Disgraceful!

It has been nine months since we moved into the flat, and we are still waiting for some maintenance, not to mention a refund for a storage that we had to pay back in September as the flat, precisely, wasn't ready. We have been through three different property managers, and still we are not getting the right service. Disgraceful!

I have to write a negative review for…

I have to write a negative review for Chestertons because their service is so poor, unprofessional and bad(I want to use other words and I think "unprofessional and bad" is probably an understatement. I have gone back and forth with Chesterton on this for so many times and yet they randomly added another fee of £180 and deducted that money from my rental income. This is like 3rd time. Previous two times I have spent months to get those money back and this time again. As expected, no response from Chestertons. God knows how long this will take to get my money back. In addition, Chestertons actually have no property manager, when I ask, everyone is saying someone else need to look into this matter for me.

Outrageously bad

Do you think paying £300 plus to change a fire alarm is reasonable? Do you believe you should be paying for the cleaning of a flat you don't own? Is two weeks a reasonable response time to answer an email? If you've answered YES to any of those questions, then Chesterton's is for you! This agency is so useless, so incompetent, and rips you off SO shamelessly, I'm shocked they have such a good rating. We used them as managers of our flat for nearly a year and deeply, deeply regret our decision. AVOID these incompetents at all costs!

Subpar property management service

We're currently renting a property which is managed by Chestertons. Unfortunately, we have had a terrible experience with them in regard to some issues that needed resolving in the bathroom.One contractor sent by Chestertons took five visits and approximately 16 hours to install a bath shower and redo some tiling in the bathroom, while another needed 8 visits to fix the toilet and redo some other tiling. These jobs are taking a suspiciously long time to resolve - to the point it feels like they are doing it on purpose so they can extract as much money out of the poor, unsuspecting landlords as possible, while at the same time causing massive inconvenience for tenants. It almost feels like Chestertons are willfully allowing this to happen. This is not an acceptable property management service I'm afraid. Chestertons haven't even bothered to come to our apartment to assess their work.All landlords beware.

Worst experience in my life

Worst experience in my life. Unreliable and fraudulent. I took a short term let. After signing the contract and paying advance, they ask me for more money in addition, without a receipt. I send total payment in two payments because my bank did not allow me to make such a large transfer. I send both transfer copies in an official document with CRO. One payment arrives, the other one does not by the weekend. They do not give me the keys. My lawyer is getting me a full refund. Never go to scoundrels like them. Be careful.

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE:

Dealing with Chestertons was the most frustrating and time-wasting thing I have ever been through. My flatmates and I put in an application for a property through Chestertons, this got all the way through to the point of receiving our Offer Letter. Then the day that I was expecting to receive an email with our Lease Agreement to sign, the Agent called me up to say the landlord sold the property. First of all, he lied to me and acted as if he had no idea the landlord was selling behind the scenes, a quick google search showed me that in fact it was up for sale on the Chestertons website. Secondly, the Agent knew that I had turned other properties for this one and should have been honest from the start about the intention to sell as now we have missed out on the other opportunities as the application process took two weeks. Thirdly, we had already paid our 50% deposit as well as reference fees which the Agent assured would be transferred back in full immediately. Upon following up (which I had to do multiple times because the Agent was simply unresponsive) I was told the transfer had been made but would take 3 days, UNREASONABLE as my transfer to them was able to go through on the same day. Then when I asked to see proof that the transfer was made, I was promised an email with that proof which should be an immediate email if the transfer was in fact already made, this was never sent to me. I am still in the process of finding out where our deposit is and when we will get it back. This is completely unprofessional on their part and they have made no attempt to appease me and my flatmates after lying to our faces, wasting two weeks of our time, taking our money and then making it difficult to get it back. I will NEVER deal with Chestertons again, nor would I EVER recommend them to anyone.

Rude and Unprofessional

The estate agent I dealt with was so rude and repeatedly asked if I could afford the flat before even viewing the flat. He assumed I had no knowledge of the current renting market and was very condescending when I told him my price range. When I turned up to my viewing, he dismissed me and didn't introduce the flat at all. I 100% do NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Avoid using this company by all means

Avoid using this company by all means -We lived in a property managed by Chesterton's for a year. In the time we lived with them, we reported issues with the accommodation in the first week of moving into the accommodation, they didn't sort this in the 9 months of us living there. They constantly sent someone out to 'price it up', but never once did someone come to fix anything. Things like not providing keys for the windows to open, bath panels and shower's hanging off the wall. We had 4 different property managers in this time as people kept leaving the company. The guy who came round to look at the property to price up the issues mentioned that the accommodation was that poorly put together that he couldn't believe it. After 9 months of getting tired of nothing being fixed, we decided we had to get out.Once we left, we were assured that we would not receive any cleaning charges if we used their registered cleaners. When handing over the keys, Andrew mentioned that the flat was cleaner than it was before we moved in. After using their cleaners, they still tried to take £160 for a cleaning charge. The individual who has been working on getting our deposit back has been everything but competent, we had to wait 2 months for our deposit to come back. It's gotten that bad that even the property owner has mentioned to us that she will never use Chesterton's again. I would love to leave a 0 star but for some reason that isn't possible.Considering we had nothing fixed in the time that we lived in the accommodation, we thought we'd be able to leave the flat. Instead we had to pay over £600 to leave early.I would avoid using this company at all costs, not only will you have nothing fixed, but they will also try to scam you out of most of your deposit.

This my second purchase through Chestertons Kensington. And for the second time, it wouldn't be possible without the help of Sai Shanmugam. He showed me around new developments, giving his honest opinion everytime. Once given your requirements, Sai knows how to choose the right property that suits your needs. When he calls me regarding a property i know for sure that it is something i will like. Sai was even there when the solicitors got slow and managed to close this deal professionally, not to mention that he is available all the time. Rude and unresponsive! Awful experiences

We are renting our flat through Chestertons and the whole experience since we moved in has been shocking. We are constantly ignored when we report issues and have to chase all the time. We have 2 ongoing issues one that was reported 3/4 months ago. We were told that someone called Fiona left and have been dealing with someone new who is even worse. No communication happens internally so when people are on holiday you have to start the process all over again. Would never ever go through Chestertons again

Thieves not paying for work done at property

Hi please be careful of this company and their landlords as work has been carried out at a flat but the landlord and company are refusing to pay. Only £700 but the don’t seem to be sorry or to be willing to pay as they are not replying to calls or texts please other people be careful
