GoogleI have to say I've had a really pleasant experience with Sawyer's - from Toby who initially showed me around a property I'm about to move into, to Kerri Anne's professional and swift handling of the referencing procedure and then Harriet who has taken over from the referencing side of things - they've been fast, kept in touch, exceptionally polite and really nice to deal with. Moving house is extremely stressful with so many things to consider and many variables to endure so to have a letting team who are all skilled at making this process as easy as possible and to have warm, friendly and just plain good old fashioned customer service is a total game changer when you've had poor experiences elsewhere. I usually avoid estate agents but I would most definitely recommend this particular office to my friends and colleagues if they're considering a move in Brighton & Hove. Thanks!!!

The Trusted Agent TenantHigh quality, professional and friendly company
As a great representative of Sawyer and Co, Emma Marcantonio has always been professional, friendly and always makes me feel that, I, as a tenant are important to the her and the company for almost two years. .She deals with any problems within my flat, promptly and efficiently. She is brilliant at liaising between the landlord and myself and I am always confident that she is representing myself and my landlord in the best possible way. After many years of dealing with agents, as both a tenant and a landlord, inside and outside of London, I can highly recommend Sawyer and Co as an agent. They really are the best I have dealt with.

The Trusted AgentExcellent service all round
We have purchased one property and let two through Sawyer and Co in Hove over the last 6 months and have found their service excellent all round. The phone and emails are always answered quickly and any problem and or queries sorted very efficiently. We have dealt primarily with Harriet, Kerry-Anne and Georgia in the Hove office all of whom have provided an A1 pro-active service. We fully intend to continue working with them into the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services.

GoogleThis letting agents is by far the worst I have ever encountered since I started renting in Brighton and Hove 8 years ago. I urge you to keep away so you are not scammed by this incompetent and uncaring company.
They let us a property, pushing for us to move in immediately taking every penny of our hard earned money. When we got to the property it was not ready for rental, it was filthy, covered in rubbish and the plumbing did not work. When we returned to the letting agents they told us that it was nothing to do with them now and we would have to contact the landlord. They gave us only an email address for the landlord who lives in India and does not respond to our emails, Sawyer and Co insist that it is not their problem. A year later, Sawyer and Co notified us to leave the property within 2 months as the landlord was moving back in. We ended our tenancy a month after their notice and heard nothing back from the landlord or Sawyer and Co. We have been unable to claim back our deposit as we still do not have any working contact details for the landlord and Sawyer and Co still insist that it is not their problem, despite the Deposit Protection Scheme telling us that Sawyer and Co themselves are holding the deposit money. We are now having to undergo a formal deposit despute which is both time consuming and mind numbing.
Dealing with this with a 5 month old baby in tow is an absolute nightmare, not to mention being one and a half grand out of pocket.
Sawyer and Co will take your money but not respond to any calls or emails. Even when I formally wrote to make an official complaint to the manager, I was still met with silence. Legally a formal complaint requires a 48 hour response. Five days later after still no response I had to come into the office myself to have any kind of response. Their excuse for not responding to anything was that they were "too busy".
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

GoogleJust generally had all over bad experience of them as a letting agent. When I viewed a property and asked if it had damp they flat out lied to me about the issues the property has (it has serious ongoing issues with damp) They are slow in returning any contact or doing anything with the property. They don't really seem to have a clue about the property. Our flat has a fire alarm wired to the building upstairs which means if it goes off we need access to the upstairs hallway to turn it off. The upstairs hallway also has our electricity meter and after asking for a key repeatedly they have done nothing. We have already had to leave our flat for the best part of a day because we could not turn the alarm off. Even when I can pin one of them down they say they will sort things but rarely will anything comes of it. The oven in our flat doesn't work and again after mentioning it several times nothing has been done. Overall the service has been pretty poor and their communication bad, so I would advise others to look avoid.

GoogleSawyer & Co Lettings Hove are quite simply, appalling. It's hard to know where to start. Lack of accountability, lack of expertise, lack of professionalism. Take the intellectual bandwidth of a trilobite, mix it with the disinterest of a call-center bank clerk, strategically shave, stick that in a suit or dress and send it out into the world to mess up people's lives. Stick to a reputable agent or take the trouble to find one, and save yourself a lot of heartache. Ask as many questions about the prospective home until you are satisfied. Don't be made to feel 'picky'. They aren't, and they get paid either way, so you have to be - and you'll be living with your decision.

GoogleAvoid this outfit at all cost.
The Lettings department are clueless and have little regard to the law of lettings to the extent that I cannot understand how they are still in business. The manager, Jeremy needs some serious training with how the tenancy deposit scheme works. (and probably other areas too..) With agents having such a bad rep in this town, you'd think that they would be doing more to prove to the customer that it's not deserved. However this isn't the case. Lazy communication and blame shifting are just a couple of things we've experienced. I find the other glowing references on here hard to believe. Must be family or friends...

GoogleSawyer and Co were extremely helpful in finding us a property at short notice. We were relocating to Brighton and Hove from the Midlands due to a change in work commitments and needed a two bedroom property close to the seafront that both accepted pets and had a garden. We were able to trust them to find properties even though we weren't always able to view them due to us not living in the area yet. They didn't complain about this once. We took the property on faith without viewing and when Lee, who had arranged everything for us, showed us around we were really pleased as it ticked all the boxes. We highly recommend Sawyer and Co to meet your needs.

GoogleSawyer & Co were part of the chain involved in our recent successful exchange of contracts. While they were actually employed by our buyer, not by us, they played an integral part in the success of the chain. Lee Cook in particular provided a level of service which was far over and above their contractual obligation by agreeing to communicate with us directly when issues were encountered with our buyer's sale. Lee provided a vital link between all parties at the bottom of our chain and pro-actively kept everyone informed with the state of affairs and any actions required. His professional, upfront and honest approach was very refreshing and meant that expectations throughout the chain were properly managed. Everyone else that I spoke to in the Hove office was very friendly and helpful and ensured that messages were always past on to Lee accurately and in a timely fashion. Based on my experience of the Hove office, I would have no hesitation in considering them to act on our behalf if we are ever crazy enough to move house again!

GoogleDespite not representing me, the estate agent maintained good, prompt communication throughout the purchase. Due to a problem with the lease and some maintenance issues with the property, this was not a particularly easy transaction, but it may not have completed, had it not been for the work of Kerry-Anne and Luke to help me get these issues resolved. It took them a long time to get a missing window replaced and I had to ask a few times, hence a point deducted. But this was the only negative point to an otherwise professional service. Sawyer & Co care about how they present themselves to buyers, as we will, of course, one day become sellers. As a first time buyer, I found two other national high street estate agents very pushy and persistent with their in-house mortgage brokers. These tactics may bring in short-term revenue, but buyers tend to never use the agent as a seller. In contrast, Sawyer & Co are not pushy and have clearly thought through their long term business plan. Local estate agents are a better way to go, as they rely on their reputation. I would be happy to sell through them in future.

GoogleThese guys are an absolute JOKE!!..
Some people were interested in our property & enquired through Sawyer & Co. They were informed that the property had been REMOVED FROM THE MARKET!!!..
Luckily these people managed to contact me directly & I arranged a viewing myself... The people made us an offer which we were very happy with in the end!! & Sawyer & Co completely lost out on their cut!!..
The advert Sawyer & Co created for our property was not consistant with what was agreed!
They left the door OPEN after one of the viewings!..
Absolute waste of time!!.... DO NOT RISK USING THESE GUYS!!

The Trusted Agent TenantMiss Emma M. is a friendly, efficient and professional property manager
Miss Emma M. is a fantastic property manager. Her efficiency is impressive! She's so hardworking and replies me with concrete solutions within 1-2 working days. That's amazing! She's fair and professional. She changes my impression that estate company only helps landlords and unfair to tenants. (Of course, my landlords is kind and friendly too) Finally, she's so friendly that I don't feel stress when I show the problems with her. Thank you so so much Emma!!!
