I went to Farm Girl in South Kensington recently for lunch and I had a bad experience. To start with, I waited for a long time standing for someone to acknowledge my presence and lead me to my table. I must have called at least 2 different waiters to get a menu and take my order. I got the Farm Bowl salad with an extra side of feta. As the waiter was bringing the food, he tripped and spilled part of the feta on the floor and the table. He did not apologise, neither did he clean up after his mess. To top it off, I had to ask for cutlery because there wasn't any provided. For the bill, I had to wait for another waiter to notice my presence again, so that was another 10 minutes wasted. Went here for brunch with a friend. We waited forever to be seated despite lots of free tables. Unfortunately those weren’t clean, which caused the delay. The staff seemed hurried and skittish. Our coffee was served almost 7 minutes after our food was and it took them quite a while. If it’s busy they should just inform people that the wait could be longer. It wasn’t comfy at all because our table was in the line of the waiting queue and people kept brushing against our table. Unfortunately the portions were super small. The granola + yoghurt was a joke for its price. At least everything tasted alright. Terrible, mediocre food and overpriced. A cuisine that tries to be sophisticated and inclusive but the vegetarian and vegan options we tasted were terrible, however consistent with the rest of the cuisine which managed to make even the eggs terrible (not that I'm a culinary luminary but the eggs come on, you have to work hard to make them hurt). If I could give no stars I would. I waited 15 minutes before asking the table beside me could I look at their menu. I said I'd wait 10 more mins and if no one took my order I was leaving. In total I waited around 25 minutes and left. Nobody came to take our orders but yet one waitress beside me was smoking a cigarette on her break yet many tables waiting to be served. I didn't walk in mid break she literally left for a smoke after ignoring us and the other tables. A joke. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I staked this place out before I arrived because it was a quick walk from my hotel. The rose latte was beautiful and good, but I couldn't help feel like I was drinking a drink laced with perfume, lol. The sour cherry pancakes were magnificent. The cherries with the cocoa nibs, coconut, and yogurt was other wordly. I got a side of bacon. Prepared a little differently compared to in the states as we fry our bacon till it's crispy, this was more meaty. I sat outside so I didn't actually see the inside of the restaurant but it was cute from what I saw. Delicious! This café is the perfect representation of Zero Interest Rate Phenomenon. Nobody, and I meant it when I say it, needs 16 different lattes. It's overpriced (I understand the dynamics of rent and pricing in the area, but still), and the food in decent at best. Now, does it make it a bad place? By no means. It's very specific and for a certain audience, which I, unfortunately, am not. It's for people who, when saying "superfood", don't think about a weird new DC movie. The service was beyond exceptional - we were steadily accommodated with our dishes, water and treats given to my friend's dog, and everything else catered to I'm a timely manner. Taking food out of the equation, it is one of the more atmosphere-rich and nice places around. Do recommend if it's your thing. I would not go back again. The tables are ridiculously tiny, we felt really uncomfortable. Barely big enough for both of our meals. Tables crammed in so my sister had to keep standing and pushing her chair in for people to get through. My bowl and her plate both had large sharp chips in. Just not good enough when you’re paying £20 each for breakfast. The acai bowl was quite nice but served in a very small cheap sort of cereal bowl, I suppose so they don’t have to use as much toppings. You then have to pay using a QR code, which they charge you for using. So you don’t get service and have to pay for it….! Disgusting! Bad service, bad vibes, overall really disappointing. I stopped by Farm Girl around 11 am and enjoyed an almond croissant and an iced hot chocolate. The croissant was perfect, crisp on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. I loved every bite. However, the iced hot chocolate was a bit disappointing, as it tasted more like cold water with chocolate syrup. We ordered 3 dishes, the cherry pancakes, lentil dal soup and 2 chicken schnitzel. The pancakes and soup arrived within 10 mins and were very good. Those two people finished eating and the schnitzel still hadn’t arrived. When ordering we asked about the chilli sauce that came with the schnitzel so we knew that they had our order. Another 15 mins later and the schnitzels still hadn’t arrived. We went to ask about it and they said they never got the order, but they can have it ready in 5 mins. 10 mins later and still nothing. We asked again 15 mins later because we were starting to rush to get somewhere now but they hadn’t even bothered to start making it and the waiters were acting as if we had made up the order. We ended up taking the bill without receiving the schnitzel and those people ate somewhere else. Tl;dr the service was abysmal, the coffee was average. Go to Gail’s or Paul’s instead. Went in to order a takeaway coffee and a pastry. The man taking the order stopped everyone to take their order before we got to the pastry display, so I wasn’t able to see what they had. He then rushed me to put in my drink order, and didn’t ask me if there anything else I wanted to order before putting the card reader in front of me. Finally, he made me wait outside in the cold, while they made the coffee.
