Poor management, untrustworthiness and rudeness - stay far away if you want your property sold in time, or your calls ever answered!I started off with high hopes when I originally met the team as they seemed friendly and engaged. However, once I agreed to market with them the service started to decline. I never got a proper comparison of the different buyers’ offers and do not feel I was in a position to make an informed choice, but rather pushed into what was easiest for them.After the offer was accepted, they completely dropped the ball in monitoring the process. The buyer’s solicitor didn’t start the legal process for 6+ weeks and Chesterton’s didn’t pick up on this or notify me, it seemed they were only aware of this when I pointed it out to them. They frequently made promises about ways they intended to better manage the process but then would not follow through and often outright ignored specific requests. As a result of their mismanagement there was a 6 week lag between when I was ready to exchange on my onwards purchase and when exchange took place on my sale, even though I started the process of the purchase after the sale. This of course caused a lot of stress to myself and the onwards seller and I often felt the chain was at risk of collapsing. Because of their mismanagement, I estimate i spent easily 1 hour / day in the final weeks of the process. The team frequently misled me or omitted information. By the end, it was clear to me that i couldn’t trust them. A few of the team were disrespectful, rude and dismissive to me on the phone and on email. I at times had to revert to emails following calls because the agent refused to listen to me and just cut me off / spoke over me throughout.

We have had the opportunity to work with Andrew Z and from the first introduction it has been an absolute pleasure. He made our search for an appropriate property very seamless. He went out of his way to find the perfect property for our needs. As we are moving from another country we had specific needs and Andrew took all of that into consideration when finding our perfect place. My experience with this agency was terrible especially due to one agent who was letting me the property. The agent's name is Annie Waddel and she made my life miserable. As soon as I paid the holding deposit, she pretty much stopped taking my calls and and answering my messages. Every time I had to talk to her, I had to call the Chestertons office so that someone in their team would ask her to call me back. The whole company treats tenants so poorly. I talked to other people apart from Annie as well in their team and complained about her to her manager. It is so clear with them that they don't want to spend any time helping out tenants since all their earnings come from property owners. Try not to rent a property through them and definitely not from Annie Waddel

I found the team super professional with a gentle approach. Renting a property is far more complex than I had realised. It needs knowledge of details and patience. Chestertons were very understanding about my special circumstances, and responded efficiently to my requests. They found me a tenant within two weeks, helped me double-check references, and crucially, finalise the long list of requirements for renting a property. I had already spoken in detail to two other agencies, both offered good terms and ample support, but Chestertons gave me a far better all-round service with great terms.

It was a 'grueling' experience for someone outside of UK. The fair description should be a lengthy process as the time taken for the completion of rental process took about one and half month which means forever by Hong Kong standard. It was a pleasant educational experience on knowing how thorough and detailed on the whole process of renting an apartment for a foreigner. Fortunately I have been working with a letting agent who has been very helpful with her timely and precise advice. Overall, Chestertons has performed a great job as an agent to take care of both the landlord and the prospective tenant.

Complete disregard for Tenants needs. I moved in 7 December to a beautiful flat with a working fireplace. However I smelled gas when the fireplace was on. I called on 8 December to have this fixed. It has now been over for months and the only thing resolved is the technician agreed it is leaking and has put a big red DANGER sticker on the fireplace. Every time I called Chestertons which is about once a week now for 18 weeks… I get the same story oh, let me check on this I’ll get back to you. Nobody ever gets back to me and I have to call again the next week and I get the same exact story. We went with Chestertons because of the reputation and I would never do this again.
