My husband and I recently purchased a property through Henry Adams, and overall it was a very quick process, everything was completed within two months, which was brilliant for us. The communication could have been a little better at times, and I did have to do some chasing, but in the end we are very happy with our new home and can’t wait to move in. Everyone I spoke to over the phone was polite, friendly, and helpful. From what I understand, the original agent who dealt with us is no longer with the company, so that may explain some of the communication gaps. All in all, a smooth and speedy purchase with a professional team, and we’re grateful to Henry Adams for helping us secure our lovely new house.

We purchased our first house via Henry Adams recently and felt so supported throughout the whole process. More than any other estate agent we really felt like we had someone who was rooting for us and Alison Martin was a huge part of that. She made the whole process painless which is a big achievement considering how stressful buying a house is. From the moment we started the process the team at Henry Adams were fantastic but a special thank you needs to go to the wonderful Lisa Atkins. The buying process was a little challenging due to a difficult buyer but Lisa did everything she possibly could to ensure she pushed our agent , the buyer, the buyers agent and everyone else in the chain! This was a daily occurrence and without her, we may have had a different outcome. Lisa did a fabulous job in managing the developers expectations and it worked out perfectly in the end. Henry Adams successfully sold my house in Horsham 11 years ago, so it was the first Estate Agent I visited having decided to move back to the Horsham area. I wanted a 3 bedroom bungalow in a village close to Horsham. Emma Crouch was on the case immediately and we discussed in detail what sort of property I wanted. After a short period of time Emma alerted me to a viewing day for a property in Rusper. It was an immediate success, I offered and was accepted and Emma followed progress constantly, pushing Solicitors, Surveyors and me! to achieve exchange and completion in the shortest possible timeframe. Having been able to moved from a 5 bed barn in Norfolk to a downsized property in West Sussex is entirely due to the professional approach of Emma Crouch.

My experience of Henry Adams sales team in Horsham has not been a particularly good one. Whilst the staff are quite friendly to speak to, I was quite shocked at how awful they were at looking after customers. I was recommended to use Henry Adams by a neighbor who had achieved a good price for their property. Firstly and maybe most importantly Henry Adams did actually manage to find a buyer for the price we hoped for. However in a sellers market, as it was before the mini-budget this wasn’t particularly hard. Based on Henry Adams performance I wonder if we sold it in spite of them or because of them! During the sales process the amount of people viewing was exaggerated to both me and those who were being showed around. Additionally when certain questions were asked during the viewings, rather than check, they glossed over the issues. In particular telling one viewer they could park in the private road whereas the deeds specifically prohibit this. We had a viewer turn up completely unannounced whilst my grandson was visiting at a weekend as Henry Adams had completely forgotten to book it in. On another occasion they arranged an appointment with the purchasers of my house whilst we were away on holiday, and whilst they admitted their mistake to me, did not admit their mistake to my buyers, so I had to apologize on their behalf. Once we had got the offer, Henry Adams seemed to lose all interest in the sale. At one point the chain almost collapsed so me and my buyer had to find £20k to pull a rescue package together. I did not even receive a courtesy phone call informing me of this from Henry Adams and I had to do all the liaising directly with my buyer. Often when I did speak to Emma at Henry Adams (which was not that often), I would be better informed of the chain status than they were. Even when I escalated to the manager Nicolas Hapgood, he was not aware of any details despite my chain being on the verge of collapse. Several times I called the office in Horsham and nobody was there as they were all on holiday apart from a receptionist. In contrast the estate agent of the property we were buying was fantastic. Amber from Alex Harvey Estate Agents was fantastic. She set up a WhatsApp Group for us and kept us informed weekly and sometimes daily of the status of the solicitors and what was happening throughout the chain. She has welcomed us with champagne into our new house (no champagne from Henry Adams, not even a card) and she has kept in touch making sure we love our new home. She has even met with our buyers to make sure they are happy too. I have to say if I could pay the £11,000 I paid Henry Adams to Alex Harvey I would have done. In summary, don’t use Henry Adams, use Alex Harvey and ask for Amber if you want a top notch service with a company that knows what they are doing and really cares. Update - I have been contacted by Henry Adams who have admitted that their communication was not up to their normal standards & will take this feedback on board when they have other clients whose chains are on the verge of collapsing. I am satisfied with this response and also respect the fact they did not ask me to remove or amend this review which is a sign of integrity in my eyes.

We have been looked after by Emma from day 1, she has been extremely responsive and understanding throughout the process. As first time buyers I'm sure we were a bit annoying asking every detail even when it wasn't necessarily the estate agents role to answer them Emma would always give us response or point us in the right direction. Just completed on our house sale for the first time in 36 years! Things have moved on since then, we found Henry Adams in Horsham most professional in dealing with all aspects of the sale, including dealing with the buyers and all the various Solicitors along the way. After meeting with four different agencies - two local and two national- we selected Henry Adams, Horsham because we felt they offered the strongest market knowledge and understood the demographic to which our house would appeal. The advert and photographs were professionally prepared, and within two weeks we had a large number of interested parties and were able to secure more than one offer. From the point of accepting an offer and issuing Memorandum of Sale, we relied heavily upon the expert navigation of our agent, Alison Martin. Her communication was excellent and she was able to offer impartial and practical advice. Despite the complexity of a changing market and delays to our onward purchase, Ali kept our buyers updated and engaged. She consistently went above and beyond our expectations, communicating with calm and professionalism throughout. Henry Adams Horsham - Avoid…

Extremely disappointed with Henry Adams Horsham service. Firstly they requested that I pay for ‘professional photography’ upfront, the photographer had to attend twice due to taking poor photographs the first time around, this resulted in delaying putting our property on the market for the date we agreed. Henry Adams then chose to advertise it and take viewings without the agreed open day. There were not many viewings during the 7 weeks they had the property on the market, feedback was extremely poor until we gave notice to end the contract. In addition, despite all our problems they asked us to reduce the asking price within the first 4 weeks, we were left with the gut feeling that they were using our property to aid the sale of others on their books, we can’t put into words how disappointed we are with the service Henry Adams Horsham provided, I would strongly advise sellers to avoid this estate agent.

I am writing this review to express my utter distaste and disbelief at the customer service I have received from this business. I recently enquired regarding an apartment which had been advertised by your team on Rightmove and which I was very interested in renting. Therefore I called your team immediately to arrange a viewing. I managed to secure the first viewing of the apartment within the earliest time slot. Once this was arranged (as it was days in advance of the viewing appointment) I had time to think it over and didn’t want to take the chance of losing this property so I once again communicated with your team to see whether I could put an offer in without viewing the apartment as I was happy with the photos posted on the site. I was told that it is not possible and that I need to view the apartment first. After viewing the apartment I spoke to your office immediately to put in an offer and I even went over and above the asking price to secure the property. I was told my offer will be put through to the landlord and I would get an answer the following day. The following day, I had heard nothing, no communication whatsoever so once again I rang your office around midday to ask for an update. I was told the person dealing with it was not in that morning which is why there is a delay but he would get back to me in the afternoon. There was still no communication. I called the office again at around 3:30pm for an update after the flat status had miraculously changed to ‘let agreed’ online. I was then informed that the status was updated to stop further enquiries but they’ve not come to a decision yet but someone will call me back by the end of day (6pm). I can’t help but think that this is not true as every time I communicated it seemed like I was bothering them and was an inconvenience asking for an update on my offer when I was promised a call that day. All I wanted was an update! Fast forward to 5:30pm I call again and was told that a message has been passed for someone to call me back urgently before 6pm. I didn’t receive any call, as expected. The following morning I hoped someone would get back to me first thing having passed the message the following evening… but no call once again. I then called up at 10:45am to be told “We’ve just taken a holding deposit and unfortunately the landlord did not choose you. We were actually about to call you right now!” (Hmm, sure). I wasn’t given any other information and the lady on the phone rushed to end the call but said they would call me back if anything changes. In my humble opinion, they had already earmarked this property for somebody else prior to the viewings. After having to call up 4 times for an update I don’t believe anyone will contact me. I have provided my phone number and email also but I seem to be ignored. I work in a very similar industry and I understand things can get busy, however ignoring someone for over 24 hours and then to be bluntly told their application did not go through is quite rude and disrespectful. Total waste of time and terrible communication. Avoid this letting agency at all costs.
