Unfair Deposit Deduction and poor service. After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition.We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year.When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken. Bathroom cealing water leak and light damage have reported multiple times through mails and calls and it took them months to repair this and after coming they didn't repaired this completely , paints started to fall again, due to leaked wall ceiling.Ongoing issue eventually caused ceiling damage and now we are responsible to pay for this. 2. The boiler and heater was also damaged and remained unrepaired for a week despite repeated escalations. Throughout our tenancy, we did not have any leaking radiators, we haven't done anything on walls, was kept like how they had given to us. Cleaned the house thoroughly and given back to them. Our experience has been deeply disappointing, and I hope this review encourages greater fairness and transparency for future tenants.

POOR SERVICE AND IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR Im the guardian for the tenancy of my brother and sister in law at Heaton moor road. I'm forced to give this review, as we have completed the tenancy with GH, left the property and today we have got a deposit claim of 550£ ( 250 for cleaning, 150 for decorating, 115 for radiator leak etc) . I have been tenant to multiple landlords in the past before buying my own property and never seen anything like this before. Though, the property was stinking when we moved in, this was escalated multiple times and no action was taken from agency or landlord, the boiler was damaged and remained like that for 1 week, with no repairs even after multiple escalation. We didn't have a leaking radiator and didn't cause any damage to paint works other than minor wear and tears. Bathroom lights were providing lights and additional water from above bathrooms, and remained like that for months to repair. This has caused damage to the ceiling and now they want us to sort this. We already expected these scams form Gascoigne Halman and the landlord and has escalated every issues early through emails and we have photographs. Please make sure you escalate issues and damages to the agency in time through emails so that you won't be charged unnecessary at the end . We are planning to act through the DPS to get our refund back in complete.

I have recently moved house, and cannot fault Gascoigne and Halman Heaton Moor. George showed me around the property and at no point did I feel pressured on pushed into a sale. He was informative, understanding and reassuring of my situation. Sharon has also been super friendly, knowledgeable and kept in regular and frequent contact with me regarding advice and updates about the sale. I would definitely consider using Gascoigne and Halman again in the future, and would also recommend them to friends and family. 10/10.

Awful management and communication

As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.

Highly recomment Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield

After 3 aborted sales with Purple Bricks which consumed 14 stressful months due to lack of support, wrong price, no vetting of purchasers, etc., etc. I decided to use Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield to sell our house. Within 1 week Matthew Clark and his team had vetted a new purchaser who was right for our property, truly had the funds, and was highly likely to follow through to completion (which they did).I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman enough for their proactive advice and follow-up, aiding the purchaser and keeping me informed. I found them friendly and easy to communicate with. No waiting for someone to answer the phone for inquiries and prompt replies on email. When the exchange of contacts and completion time came, they helped pressure crucial solicitor communication so that we met the target dates keeping me (the seller) and the purchaser happy. I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield enough. Thanks, folks, you deserve the credit, and will be using you again for another property sale.

Negligent - Do not rent from them

My husband and I moved into a property managed by letting agents Gascoigne Halman in Chapel en le Frith in November 2022. From the start we had major issues with the property; it hadn't been cleaned, the water pressure was terrible, in fact prior to us moving in after pointing out some defects during a viewing the electricity board had to be brought in to make the electrics safe! There was rubbish left in the loft and cellar and an open manhole cover with standing water in the basement with a pump in it. We had been told this was a usable storage space by the agents. It was not. It flooded more than once ruining our property and was horrendously damp. The wetness in the cellar rose through the house making it constantly damp and mouldy. The window frames were so rotten you could push your finger through them. The front door lock was insecure and you could push the door open with a hard shove.The shower seal was leaky and caused staining downstairs. The shower barely worked then stopped altogether. I believe the property would have been below the required EPC rating for letting if it were tested last year.These are just a few of the catalogue of defects. (I have photographic evidence of all of this). It took months to get some these things rectified and over 200 emails. I have made clear that one of my emails be treated as an official complaint but nothing has come of it. Often we were simply told 'the landlord doesn't want to spend any more money on the property'.We requested a reduced rent rate from £900 to £500 expecting a negotiation with the landlord. He took over a month to respond and then offered £850 despite our explaining the extensive damage to our property and us having paid for a shed to move our things from the cellar. The agents then sent messages chasing arrears. After continuing to press for the landlord to fulfill his legal obligations we were eventually hand delivered a section 21 notice (our tenancy should have run until November and they delivered this in June which I think may be in breach of the rules). The landlord claimed to not be able to afford repairs and needed to sell the property. This all happened over an 8 month period and I have to believe there is some sort of recourse for us. The property should not have been let in that state and we should be able to claim damages for our ruined property and loss of income (I work from home as a contractor). Having rented for over 20 years I have never had such a terrible experience. We moved back to Chapel to be closer to my elderly parents to care for them and now because of the lack of affordable, appropriate property we have had to move further away ultimately making them suffer. We have contacted the property ombudsman who have advised we have a case against Gascoigne Halman we just need to to follow it up. We have managed to find a private let and now moved at great personal expense through no fault of our own. Our new property is clean, well cared for and seems heaven after 9 Cross Street.

From George showing us round the property on our initial viewing, to Sharon keeping us up to date on all the goings on from the sellers side, Gascoigne Halman have been the best estate agent we have dealt with so far. Undoubtably the sale of the century. Adam with his able team marketed my house SK4 3JB in February 2022. It sold the next day with an offer over the asking price which complimented his marketing strategy. We then embarked to downsize to a bungalow which was a big ask, the search was fully aided by Adam and the lovely Kim and at one point we thought all was lost in July. Adam although being the sales agent for our house took it upon himself with his team to keep all parties keen. We eventually completed on our perfect bungalow over seven months later in September with no reductions on the waiting buyers price and a bargain on our bungalow. You could not make this review up as a fairytale, but its true and big thanks to Adam and his team for all their hard work, and very personal help and input to complete on an extremely challenging sale and conveyance.
