Look elsewhere

Lied to from the start. Our experience has been awful. We love the home, but there’s so many issues and they’re not getting fixed. Painters been in half a dozen times and it’s still not corrected. Garage floods in winter but told it’s not meant to have anything other than a car in. Storage in one cupboard and an airing cupboard. No storage allowed on roof or garage. A major issue we weren’t made aware of.All they do is meet standards and don’t care about the customer.

SHUT BOVIS DOWN!

Bovis are the worst house builder I have ever seen. I would give them 0 stars if that was possible. The service along with the poor building quality leads to the worst new build developer out there. We brought a Bovis home as our first house and it has ruined our entire experience. The build quality is shocking due to leaking baths, poor painting skills, bowed front doors, poorly fitted panels, contracts put in place by bovis but not followed through leaving us to deal with the issues. Words can not describe how angry and frustrated bovis make us feel. They have not only taken our money but they have taken up all of our time making us constantly use up our holiday allowance so that they can come and assess a problem for the 4,5,6th time just with a different person. It took 4 months of a leaking shower screen and countless times of me telling them where it was coming from to which they did not listen and told us that we were making it up even though I had filmed and taken photos and sent it to the site manager every time it happened. Eventually the site manager showed his face after countless times of saying to him for him to come along and I pointed out where the issue was and it was sorted in 5 minutes. The lack of care bovis show is disgusting. The quality of finish is so poor. I have been told countless times by Ruth Copeland customer care director for the western region that each house goes through various checks carried out by site teams and a director. I have told them on multiple occasions whoever gave our house the green light to say it is finished is either completely stupid and has zero experience or just simply does not care. I put it down to both things. The CEO Greg Fitzgerald does not even care about customers or their experience because in his eyes they have our money and they do not need us anymore, countless times I have emailed him about the issues and I get nothing but other than to speak to the useless managers below him that have no interest in sorting our problems and just want us to be quiet and put up with it. Bovis should not be allowed to trade as a new house builder as like other reviews I have read if the quality we can see is shocking then it makes you wonder what we can’t see. Bovis need to be shut down to stop more people from having such an awful experience. We are 10 months into our first home and already are looking to move as quickly as possible.SHUT BOVIS DOWN!

Not great

In terms of customer service, they’re ok however we was promised the house would be ready by November 2020. Due to the current situation, this was delayed to March 2021 which we completely understand. A couple months later they told us the house would be ready in June/July and not March. This is the only complaint we have against Bovis as we was supposed to be in our house by now, but it was delayed several times.

Virtually Criminal - AVOID

Appalling and practically criminal.Update: 11/03/2020: Still no response to my requests for a refund. Legal action is obviously necessary with this type of organisation. We reserved a house off plan virtually three years ago on the Longford Park development in North Oxfordshire and duly paid our deposit. The lead time to the build completion was 12 months. During that time we experienced valuation and mortgage issues with the property, but despite this we continued to pursue the purchase and went so far to order and pay for extras / upgrades. Little did we know, that when we paid for the additional features our reserved property had already been sold to someone else, which is contrary to applicable regulations. We understand the same sales-person who took the payment also sold the property several weeks earlier. To me this is fraud - taking money under false pretences. They subsequently pulled the sale from under us, without consultation of notification, we found out via a third party. Incredible!! The same sales representative or malefactor as I see it, was extremely rude when we tried to discuss / understand the situation and all meeting requests fell on deaf ears. However, the worst thing is despite breaking the rules, Bovis have refused to reimburse the deposit or the moneys paid for the extras, despite the numerous request over the years. In fact we have had no response to our recent correspondence. We were forced to start our house search and negotiation with another developer again, a year after we first put down our deposit with Bovis. The impact was we have lost the money we directly paid and we have lost money due to the market price increase over the period. Ergo, this translates to a loss of in the region of £9000.00 I have reported this to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, although whether they take action remains to be seen. I will purse Bovis through the small claims court as I now feel I have no other options available. For your information. The Longford Park site has had numerous instances of high profile complaints and I am familiar with copious anecdotal instances from neighbours and traders of extremely poor quality builds. In fact the people who purchased the house we reserved, where coerced into moving in without hot water to allow the site to meet its end of year targets. I fully appreciate Bovis often offer what appear to be good sales deals, but the reality is, the savings you seem to make are often lost through poor quality control and inconvenience due to significant remediation, another neighbour needed their whole house re-rendered. Or like us, they will simply take your money and pull the rug from under you.The bottom line is to beware and seriously consider your options before dealing with this company which appears to me more like the front for an organised criminal agency that a reputable developer.

We bought our new Bovis home in…

We bought our new Bovis home in Maidstone last June, We were amazed at the attention to detail and the finish of our home. We have had a few snagging issue, which you would expect in a new home but nothing major. The sales team when we bought were brilliant, the on site manager was great and dealt with the initial snagging list one week after we moved in. Since then we have been dealing with customer care and, although a little slow, anything else thats popped up has been dealt with. I would have been put off buying our homes after reading these reviews, so this prompted mine. We are very happy in our new home.

We bought a Bovis House in October 19 in Flore. The service we have received from the sales office to the site manager has been great. I can't say it's been trouble free and have had a couple of leeks and the odd bits of snagging, but they were resolved very quickly. The house has been signed off now and we are in the care of customer service, so it may become more difficult, but up until now it's been great and love the house.

I would never buy a bovis (now Visty) home again. No wonder they changed their name. We had a long snagging list when we first purchased, someone csme yo look at it and promised to return. No one ever has. My husband ended up gaving to sort the wrongly connected soil pipe causing sewage smell in the kitchen. Substandard workmanshil all round. Obviously the company has skimped in their workers preferting to pay rock bottom rather than skilled workers. All profits going to people at the top. The company is a disgrace, no wonder they have cganged their name.

Useless

Bovis Homes have sold patches of land on the estate on which I live to some dodgy property management company who are now seeking to extort residents out of a ‘service charge’ fee for the supposed upkeep of these patches, even though they are hundreds of yards from our homes and of no benefit to us, and our homes are freehold anyway. Six years on from the purchase of my property, I have discovered that Bovis STILL haven’t completed the legal process by which the local council adopt the estate because they have failed to carry out remedial works. Nor have they created a residents’ association, as they were contractually required to do. Had they done either of these things, residents would not have been exposed to the extortion currently being attempted by the property management company that Bovis appointed. Based on my experience, I simply cannot recommend that anyone purchases a property from Bovis because you will still be slapped with rising service charges even if your house is freehold. I have appealed to Bovis to intervene with the property management company, but thus far they have done nothing but come up with lame excuses. However, as the saying goes ‘sunlight is the best disinfectant’, so hopefully in sharing my experience, other potential Bovis customers will think twice before purchasing a property from them.

I would not recommend bovis to anybody

I would not recommend bovis to anybody. Unfortunately I can’t give them 0 stars so begrudgingly they have 1.Hera are a few of the reasons why I rate them so badly:1) They built our house wrong and had to knock it down delaying our completion date by months. I had to walk them to our plot and explain what they had done wrong.2) They gave us the wrong plans when we reserved the house. Our property has dorma windows on the top floor and we were sold a full height three storey house. Again I had to take them to a plot and show them photographs of what we had signed for and how the property they were building was different.3) the sales team, site managers and customer service staff have all been useless, never returning calls, answering emails and on occasions incredibly rude and insulting. I was told after moving into my property by the site manager that I “had not paid enough money to expect a good quality home”. Unfortunately they don’t put this on the brochure.4) Endless snags, some we have had to involve outside agencies in. Three years in and we are stil fighting. 5) on the occasions they have fixed something they’ve broken two other things in the process. For example they re-tiled the bathroom following a leak and managed to crack a floor tile and brake the shower screen, which we are now in our 6th month of battling with them to come back and fix. I could go on forever. I was going to make a list of the positives as It would have been quicker but there really aren’t any. My only advice would be if you are reading this before you have committed then run for your lives.

Extremely poor sales woman

This isn't about a brought bovis home but a terrible experience me and my husband had at the longhedge village, amesbury show home on 07/02/20 @1400.We walked into the office asking to view the show home as we have been looking around the area for our perfect home. The woman who was working at the time said "sorry we only have a 5 bed show home" and looked at at us up and down. We said "yes, can we view it please" she then went on to say that only people who wanted to buy the 5 bed home were allowed to view it. So we asked if we didn't look good enough to buy a 5 bed home and she came back with a very sarcastic comment. We were in fact looking at a 5 bed home, but if we weren't then why couldn't we go into the show home and look at the quality of the build? We're both really disappointed with this ladys reaction and now want nothing to do with bovis. It's a shame how one poor sales woman can ruin a potential sale or more!

1 Year in and still having to fight to get things rectified

We have been in our new Bovis home for over a year now. We have had several snagging issues (which you expect with any new build), dates provided by Bovis where the contractors haven't turned up and we have lost holiday/pay. Our back door still lets in water and our drainage problems are still not sorted out. They break their promises at every turn. The only way we have got anywhere is by going to a national paper and contacting the CEO of Bovis directly. This should not be the way people are treated. All sorts of promises made prior to purchasing and even put on writing .... not fulfilled!!!!! They count on you not having the strength and money to keep going. Many many in the same situation on the Bovis site at Boorley Green, Botley, Hampshire. For your own sanity, please do not buy a new Bovis home.

Shocking company

Shocking company. Bought a house in 2010 and the road has still not been adopted by the council due to Bovis Homes erecting a Lowe level fence around the pedestrian walkway alongside the close which is against planing regulations and very dangerous as all pedestrians have to walk on the road. We have tried to speak with someone of authority but can not get past the customer care department. My advice is don’t buy from Bovis Homes.

I would not recommend Bovis homes to my worst enemy. They are truly deceptive, at first we we're happy with our home. However, when we came to remortgage we found we'd been caught in a con. The title on our property gives rights to CP Bigwood LTD or SDL Property Management (they keep changing their name) to charge us for a certificate of compliance when we remortgage or sell the property. Bovis refuse to admit that they have anything to do with this and have now just stopped responding to e-mails. I don't understand why companies can't make money honestly and have to rip off their customers by putting in shady practices like this.

Deliberately fit faulty items and bodge up the work when you are in!!!! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

Since moving in to our property in September 2017 we have had nothing but problems regarding several issues. We are due to be having our 3rd front door installed (yes 2 they have put in already are faulty and warped). We were told by another neighbour in the street that the subcontractors who installed the first set of doors advised Bovis that several of the doors were warped and were told to ‘get on and fit them’. They would not disclose which other neighbour had a faulty door and funnily enough it was us.Another door was installed and we notified them immediately that the door did not sit right to the frame and we could in fact see daylight through the front door. This was discussed in April 2019 and it has only been confirmed now that it will be fitted early next year (still awaiting confirmed date). We have had to fight the aftercare team to get a replacement. 2 full days and 2 half days I have had to take out of my work holiday entitlement because they have simply tried bodging the job to try and get it to work claiming it was the lock which we knew it wasn’t. Again, the company don’t seem to care about the implications this has on the customer and what the customer misses out on because they cannot get things right without requesting you be available for many inspections. Our front porch has been peeling ever since we have moved in and despite several emails and chasers we are no further forward with getting this sorted and not even had an acknowledgement that someone will sort this. Again, trying to bodge the work by painting over plastic and expecting it to work, only to start peeling again a few months later.Damp in the bathroom which took 3 visits for them to come out and rectify. Guess what, again more time taken off of work to be available for this. Fan clearly not adequate to clear moisture from the ensuite is the reason for this issue but they point blank refuse to replace this fan to the same one fitted in the main bathroom and say ‘open windows’. I have had an independent damp expert advise me that opening windows in the colder months will simply make the issue worse as will add moisture to the room (we will wait and see if the issue will resurface). Now Bovis have finished building and selling at the site it would seem that they do not care with trying to get issues sorted. You would not buy a brand new car and expect to be taking this in to the garage 5 or 6 times to bodge work up so I do not see why they think it is acceptable to do this on many peoples biggest purchase of their life.I would be certain to never recommend Bovis to anyone I know and will be sure to attend new development sites over the coming weeks to ensure people considering purchasing from them are aware of the terrible service that is to be received.

This company is a joke

This company is a joke. We brought a five bedroom home in Wokingham two years ago since then we have had non stop problems. We have so many outstanding snags still. The management is so useless they have no clue about customer services and how to treat their customers. Once they have your money they don’t care about you or your house it don’t matter how stress you get.The Wokingham customer care has been disgraceful we are having to accept patch ups around our property because they refuse to properly fix the the rubbish work they originally done. I am so fed up of these money making fools.Take my advice do not buy from Bovis. Most of my street have face this crap service from Wokingham Customer Care they should fire the whole lot and start over again and get people in who feel some empathy for customers who are having to deal with stressful day to day rubbish all due to the rubbish customer care.

They couldn't even get there own sales office tel number right on the emails that they did mange to send! How on earth they still sell homes is beyond me.I think they must get there staff from the lobotomy dept of the nearest hospital, in conjunction with the McDonald's staff rejects. Most of there homes are built where the sun don't shine, which is exactly where they belong!Best you look elsewhere or you will find out why there is so many bad reviews!

Very pleased with their service

Not sure why only frustrated people leave reviews, which obviously are bad. Living in my second Bovis house now, i find the house very nice and the faults i had with the property are nothing to worry about. You don't go and buy a car and expect no faults. And if it breaks down , it's obvious that the manufacturer will try to fix the faulty part , rather than replace. I believe people don't understand the meaning of the word "fault" . I had a good home demonstration where i was explained everything about the house and it made sense. I'm enjoying the house and i wouls buy again anytime.

Buying from Bovis has proved to be the worse decision possible, not only do they lie and make endless false promises, they put on a fake smile to start with and manipulate and lie to get you to sign paper so they don’t have to do any snags (endless amount wrong, several doors lock didn’t even work).Clear and blatant lack of quality and care, checks are not done correctly!Been waiting 6months for snags to be complete, left them a key for the flat for 5months, promised be within a week when we first gave them a key......what a joke.Have an excuse for everything and clearly have no interest in doing a good job, don’t even manage the site to standards and will dodge any responsibility, even when five different parties all say this comes under their responsibility. Terrible business which hires useless employees, and seeing them describe as bullies makes sense, unreal, don’t buy from them!

Avoid this builder

We moved into our new home three years ago. We had numerous problems with them so would never buy a Bovis home again! My recently problem jusy to top everything is a leak we have just noticed. We had a roofer out and he just let us know that the ridged between our house and the neighbour's house have not been done properly first place. As the wind blows the rain gets in and also there is a rip in the felt. We just haven't notice as we had a tall wardrobe where the leak is. NHBC warranty covers this but there's an excess of £1227. A completed rip off!!!!!To pay this when you buy a new house and you think not a lot can go wrong. This was just to mentions the worst we had but i coukd go on all day ....Not to mention my neighbor' s nice big crack in the wall as they failed to cut a big tree out too close to the house.

Be careful BEFORE paying reservation fee

We pulled out of the house purchase as the Bovis reps hadn't been very transparent about the development - i.e. lots of homes on the development had been sold to an affordable homes company and these weren't shown on the marketing materials and they didn't tell us when asked - they told us the houses were private. So my reservation fee was meant to be back with me in 10 working days. It's now 21 working days and still waiting.Awful company.

Manipulating, lying bullies!

If I could give them 0 stars I would! Myself and my husband have been fed lie after lie and have had nothing but consistent issues from this foul company. A year on we are still waiting for outstanding snags to be dealt with, complaints to be dealt with and for an apology!! As soon as they take your money you become non existent and they are completely unwilling to help. They manipulate you into completing a survey as soon as you’ve got your first foot in your new home to get the best reviews then treat you like dirt afterwards. We have been waiting for 6 months to retract our customer satisfaction survey but have been told we cannot until snags are complete which should have been done 11 months ago meaning most of their customer satisfaction reviews that potential new customers read are not accurate. I have been personally bullied by staff members in the sales office and was left on moving day out in the rain in tears with nowhere to go because they denied me the keys to our home after lying that we would have the keys early as a ‘good will gesture’ for all the issues we had up to that point- more lies from Bovis! Management for the company are all laughable and an embarrassment sticking up for staff members who compulsively lie just to keep up their pride. The customer is NEVER right seems to be the motto for this waster company!!

Absolutely shocking aftercare

Absolutely shocking aftercare. West Midlands customer care are truly awful, no record of previous calls, 8 days to pass on my complaint, for which I followed their complaints procedure, promises to call back - they don't. Logged a fault with electric switch, it took them 3 weeks to log it with the contractor - they blamed the contractors email for the delay. The contractor was booked in for 5 weeks after I logged the issue, I take time off work, the electrician calls to say he will be 45 mins and....No show. Logged an issue with ground maintenance in July...got a reply today saying they'll let me know when they have an update! Pxxs poor..don't buy off these people unless you want to waste time chasing silly little issues that they clearly don't give a damn about, because they've already got yr money.
