I really do rate Barnard Marcus as an estate agency but their mortgage service offering is a joke. I took out a mortgage with them which is due to be renewed in March. They contacted me yesterday and when I returned their call they said they were too busy to advise me until February. A month away! They obviously prioritise new customers. I feel really let down and wish I’d stayed with my previous mortgage advisor who offers a reliable service.

I will always choose Barnard Marcus because of the professionalism and the good quality work of their employees, I was fortunate to have Tom Glynne attend to me. The experience from the beginning to the end was nothing but excellent. Less than two weeks before the completion of the original property I was to move to, the owner pulled out for a reason not mine nor the estate agent. It was a devastating news. Tom and his colleagues were so proactive and helpful and they got me the type of property I want and the move in date just a day after I would have moved into the original property. In the world of technology that is almost taking away human participation, I did not experience this with Barnard Marcus, infact they have super human, empathetic being, as employees. Barnard Marcus New Malden helped me sell my previous house and simultaneously buy another, during the period September 22 to March 23. My buyer, my seller and I were the only parties in the chain. Barnard Marcus did a fantastic job of holding the deal(s) together to leave all three parties content, in very difficult market circumstances (resulting from the Truss and Kwarteng budget). However, better communication during the sale progression about my buyer’s mortgage application / intentions would have much reduced the inevitable stress inherent in such transactions. Although we were not purchasing a property through Barnard Marcus, we engaged Darren Wild, their Mortgage Services Manager. We were immediately impressed by the comprehensive database he used to research the property we were initially interested in, one that was originally linked to Barnard Marcus. This capability gave us such confidence that we chose to work with Darren again when pursuing another property that had no connection to the agency. Darren’s extensive experience and prompt turnaround in assessing affordability were outstanding. At one point during our email correspondence, he remarked, “With that figure, I can comfortably work it out for you,” which reassured us that we had made the right choice in selecting him.
