we try to achieve the best price for their property. When there is more than one individual interested, often the best way is to request best and final offers. Clearly an issues can arise where an offer is made and then the individual changes their minds afterwards, which they are entitled to do as every offer and transaction is "subject to contract" by law.In all instances, we have to operate within the laws and regulations, all of which feel archaic at times and we are are a company that lobbies for change. Every person in a transaction, be they a buyer or a seller is really important to us. Experiences that are upsetting or emotionally draining are a concern and ones that we try our best to eliminate wherever we can.

TrustpilotSeymours Staines Branch
Mark from Seymours, Staines branch made the choice easy on what Estate Agents on the area to choose. He is down to earth, highly knowledgeable in the local market and area. He made no unrealistic promises (unlike other Agents). Only a promise that he and his team would work hard to sell our property....Mark kept to his word.We accepted an offer within a week after numerous viewings. I was kept up to date with all processes. Everything was running smoothly until the buyers pulled out at point of exchange The same week the housing market took a dive! The team got straight back on the task finding appropriate potential buyers and we soon accepted an offer. This process was quite long and and not as straight forward as the first (no fault of Seymours.) But again we were kept up to date, Alan and Billy kept on top of actions. Choose Seymours, they work hard, get to know your home, they match suitable potential buyers to your property. The team are helpful, friendly and approachable. Thank you Mark, Gary, Sohail Billy and especially not forgetting Alan who continuously kept me updated and gave a nudge when needed to help move to completion.

TrustpilotSeymours has played a major role in…
Seymours has played a major role in helping us to achieve a successful house sale following our dreadful experience with another local agency which was very rude and lacking professionalism. We were extremely disappointed with this first agent who wasted 2 precious months during the summer time where the house market price was at its best to sell our property. This left us sceptic as to being able to trust another agent again. That was until we contacted Mark (Seymours) who managed to convince us to give it a try again with his agency appreciating that he and his team had also managed to sell successfully another house in our same street with a neighbour we knew quite well. We are forever grateful for Mark’s support who has shown a high level of expertise and professionalism during the time our property was on sale on the market. He played an important role in providing an accurate and realistic valuation of our property and in reinsuring us about the unique opportunity we had before the winter came, at a time where we were dealing with multiple personal challenges in our life. We would also like to thank his team and more specifically Simon, Alan, Billy, Gary and Sahil who also helped by maintaining a smooth communication during the entire process. They were extremely professional, very kind and their approach were smooth, removing any ambiguities and/or misunderstandings during the entire process. I have no hesitation in recommending Seymours to anyone hoping to sale their property successfully. Thank you again to all the Seymours team for all their help and commitment. We wish you all a great year 2023 filled with more happy clients like us.

Trustpilotthe agency is very thorough and diligent
the agency (Surbiton) is thorough and diligent. I am a buyer and I appreciated how the property was immediately marked "sold subject to contract" on websites as soon as they accepted my offer. When you're going through mortgage application etc, knowing that the property is no longer marketed is very comforting. I'm not sure if this is the general practice, or was specific to this property, but it meant a lot for me. Also, they did basic due diligence on me prior to passing my offer on the seller, which other agencies I offered with, didn't. If I become a seller one day, I'm probably going to look for this sort of attitude. The downside would be a slightly sluggish response rate, but in cases like that - I just called them. Other than that, I did not experience any discomfort dealing with them.My contacts were Sam Brown and Jenny Morgan.

TrustpilotGo Elsewhere
Slow communication with us as well as communication within their own office - don't blame it on the international factor, that should not have been an issue, especially since you said you deal with international customers all the time. Typos in communication via email as well as on printed property brochures as well as online listing. This is a huge negative and extremely unprofessional. And, still typos in email correspondence after complaining about it. Again, not professional at all for those kinds of typos. Recommended a horrible solicitor but then only recommended a slightly less horrible one after that, but they didnt seem very concerned with our solicitor issues because at that point, they had already made the sale. On that note, I could have and should have used a private solicitor. Would not use Seymour's again.

TrustpilotQuick introduction of good potential buyers.
Nick visited in February when we still had a tenant and the flat was quite tatty. Three months later, after a refurb, he came round and revised the estimate upwards to reflect the improvements. In the event, we had four viewings in five days and got an offer in excess of the new valuation.Well done indeed. Sale not done and dusted yet but full expectations of a prompt and successful completion.

TrustpilotDeserve Negative 5 Stars
Rogue agency to be avoided at all costs. They are ignorant of the market place, highly arrogant but above all they are incompetent. To compensate for their incompetence, they are abusive and heavily rely on gaslighting you on the phone but will not commit such sentiments to writing. They act against the best interest of their client, the seller. The only way they can sell a house is at less than its market value. They will verbally abuse and try and coerce you sell at any price in order for them to get their commission. They do this through falsifying data, being incapable of dealing with buyers professionally with competence and will harass you multiple times a day to apply pressure. When challenged they act like petulant children and do not fulfil their contractual obligations. To anyone looking for an agent, heed the multiple warnings about this agency being rouges. Selling a home is an extremely stressful process compounded tenfold by the abusive, unprofessional and incompetence of these agents. Extremely concerning for old or vulnerable sellers who may be bullied by their agents into making poor financial decisions that will negatively impact their futures and standard of living, all so they can gain a commission at any cost. Totally unethical and inhumane. Review relates to Horsell Office

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Jackie. Your feedback is important, and we rely on hearing from our clients to ensure we’re doing a great job.Given the rating and detail in your review, this clearly was not the case for you, and we are sorry to hear this. Our customers are the heart of our business, and we understand that our job is to put them first. We are glad that we were able to get to a successful exchange and completion on your property in Ottershaw. After having been on with several other agents for over a year and having had to reduce the property several times before coming to Seymours, it must have been a relief that we were finally able to secure a buyer for you. From the start, it was clear that you were unhappy with ‘the process’ itself because it sounds like you fell out with all four of the previous estate agents when they hadn’t found you a buyer. We believe in honest, factual advice and have built our business on these principles. The data we often use comes straight from rightmove which shows the entire marketplace of who is selling what and for how much. Whilst it may not have been what you wanted to hear, it is what you needed to know, and we didn’t force you to go through with the sale at the offer you agreed to. It’s a shame you felt the need to leave us this 1 star review even though we were the only ones to be honest with you from the start on the price and market. As it’s the first ever bad review and having had over 100 Google reviews that were all 5 stars, in this instance, we are going to have to agree to disagree with your recollection and politely wish you the best of luck. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your review, we hope you have a lovely Christmas in your new home.
Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
