I have been very pleased with the level of service offered by the team at Whittaker & Co. When looking for an agent to sell my late uncle's house in Harpenden, I looked at all the agents with local offices and concluded that Whittakers were likely to be the best match for selling his house. Very quickly after listing his property we had agreed a sale. Unfortunately, the buyer had to pull out after some time, but another acceptable sale was quickly agreed and sale completed recently. What I think really stands out is the support they provided because I did not live nearby. They arranged various services like having the heating system drained down to prevent frost damage, getting overgrown drains cleared, thorough to a deep clean after house clearance and regular reading of the electricity and gas meters for me. It all made the process of selling so much less trouble. Very happy to recommend them as a professional team who support their clients right through to completion.

Thank you to Ric and the rest of Whittaker’s agents for selling my mothers bungalow in July this year. Throughout a difficult selling process involving a long chain with several 'hiccups', Whittakers' team were always so upbeat and encouraging and, although it took quite a long time, we got there in the end as Ric had positively predicted. Whittakers were highly recommended by a good friend and I'm so pleased I listened and acted on that advice as I was kept informed during the whole process which was pretty stressful at times. I looked at two properties marketed by Whittaker & Co. Gabe showed me the first, and was very knowledgeable about it - however, also completely honest if he did not know the answer to a question. The one on which I offered has been handled primarily by Ric Merlo. As expected, there was a period of time between the vendor accepting my offer and finding themselves a suitable property. Ric kept me informed of progress and also lack of it, ensuring I knew what was going on, felt I was being kept in mind and what efforts Whittakers were making to help my vendors, e.g. direct mailshots to suitable properties. He was upfront and honest about preparing conveyancing and survey without paying for services too early. Once the chain was set he continued to keep me informed with regular, but not intrusive, updates. When exchange time came around he worked hard to align all people in the chain and smooth out last minute queries. He knew the conveyancing team at my solicitors and occasionally spoke to them directly, taking some of the work off my hands. Additionally, whenever I left a message at Whittakers, either Ric called back or someone else did to let me know when he would. Communication is key in business, and there was the right amount here. We have had a great experience purchasing a property through Whittaker & Co. Having viewed many properties in Harpenden, we always found the team to be very knowledgeable about the area, each individual property that they were showing us around, and the particulars surrounding the circumstances of sale (chain, likely timing, previous ownership, works undertaken etc.). When we made an offer on a property, the team were very clear in communicating with us and keeping us updated on progress as we went to final bids. Having been successful in our bid, we then found the team to be incredibly responsive, very practical and always really helpful in progressing the transaction and keeping everyone updated on the different moving parts. They were great at passing communications between ourselves and the vendor, liaising with the solicitors on both sides to progress matters, and assisting with keeping the transaction on track when a few delays with the bank meant that it was at risk of slipping away. That was all made possible because of the depth of experience the team clearly have - there seemingly being no issue or situation they haven't seen a hundred times before. We will definitely look to Whittaker & Co whenever it comes to selling our property in the future, and couldn't recommend them highly enough.
