GoogleWe've been tenants in a property managed by Brock Taylor for six months, we pay our rent early, never missed a payment and I'm leaving this review only after giving them every reasonable opportunity to fix ongoing issues. That has meant booking time off work, staying in on weekends, staying home on the day of my son's party for a contractor and a staff member, who never even turned up, so we left making it by 1 minute and endless emails back and forth.
Over this period we've had numerous (lost count) of different contractors sent to the property and the director of Brock Taylor, seemingly because the agency and landlord weren't happy with the quotes they received (although they sourced the contractors themselves). Our windows have been blown for 6 months, and it took 5 months just to get someone out to look at them. (No repair yet) Most seriously, a kitchen cabinet fell on our daughter after the landlord had a wall plug fitted into a wall that was already deteriorating.
A rusting pipe has appeared in the back garden and no one has come to look at it. The back fence has fallen apart, meaning the property can't be secured. Work on the fence and the internal repairs has now been proposed for the 15th and 18th of September, but that doesn't change the fact we've been waiting since March for anything to happen, and given our experience so far we'll believe it when we see it.
When moving in we were told the property would be cleaned, the oven was not it was filthy. They didn’t pull it out there was old toys and muck from the last tenant. The landlord then had a family member turn up and to level a gas oven put a turbo flange from a car under the leg saying he would return with something proper, he did not and the oven had to be replaced.
When we chased these problems, we were told they needed to be logged on their internal system. They had been logged within seven days of us moving in.
Six months on, none of the work has been completed. Remarkably, they still tried to book an inspection to check how we're keeping the property which has triggered this review. I wouldn't recommend renting through this agency based on our experience. However with the current market demand on rentals you may have to.
