When I was sure I would not be returning to the flat, Vanilla offered to pack my belongings so that the removal company could send them back to me. Dan, in particular, was very patient and attentive in helping me to finish packing. GoogleI was living at merchant Hall, seriously I love the room, and it's near to town center. I love everything about the place. But I'm only giving one star for whatever happened after I vacated the place. They deducted more than 100 pounds for cleaning the room and said there are stain in the bed. It was an old bed, I don't know what they are expecting! Even if there were any stains, that must be from old tenants. Unfortunately I couldn't prove it because I didn't take any photos when i moved in. And the fun part is that, some of my friends were staying at the place and everyone had same issues. Deducted the deposits for various reasons. I felt like i have been scammed, and it's not only me. So if you are moving in to the place be aware of these things, otherwise it's a convenient accommodation.

GoogleVery pleased with their services! Rented with them for 3 years, 3 different apartments and everything went well. When we needed painting, they painted the entire house, mattress needed changing, they arranged to have it changed. Maintenance services are on point. Application process is easy even when made from abroad, they provided online viewings for properties and replied to all my emails within reasonable time.

I have checked back through your check out photos from June 2020 and can see that the reason you had some deductions from your deposit were due to the smashed shower screen. I believe we have sent you the photos last year but can happily send them again. After negotiation on your behalf with the landlord they agreed to reduce this charge by 50%. Despite this, a third party adjudicator (the Deposit Protection Service) had to become involved and concluded that this was a reasonable reduction and agreed with the deduction. GoogleThe bad reviews all share a similar theme. Greedy Landlords facilitated by Vanilla lettings. Firstly, when you overuse on your utility allowance, you expect you would be told. Incorrect, they'll hit you with a massive charge at the end. Secondly, When a landlord takes more of your deposit than they are entitled to, Vanilla Lettings will do everything they can to drag out the process. As your caught up in chaotic post-graduate life, they hope it slips your mind. A study showed that in 80% of cases across England and Wales, landlords excessively overcharged, and in these cases, deposit protection schemes reduced the amount owed. Sign up to the scheme when you get the email, and contact them separately.
Ultimately, Prepare to not know how much you have left to spend on your utilities, and be forced to use them like a normal person, incurring changes and do not expect any of your deposit back.

GoogleWe have had amazing experiences with Vanilla lettings! Through every step their entire team has been absolutely incredible! We are Canadian so we found alot of trouble at first trying to secure a flat in Huddersfield. Once we came across one from Vanilla we were blown away by how amazing the service was! From the inquiry of the flat, to the virtual tour, to picking up the keys, the service was always incredible. We didn’t realize we had to pick up our UK residence cards from the post office prior to picking up our keys so when Vanilla informed us of this they even had a team member walk us down to where the post office was so we could find it easily! They are an incredible company and I would recommend anyone looking to rent in Huddersfield to go through Vanilla!

GoogleI was disappointed with the properties which I viewed in August 2021. The listings online and images published are completely out of date and not a true representation of the properties.
I ended up wasting a lot of preparation and viewing of potential properties to live in, which were nothing as they seemed online.
I feel particularly sorry for the tenant who lives in the Commerce House flat situated next to the takeaway. The cleanliness here is disgusting, and the noise until late hours would completely put me off living there. I would advise against viewing a property there for this reason.
Overall, I am glad I chose a reputable estate agent, not aimed at just students, to find a property. I viewed three properties with a different agent, and all properties matched the description online with truthful images of the property… up to date, and not taken many years ago.

GoogleI've been in this apartment with another letting agency but everything went South after since vanilla took over , from having people badge into my apartment that I pay for without notification to having the internet go off for days... I as well lost my keys and it's taken them nearly one week to replace the key not minding the fact that they charge money for it...
The one star is to enable me comment few of my experiences...but vanilla don't even deserve a single star as shown... It's a been a horrible experience from day one up to this moment... Enough of the words, in conclusion.. they are not good at all.
