As private landlords we have used Hunters of Harrogate for both property sales and also advice on Letting. We were recently invited to one of their Landlord Evenings at the Cricket Club, majoring on the imminent Renters Right Act...this was a superb evening of presentations , questions and answers. Just today we spent another personal hour with Branch Manager James Thorn and their Senior Lettings Manager Chris Borges. We can thoroughly recommend both these gentlemen and also their Team at Hunters of Harrogate , for their experience, knowledge, enthusiasm and being very pleasant and successful in their dealings with us.

So glad that we sold out house through Hunters. The whole team did a fantastic job! From the off, we had full confidence in Matthews valuation. He gave a good justification for the price he thought we would get for it, and that was the main reason we originally went with Hunters. From that moment on, it felt like we were involved in a well oiled machine and the house was on the market within a few days, with really high quality photos from a professional photographer.... our house had never looked so good! We had about 10 viewings requested within a couple of hours, and this was expertly handled by James and Aimee. All of this led up to us selling our house on the first day of viewings. All of this process was painless! The rest of the process is where Hunters really shone! It felt like our sale took forever to exchange, and as time went on we got anxious and a bit stressed with the whole conveyancing process. However Aimee Tooke was a true star! She was always on top of the rest of the chain, asking for updates and letting us know as soon as she heard anything. Towards the end we called her quite a bit, she was always happy to help and gave us her full attention. To the point where it felt that she didnt have any other clients than us (this is defo not the case). Hunters are without a doubt the best estate agents that we have dealt with in Harrogate and from the outset to the nerve wracking completion, they were with us all the way and leading our sale. Nothing was too much trouble and they were proactive and always ahead of the game. Matthew was excellent at getting us marketed at the right price and in the right way, James was exceptional at handling potential buyers and holding out for asking price for us when we may have caved. But we are unsure how we would have got through the process sanely without Aimee, who went above and beyond consistently , was a fabulous liasion with our buyers and the solicitors and saved the day with her quick thinking when we needed to exchange quickly to secure our next property. She is an absolute dream and a credit to Hunters and was always able to reassure us and keep us positive. Hunters have handled the sale of a very complicated property with patience and skill. They brought the sale to a successful conclusion despite some unexpected complications and delays. The person we dealt with James Leach, worked beyond the call of duty to maintain a successful working relationship between the buyers and us the sellers. lettings fees are very high

For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton branch! From the very first phone call right up to exchanging contacts They have been beyond brilliant. I absolutely loved the pictures of my house and the write up most definitely did my house justice. My house sold within 4 days and I was over the moon with the price!Nicole was the shining star for me- she kept in daily contact and was the most reassuring and helpful person every single step of the process. Disappointed is an understatement..

To say we’re disappointed with the level of communication from the Horncastle Branch with Michael and Susan Noonan is an understatement and the level of service is a far cry from Michael's commitment to customer experience.Researching this branch shows multi-occasions that this activity has happened here.If you’re viewing a property with the intent to buy, don’t expect them to tell you if any other parties are interested. They’ll just pull it from under your feet along with any visions or excitement of a future you had in said house.Viewed a property two weeks ago, following the viewing we had a really positive conversation with Susan in the office expressing great interest, no more than a week later sold to another buyer with no communication. It would have been professional and courteous to reach out to the buyer but more so to the seller, as I’m certain they would like to have known of other interest. Susan and Michael took away any opportunity or chance to put in any offers, resulting in many wasted hours.I wouldn’t usually leave a review; but the tone in which Susan delivered the news was blunt, lacked any sort of empathy and very closed, to date I am still waiting for a reply to my email which I can only assume has been ignored.We will steer clear of this company for future sales and purchases, knowing that their priority doesn’t appear to be with either buyer or seller.Happy to receive a call or email to discuss our experience with you.

Hunters are not interested

Hunters let the house adjacent to ours. There have been multiple pipe leaks around the bathroom causing flooding which in turn is causing damp smells on our side due to the length of time taken to address the issues. It's been repaired after four weeks now within hours water is currently coming through the ceiling next door soaking our party wall and they have told the tennant it's livable no problem.

My review is for Shona McDonald. Having initially been very satisfied in the early stages with my choice of Hunters I felt it turned into a farce! The saving Grace being allocated Shona to pick up the second opportunity of a sale. I found her easy to relate to, ‘normal’ in her ‘down to earth’ interaction with me and patient and understanding when things got ‘too much’. This is just what I needed, cannot say the same of another individual who was fuelling my debate on whether to submit a complaint. Treat people as you would wish to be treated and there doesn’t have to be an issue. Shona got the job done, a problem solver and aware of the importance of keeping you up to date! Awful. Incredibly disorganised. Would establish inspections and never turn up, would constantly email about overdue rent that wasn't overdue. Would pass the blame constantly. Attempted to raise my rent by a "reasonable" £200 a month six months into my tenancy which can only happen every 12 months and cannot be more than the CPI price index; they failed on both counts. Renting is honestly awful, and these clowns pray upon the anxiety of insecurity to get what they want.I have bought a house now, I wish all renters the luck to buy their own homes one day so we never have to deal with letting agents like these ever again.

I can’t recommend the sales team at Hunters highly enough. Our sale was not straight forward - we had a couple of sales that fell through very unexpectedly just before exchange. But James Leach has been especially helpful liaising with all parties and quietly and diplomatically achieving the final sale 10 days ago when we had Exchange and Completion on the same day. If it hadn’t been for James, I don’t think the sale would have happened. Thank you James and all the sales team at Hunters !

Sales progression team lied and not very professional.

We are in the process of buying a bungalow at the moment and the sales progression team told us the vendor had been to sort the electrics and service the boiler..previous tennants had apparently got in debt so electric was cut off..Hunters lied saying this would be sorted. A second viewing 2 weeks later and a wasted 120 mile journey confirmed nothing had been sorted. When we told them we were disappointed with them we were told to leave the property.

Damaged our house, and we're not even their clients!

Hunters hung a "for sale" sign on our property, which was a surprise to us, since we were neither selling nor letting the property. When asked to take it down, four visible holes have been left in the wall of our home. It has been six and a half weeks, and the holes are still there. In a couple of weeks, we're going to need to escalate this to the ombudsman.
