We could not have asked for a better service from Christine, Lucy and Laura. Our move was quite challenging to the say the least especially on the day we were meant to complete, they were calm when all around were not, they looked after us and kept us informed of the situation when others who were meant to did not, helping us find emergency accommodation. We cannot thank them enough.

AVOID - CAN NEVER GET HOLD OF THEM

1. they over value the properties. not informing ppl that the current interest rates are sky high so better to be realistic ! selling properties in yardley at 500k - solihull prices in my opinion2, you can never get through. once they have your property on sale people cant get through to book a viewing, they then cant get through to put in an offer, voice messages left, and no body responds . unprofessional - STAY CLEAR

Excellent service from Paul Orme and the team at Dixons Yardley!!

We have dealt with Paul Orme and his team at Dixons Yardley previously and they were faultless so when we decided to sell our rental property we knew we had to contact Paul. We received a valuation with 24 hours and had an agreed sale within 72 hours - now that is service!! Amazing as always and highly recommended! One very happy customer!

I need to change review. I still stand by my first review to an extent. At the time, I couldn't thank them enough. Now, not so much lol After trying to get hold of our broker and solicitors for the better half of the year, we have failed to so. Emails are being ignored and bouncing back from solicitors. Even the phone number we have has been disconnected. We were failed by this team. I understood going in there would certain things that break in the future. I wasnt naive to think something wouldn't need doing. But I thought it would be a broken sink (which we did have) orntoilet( which we also had) not the major structural problems we've faced. But nothing could have prepared me for the money I've spent on this house. (Not including how much I paid for it) We've been to our lender, and although half of the stuff was not on the surveyors list, they arent at fault. Not once was we told there are different surveyor checks you pay for. If I had known, we would have got a full check done. When we were told the one room had insurance, yet, did not affect me in anyway shape or form, we trusted her. The information past back from solicitor we also trusted her to tell us truthfully and not mix words. She failed to mention that up to 20k could be knocked off asking pricing with or without the entity insurance. Or that the insurance the previous owners paid for wasnt worth the paper it was written on, as me, the buyer, could never use it. Or that my home insurance would not cover it as it was used as a living space when it's not down as a bedroom. So in the short time we've been here, we've had part of the building attached, collapse, due to rising damp. The day we moved in we needed to buy not only a new cooker, but new plumbing throughout. But the bedroom the insurance was under, collapsed. The walls collapsed. The ceiling collapsed. And then not long after, the roof was leaking. All of which I've had to lend to pay for as MY insurance doesnt cover it. Which she also failed to mention. When we asked what the insurance meant for us, she told it was just a tecnicalty for previous owners and didn't effect us in any way. We were fully covered. She told us the insurance was there if anything ever went wrong with the room. That I would not have to pay for it. We were greatly mislead. The insurance can never actually be used. And she didnt tell us that. It's just a piece of paper. I honestly feel cheated out of thousands with a home that is slowly destroying my family. My daughter had to go stay with a relative because of the devastation of their room while my daughter slept on her mattress in the front room. I had to pay for all the broken furniture. And we still have more walls slowly collapsing. We have managed to complete one floor of rewiring as they must have done it themselves and was a serious hazard. I paid a small fortune to people to look out for my best interests for nothing. I was robbed. And with no answer now from anyone or help from either lender or estate agents, it will be too late tonfo anything. And before people ask why dont you sell, it's because I've paid a quarter of what this house is worth into fixing stuff that I will NEVER get back. Because I cant sell. It will be very hard for me to do which was also failed to be explained when I asked how it affected me. This was my first buy and knew nothing which was why i paid for the help.

Thank you Lisa for taking the time to leave us your further comments. I am aware that you had previously rated our team 5*'s in September 2018 when the property was purchased. Whilst I am sorry to read that you have experienced additional costs to resolve matters with the property, all properties are sold as seen with the option available to the purchaser to instruct a full structural survey prior to completion with this option normally explained by your mortgage lender when arranging a valuation survey. I do note that you say this was your first purchase and that you paid for help and assistance. I can confirm that while our agents will always aim to help and advise when possible, we do not charge any buyer for purchasing a property and believe you may be referring to your mortgage lender or conveyancing solicitor. I do hope you have been able to resolve the matters with the property and I do hope over time these issue don't over shadow your eventual enjoyment of the property. Should you wish to discuss further, please contact us via review@countrywide.co.uk. Kind regards, Scott @ Customer Relations.

Highly recommend Dixons estate agents!!

Highly recommend Dixons estate agents to anyone! Especially first time renters/buyers!Me and my partner was looking at renting our first home together, we was so uneducated and didn’t know what to expect but Dixons was a godsend!I had my eye on a house in my childhood neighbourhood so I applied, not thinking that we’d actually get the house but we did! We had 2 lovely lady’s helping us called Megan and holly and they both was amazing!! Megan showed us around the house and answered all questions for us, and holly was brilliant especially over the phone! I dread to think how many times I kept calling but holly always answered politely and answered all my questions. Definitely felt so comfortable with Dixons! Highly recommend!

Amelia Pace should wear a Wonderwoman cape! Her drive and determination to smash through any obstacles that could hold up our house sale were outstanding. Through her effective and regular communication with the buyer and pushing the solicitors on both sides, she succeeded in getting completion of our sale even earlier than we'd hoped. Her straight-talking and tenacity are a breath of fresh air!

I can't speak highly enough of Christine and Hayley at Dixons in Kidderminster and they weren't even our agent! Unfortunately our purchase was held up for what seemed like forever due to legal shenanigans with solar panel leases, land registry modifications and misplaced documents and if it wasn't for Christine and Hayley's tenacity in chasing and following up every little modicum of information provided/required I think we'd still be waiting. Brilliant team, keep up the good work!

Avoid Dixons

I let out my flat with Dixons in December 2022 as I was not able to get a new tenant myself. They were initially responsive to get my business, and did get a tenant into the property. After that things immediately went downhill.I signed up for the 'fully managed' property management service at Dixons in Selly Oak. I had some minor repairs reported by a tenant (hole in wall needed plastering, bath sealant replacing and some rust on bathroom mirror). I advised the work be done by a contractor and Dixons came back quoting £800! Unable to go through with such a ridiculous quote, I did the work myself costing £30 and 1 hour of my time. I was amazed that Dixons did not check the quote at all, and did not visit the property. They then double-charged me the tenant sign-on fees (the first tenant they found did not even stay a month) but did not tell me they were charging twice, I had to tell them and then chase and nag for my refund for 3 months. It also took over 1 month of chasing just to have them send me the tenancy agreement and relevant paperwork. At this point I stopped seeing any value in the service - it was much easier when I managed the property myself, Dixons just made things much harder and more expensive. Please do not sign up to this service expecting your property management to be easier or cheaper. My experience with Dixons has transformed my view on property management and I regret signing up to this. I have had to physically go the the branch to get them to do anything.UPDATE Dec 2023 - The nightmare continues. I've been trying to retrieve the deposit back from Dixons but the senior branch manager has no clue how this works and even told me to protect the deposit that I am not holding! After over 2 months of chasing, and over 50 emails, and several phone calls, I finally got the tenant their deposit back. It's absolutely laughable that I got Dixons involved to make property management easier - it has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had being a landlord. I'm glad I got out when I did or it would have been a financial disaster too.

APPROACHED DIXONS FOR A VALUATION LAST WEEKEND WITH NO IMMEDIATE INTENTION TO SELL. WE MADE THIS VERY CLEAR AT THE INITIAL MEETING AND HAVE DONE SO SEVERAL TIMES SINCE . WE HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY PUSHY, PRESSURE SELLING TACTICS BY THEIR AGENT , HAYLEY LEWIS, WHO IS TOTALLY IGNORING OUR INSTRUCTIONS AND CONTACTING US TO TRY AND MAKE US SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM, TOTALLY IGNORING WHAT WE SAY TO HER. HER APPROACH IS SO OFF PUTTING AND HAS RESULTED IN A VERY NEGATIVE EFFECT ON US. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND APPROACHING THIS AGENCY IF ALL YOU WANT IS A VALUATION TO START WITH, ITS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE . THIS SHOULD BE A 'NO' STAR RATING BUT THEIR SYSTEM DOESN'T ALLOW IT ! A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AGENT.

I have read your review of Dixons and I am very sorry to hear that you felt you did not have a positive experience. I would like to try and clear a few things for you. When your partner (the owner of the property) contacted us for a valuation it was because we had sold a similar property in your road, and he had seen a property that he was interested in buying. Hayley booked the Valuation in for him. I then called him as the branch Manager, as we did have disappointed buyers that had lost out on the one that we had recently sold in the same road to see if he would like me to tentatively start speaking to these buyers, which he thought was a great idea and asked me to do. We came out to see you both on the Valuation and discussed how this would work, your partner asked for time to think about this and we had to get to another appointment so Hayley agreed to call him later that day. Hayley spoke to your partner later that day and he asked us to send over the contract so we could arrange the viewings on the basis of what had been discussed at the appointment. Hayley started to prepare this when we received a call from your partner to say you had, had a disagreement about doing this and just to leave it. Which Hayley said was totally fine. We then called your partner 4 days later to see if he wanted to be removed from the data base or whether he still wanted to look at options. He said no not for now. Hayley wished him well and he asked her to send an email with any suitable properties that came up. If we can be of any help in the future please do let us know.

Poor service

Very unimpressed with Dixons service in our recent house sale. First buyer they found wanted a buy-to-let mortgage but couldn’t get one so dropped out. We then dropped the price of our property for a quick sale, as we had already committed to an onward purchase, and we got 5 good offers as a result. Despite telling us that they were ‘working for us’ and that ‘the highest offer isn’t necessarily the best one to take’ Dixons proceeded to go with the highest offer - without even asking us if we were happy with that - a client who we soon realized had no real intention of going through with the purchase and we asked them to move on to the next highest offer. Dixons refused, saying we needed to “give him time” even though, after having been approved for his mortgage he had refused to sign it off saying that he wanted to view the property once more, which should have started alarm bells ringing for them too given that we had already expressed our concerns that he would not proceed with the purchase. Another week went by with him ignoring requests to come in and complete the paperwork before he finally admitted he wasn’t going to proceed, as we had suspected all along that he wouldn’t. Only then did Dixons try to contact the other 4 people who had made offers but, with more than three weeks having now passed, they were unsuccessful in contacting any of them. Then, they recommended an investor of theirs, presumably out of desperation to complete their target of finding ‘a buyer’ so they could claim their fees, who said he would purchase but at a much lower price than it was advertised for. Because we didn’t want to lose our onward purchase we reluctantly agreed to sell to him but, had Dixons ‘worked for us’ as they claimed to do, and acted on our request to move on to other clients we would likely have sold the property for a lot more. Often, email questions we asked about the process went unanswered and then, two days after we finally moved, we received a phone call from Dixons sales progressor asking when we were going to drop off the keys as the buyer was waiting to gain access. We had to explain that we had dropped off the keys and deeds on the day of completion. We were somewhat dismayed that she had called us without first checking with the other staff if we had brought them in. Because of their handling of our sale we feel like we were cheated out of tens of thousands of pounds. We certainly won’t ever use Dixons again and wouldn’t recommend anyone else do either.
