Attention to detail, timeliness of responses and good all around knowledge of tenant management has made the current dealings with Chestertons (Ann Dickson more precisely) a pleasure. In a sector that has been affected by high turnover, it is once again about good managers which are rare, should be supported and retained. Hope it continues.

Asked for a valuation, estate agent turned up thoroughly unprepared. Undervalued the house and did not know anything about the area or recent sales of near identical houses at higher prices. I chose to use another estate agent. The problem is that they will not now leave me alone, this is a year later! Endless marketing calls and emails and my repeated attempts to ask them to stop have come to nothing. No other estate agent has done this. The latest muppet at the company tried to justify the lack of any option to remove my data from their lists in their email on the basis this was a business email rather than marketing. I look forward to seeing what the information commissioner has to say about this, as that seems the only option to stop the endless hassle from this company. Best advice, avoid them at all costs.

Absolutely horrible. If you are considering renting or buy, not this place. We rent a flat from them, they promised to do professional cleaning, and removal of the cigarettes smell when we viewed. When we move in, the house smell horribly with strong cigarettes smell, sink rusted, full of landlord stuff which we were not informed before moving in. We asked if they can do cleaning again and remove the smell, they said its up to their standard and we need to prove they havent done it. We are non smoker and we really hate the smell of it. They also said furniture couldnt be removed as it is not agreed on the agreement. We requested them to remove furnitures 2 months before moving in, and they kept saying they could not contact landlord. Also, there is a car parking with the flat, when we move in, they said the previous tenant broke the fob and so we do not have access to the parking space until we replace the fob. They would not talk to conierge or offer a temporary place for parking. Nothing was done, very disappointed. Complaint process is starting and I might have to seek legal advice on that.

Avoid this agency!They are absolutely terrible. Worst agency I've ever dealt with.They charge the tenants with very high fees at the end of the tenancy. Fees which should not be charged. What they do is when you move in they hire an external company (very shady) to do a check-in report in which they purposefully omit a lot of damages (scratch marks, missing screw caps and other strange things like that) that are already there and then at the end of tenancy they say that you have to pay for these even though these damages were already there when you moved in. Photos and videos you took when you moved in don't help because their employees just want to rob you and charge you for something you haven't done.Chestertons agency also keeps your deposit for a really long time (4+ weeks) and even if you clean the flat or hire a professional cleaning agency they still charge you for cleaning (or they ask you to hire their "friendly" cleaning company which will charge you a ridiculous £300+ fee).If you're a landlord - be prepared that they will also charge you enormous fees for their shady check-in and check-out report.If you try to talk to them politely about something on the phone they immediately get defensive and very rude.Please, to everyone who reads this - don't make the same mistake I did and do not trust this agency. Awful, awful experience.

TrustpilotScam artists - Took our holding deposit, ignored us, left us without a place to live, lied to us and didn’t refund deposit.
Chestertons told us the landlord had accepted our offer and that we should pay a holding deposit. Then ignored us for days, only to contact us to say that the landlord had decided to go with a lower and worse offer, because Chestertons hadn’t done their job. They then lied to us that they had contacted the landlord (Chestertons had initially said they couldn’t do their job properly because they couldn’t get hold of the landlord) and they didn’t want to negotiate, and decided to go with an offer lower than ours. No landlord on earth would ever accept worse terms and less money. Chesterton staff will take your money then lie to you, will waste your time and leave you at risk of becoming homeless. They clearly are of no benefit to landlords either if they don’t communicate properly or pass on money paid to them by tenants/prospective tenants. If this is how they do lettings, I can only imagine how they mess the lives and waste money of those buying property (where the stakes and values are much higher) with them. Avoid these scam artists.

I had approached a couple of estate agents, one of which was Chestertons Islington to enquire about valuations and terms etc. regarding a property to let. Both agents were very keen to market the property and eager to introduce applicants to view before the builders had completed work. I saw no harm in allowing this, and the first applicant who saw the property and wanted to rent was introduced by the other agent. It so turned out that his partner viewed the following day unwittingly again via Chestertons and the applicants quickly made an offer which I accepted. I therefore decided to go with the other, first, agent, but was then surprised to receive an angry phonecall and email from Chestertons suggesting that I had agreed that they would act as sole agent and therefore that I owed them a fee. I had made no such agreement. They are now threatening me with legal action. Beware Chestertons Islington. Update June 29th 2022 - Chestertons 'Credit Control' have now sent me 2 emails with invoices attached for a year's fees for 'Rent collection'. They are not, and never have been, collecting rent. This is completely unacceptable behaviour from a business that presents itself as a respectable high street property agency. Disgraceful.

GoogleWe had a very good experience selling our house with Chestertons. Whilst their initial valuation was slightly too high which meant that it took a while to get some meaningful viewings, the feedback received was always open and honest. Upon dropping the price and getting a sale agreed, our agent Guy was very professional and helpful, always on hand whenever we had any questions (responding immediately) and ensuring we were always kept up to date on the progress of the sale. He was a calm presence in a pressured situation and was clearly dedicated and keen to make sure the sale went through. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

Although moving house is stressful, it definitely felt as pain free as it could be. Piers Nichols was great, he always made himself available and gave really helpful advise throughout. Landlords beware!It's early days but we've had a terrible experience so far. The tenancy began with no rent being paid to us by Chestertons Islington despite the money having being paid to them by the tenant long in advance. After being prompted, they then pay us the wrong amount, with fees being deducted that we hadn't agreed to. Now going back and forth trying to get them to pay us the correct sum as agreed. It's like pulling teeth. Go elsewhere.
